Chapter 16 - First mission

The sun sets, giving way to the moon as it begins to rise in the star-studded night sky. The creatures of the night start their activities, hunting, fighting and more. Hours go by and finally the sun rises again, its radiant rays of light pass through the window and enter a boy's room, resting on his eyes, waking him up.

*Yawn*

"A new day has finally begun." I stretch, getting out of bed. "I have to go to the guild, I want to start my work right away." I rub my sleepy eyes.

*rhombus*

'But I think I'll eat something first, after all I didn't touch anything yesterday.' I go to the basin of water in the corner of the room, brushing my face and teeth with a wooden toothbrush.

'Alright now that I'm ready, let's see if Jusy and Gald have woken up yet.' I leave the room and head towards the stairs that lead to the lower floor. At the bottom of the stairs I can already see that a person has gotten up and is already at work.

"Gald, good morning, I was hoping you were already awake." I greet him on my way to the counter.

"Hello Darion, basically it's normal that I am the owner of the inn, everything must be ready for the customers as soon as they wake up." She smiles at me, motioning me to sit on the chair across the counter.

"I can't help but totally agree with what you're saying about getting everything ready..." *growl* My stomach rumbles at just the right moment.

"Ahaha I see someone is very hungry, luckily I have a freshly cooked breakfast right here." Gald grabs something from under the counter, it was a plate that contained two fried eggs, two slices of bacon, and two slices of bread with butter on top. "Please, enjoy your meal."

"Then I won't make you repeat it twice, thank you very much." I start eating everything on my plate with a wooden fork. "All very well- *coff coff*" I try to express my compliments, but in doing so I choke on food.

"Hey hey, don't drown, I know you're very hungry, but try to take your time, here you go." Gald hands me a glass of juice.

*Sip*

I drink the juice very awkwardly. "Ahhhhhh, thanks again Gald, you saved my life." The juice, which turns out to be orange juice, flows down my throat, freeing me from stuck food and cooling my throat.

"I don't think the situation was that bad, but that's okay." Gald starts polishing the utensils on the counter again.

I finish breakfast and get ready to go out, but I remember something, indeed someone. "Gald, won't Jusy come down to breakfast?" I haven't seen Jusy yet, maybe she's not a morning person?

"She hasn't come down yet, most likely she'll be sleeping in her room." So is my assumption true? I don't know why, but I'm not very convinced.

"Okay, then say hi to me and tell him I'm going on my first mission today so I can pay off my debts to you two." He slid off his chair as I headed for the door.

"Don't worry Darion, what you did for Jusy is so much more than what we gave you, after all a life is priceless." Gald seems to have a grim expression on his expression, but I don't think much of it and walk out of the inn.

'Even though it's early in the morning, people are very active right now.' The first thing I see when I walk out of the facility is a significant amount of people who are already busy for the day. 'From what I can see they are mostly factory workers.'

I start walking towards the guild, remembering which way it is.

'Gald seemed strange to me, I certainly haven't known him for a long time, but compared to yesterday he seemed... upset? I think that's the right term.' I've decided, when I go back to the inn I'll ask for something, after all it's the people who have given me room and board, I can't ignore it, if there's something I can do I'll do it.

With these thoughts in mind, I head to the guild. There are already some adventurers coming in and out of the guild, they are already at work here too I see.

"Good, let's see if my documents are ready." I head towards the entrance and enter the building, I go straight towards the counter and I immediately notice a familiar face, the girl who yesterday was completing the paperwork for my documents herself. "Hi, I'm the boy from yesterday, I don't know if you remember the problem of the document." I say good morning, trying to get the girl's attention.

"Oh sure, good morning to you too. Your documents are already ready, I'll get them for you, just give me ten minutes." The girl goes into the room behind the counter to look for my documents.

"Sure, I'll wait here." Ten minutes ehhh, what can I do in the meantime? I turn my head to observe my surroundings, an interesting part of the guild is known. 'The mission board, sure.'

I walk up to that board and begin to inspect the contents. There were many types of missions, from the simplest to the most complicated. 'By the time I get my papers in hand I'll definitely be in grade F, the lowest. Consequently, I will not be able to undertake missions above my rank.'

"I certainly won't gain much from these low-level missions, but it's already something to get started." I see a mission and immediately take it. 'From what is written here, the distance is not much and the gain is balanced, I can complete it today.' I go back to the counter and at the same time the girl returns with the documents in her hand.

"Sorry for the wait, here are your documents." She gives me a bronze tag, with my personal data written on it: name, age, height, etc ...

And in the upper right corner is the guild symbol. "Thanks, and since I wanted to get to work immediately I decided to undertake this mission." I hand over the flyer, with the mission indicated.

"Oh her's already chosen her first mission, perfect. Her rank is F, so she can do it without problems. But I have to inform her of one matter, boy, every month she must complete at least ten missions of her same rank, otherwise we will be forced to exclude her as an adventurer and as a result you will not be able to join a guild again for at least a year, so beware." That's what Jusy was risking by not completing that mission.

"Okay, I'll do my best then, thanks for the warning." The girl smiles at me handing me the flyer with a stamp on it that she has now marked.

"Thank you for your understanding and I wish you good luck." She bows slightly giving me good luck. I shake her hand, thanking her.

'Well, let's go fix this, and I have just the right person in mind to accompany me.' I go back to the inn, with a possible solution to Jusy's problem in mind.
