Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Where am I

Kai stumbled forward, his legs wobbly as he tried to catch his balance. The world around him was a blur of colors and shapes, and he could feel his head spinning. For a moment, he wondered if he was still trapped in the pocket dimension, but as he looked around, he realized that he was back in reality.

But where was he? Everything was unfamiliar, and he couldn't remember how he had gotten there. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and looked around again.

He was standing in the middle of a large, grassy field, surrounded by tall trees. In the distance, he could see the outline of a city, its spires and towers reaching up towards the sky. But it was too far away to make out any details.

Kai took another deep breath and started walking towards the city, hoping to find some answers. As he walked, he tried to piece together what had happened. He remembered being with Lirien, and then...nothing. Had he been teleported here alone?

The walk was long and tiring, but finally, Kai made it to the city gates. The guards eyed him warily as he approached, but he held up his hands in a gesture of peace.

"I'm not looking for trouble," he said. "I just need some help."

The guards exchanged glances, but eventually, one of them stepped forward.

"What do you need?" he asked.

"I don't know where I am," Kai said. "Or how I got here. I was with someone, Lirien, and then...I don't remember anything else."

The guard looked skeptical, but after a moment, he nodded.

"I'll take you to the city council," he said. "They'll know what to do."

Kai followed the guard through the winding streets of the city, his eyes taking in the sights and sounds around him. It was a bustling place, filled with merchants hawking their wares and people going about their daily business. But there was something different about it, too. Something that Kai couldn't quite put his finger on.

Eventually, they arrived at a large, ornate building at the center of the city. The guard led Kai inside and into a room filled with people, all of them wearing robes of various colors.

"This is the council," the guard said. "Explain your situation to them."

Kai took a deep breath and approached the council. He told them everything he could remember, from being trapped in the pocket dimension to waking up in the field outside the city. The council members listened intently, exchanging glances with each other as he spoke.

Finally, one of them spoke up.

"We don't know how you got here," he said. "But we do know that you're not from around here. This is the city of Elvandar, and outsiders are not usually welcome here. However, given your situation, we're willing to make an exception."

Kai nodded gratefully.

"Thank you," he said. "Do you have any idea where Lirien might be? Or how I can find my way back to my own world?"

The council members exchanged uneasy glances, and the one who had spoken before cleared his throat.

"I'm afraid we can't help you with that," he said. "But we'll do what we can to make your stay here as comfortable as possible."

Kai felt a knot form in his stomach. He was stuck in a strange world, with no idea how to get back to his own. But he knew that he couldn't give up. He had to keep searching, keep fighting, until he found his way home.
