Third-person POV
Time had passed, and Atsushi, Yuichiro, and the others were now in class under Guren Ichinose. Atsushi was still not sure about his place in the vampire extermination unit. Shortly thereafter, both had low scores in their recent exams.
"Yeah, it was pretty difficult," Atsushi commented.
Yuichiro was frustrated by it.
But then, a student named Kimizuki annoys the crap out of them.
While Atsushi keeps his cool, Yuichiro didn't, and he was pissed off by him.
He and Kimizuki then got into a fight.
"C-Calm down, Yuichiro-kun!" Atsushi tries to defuse the situation.
And then, when Guren is about to use his weapon, Atsushi notices that, and he responds, "What are you doing, Guren-san?"
But Guren did it anyway then, and he stabbed it into the floor, releasing his Black Demon's aura to the entire classroom.
While his friends and the other students are affected, for some reason, Atsushi is unaffected by it.
Then, as it kept on going, a voice said to Atsushi, "Switch."
"What?" Atsushi responded to this while zoning out.
That was the work of a mountain spirit, who was his guardian from a young age.
Sayuri had to use warding spells to withstand it.
After that, most of the students collapsed, but Shinoa and Yoichi managed to withstand it without much difficulty. Yuichiro and Kimizuki, however, struggled more. Others were also able to endure the power, but they collapsed shortly afterward. In general, Atsushi was the only one that was virtually unaffected by it then. At this point, Atsushi managed to snap out. As a result, Atsushi, Yuichiro, Kimizuki, and Yoichi passed the test, and Guren decided to let them try the Black Demon series.
Later, while walking to the ceremony room, as his friends were expressing their doubts and giving out advice, Atsushi expressed his doubts to them, adding, "I really want to switch sides." Kimizuki was surprised to hear that, and Yuichiro and Yoichi explained to him about his intentions and fears.
"I see." Kimizuki understood. "Sure, if you fail the ceremony."
Atsushi then nodded. "Yes."
He then thought, "I would never get a weapon like that."
