CHAPTER 10
BRIAN'S POV
Damn!
I got to the office again, upset and ashamed of myself.
I couldn't even talk to a girl properly!
I got an Intel that I could meet Carol if I waited a little bit outside a local grocery store. So I ran out of the office immediately and drove there tomorrow to see the girl I've been yearning to meet again.
After waiting I saw a figure in the dark come out with lots of brown paper bags. She seemed to struggle with it but still continued on her way. She was redheaded but I wanted to be sure it was Carol so I followed the figure in my car until the person stopped and turned back.
She began to run soon after, I guess she was scared.
I shouted the only name I could think of in my head at that moment and she turned, then stopped.
It definitely was my girl.
I reached out to talk to her, the most awful conversation I had ever had all by myself. I fucked up and she rejected my offer to drop her home.
Damn!
I almost sold myself out by letting her know how she got that house.
Yes I arranged everything for her.
She won't suffer on my watch.
I got a call from mom soon after. She wanted to see me.
I left work again, I didn't even achieve anything at work for the day yet and now I have to leave again to answer this crazy woman.
I got home to see her eating on the dining table so I joined her.
"Hello Mom, I'm here"
"Son, I wanted to talk to you"
"Okay, about?"
"Well it's about Candice"
My brows furrowed upon hearing that name.
"And what about her?"
I said in the most sarcastic way ever.
"I got her reported to her father. He has sent her off to Australia to stay for a while. She also got a handwritten letter for you. According to her, she's sorry"
I just smirked.
The whole thing was amusing. So she thought a handwritten letter would make me let it go??
Not even a chance.
I took the letter from mom and tore it into pieces. Utterly disgusted.
I stood up from the dining table immediately, the food began to taste bland and I was already losing appetite.
"Tell her I'm not interested in her fucking apology!"
I left, I didn't even want to hear another word from Mom. I'm done!
If she can't support me and listen to my choices then we are done. I said to myself storming off in my new car.
I definitely wasn't having this today.
CAROL'S POV
I had to prepare for work by getting my hair ready and other things I needed to buy.
I woke up super early.
My apartment was a mess with bugs everywhere, I slept off without clearing off the snacks I ate off the table.
I had to start cleaning with my lazy ass.
I was done eventually, showered and left the house for Azalea's. I needed to pack out.
On getting there the door was wide open. It seemed she was around somewhere but I couldn't find her, I didn't hear her voice either.
I called out her name severally but there was no reply. I got alarmed and check every place in the house unt I got to my room, the last I checked because it was almost impossible for her to be there.
She was lying on the floor, unconscious.
She slit her wrist.
On seeing the sight my eyes dilated unconsciously. Why would she do that??
I reached for my cell phone and dialed 911.
"Hello" I got a response from the other end and proceeded to speak.
"Good day, please this is an emergency!! My mom's unconscious! We're in need of medical assistance. Please help us!!"
"Address please?"
"14 Berkeley high Street"
I said in the most alarming way possible and my hands were all shaky.
"We'll be right there soon"
I didn't really know what else to do but wait. This crazy lady would kill me one day. Who's gonna cover the bills??
The ambulance came in less than ten minutes and carried her straight to the hospital. I had to go along with her since I'm the only family she had, sigh. Why would she even try to slit her wrist anyways?? I just hoped that she would be okay.
On getting to the hospital, we got seperated at the door because she had to enter the emergency room while I waited outside; answering bombarding questions.
After about three hours, she was moved out to a normal patient's room and the doctor assured me that she would be okay.
But then he said something after that totally disorganized me.
The bill. Someone had covered it.
But who? Under short notice?
No wonder I wasn't bothered at all to pay an advance medical payment before they commenced a little surgery on Azalea to stitch her wrist back together and stop the blood flow.
"Who please?"
I had to ask.
"Kindly meet the payment personnel"
I ran to the payment personnel's office to check it out.
"Brian Collymore? Brian Collymore?? As in the Brian Collymore??? The Rich CEO??"
And why would he do that? Where does he know me or Azalea from?
I left the office in shock because I was really surprised. My feets were all wobbly and shaky but I needed to see Azalea and know how she's doing so I went to the patient ward to check up on her. She was still unconscious but I was told she'll wake up in a few hours. She rested freely and pure, without any stress.
I couldn't even find any wrinkles on her face anymore. She was okay. She seemed relieved about something.
I ran out to a nearby kiosk and a mall to get a change of clothes and hospital supplies she would need. I also got her coffee that she loves so much. I just felt nothing but care for her even though she had hurt me for a long period of time.
I'm going through all this because of her but my kind heart still forgives her.
Damn it!
I came back and saw some men in suits by Azalea's ward. They were about four in number standing right outside the door. They seemed to be bodyguards, protecting a certain someone in the room. My mind went to a lot of things and I became scared but I summoned up courage and walked up to one of them to let me in.
They seemed to recognize me when I was approaching and didn't even say anything. They just shifted and let me in.
I got in and saw him, The Brian guy.
