As Basil and I approached the entrance of Golden Gates Magic School, I couldn't help but marvel at the grandeur of the gates. They were made of solid gold and were intricately designed with swirling patterns and symbols that seemed to glow in the sunlight. The gates were flanked by two enormous stone statues of magical creatures, their eyes seeming to follow us as we walked by.
As we walked through the gates, the surroundings were equally as impressive. The school was massive and had a beautiful garden filled with all kinds of flowers and plants. The school was bustling with activity as students were rushing to get to their classes. I saw students from all over the world, and I couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed by the diversity of cultures. I saw students of all different origins, some wearing robes and others dressed in more modern clothing. I could hear the sounds of spells being cast, and the chatter of students as they walked to and from their classes.
However, what caught my attention were the tabs that were hovering over the students' heads. They were colorful and had information written on them, but I couldn't make out what they said. I mentioned this to Basil, "What tabs do you mean?" he asked confused about it and he too seemed to be intrigued by the tabs.
"Can you see what's written on them?" I asked for the sword, and to my surprise, it replied with a yes. I was fascinated by this revelation and asked the sword to explain it to me.
"Perhaps it's one of your special abilities Yamiru," the sword replied. "As an item bonded to you, I'm able to see what you are seeing currently and these tabs that you are referring to are the first time I've seen them so this is clearly from you."
This was amazing, but it also made me wonder if I could see my own tab. I asked the sword if it was possible, and it responded with a yes. I immediately looked for a reflective surface and spotted a nearby window. I walked towards it and examined my reflection, focusing on the tab above my head.
As I concentrated, the tab became clearer but I still couldn't read what was on it. I try to get closer but everyone started staring at me. In a weird manner, I felt awkward so I stopped and decided it would be best to do it in the bathroom where I could see myself in a mirror instead of a window.
"Can others see my tab?" I asked the sword, but it remained silent. Basil, who had been observing me, asked what was wrong, and I explained to him about the tabs and my ability. "I see these tabs on top of people's heads and when I see them use their abilities and such, it gets updated. It happened when you used your vines and your healing on me. The tab on your head suddenly just updates. It also tells me about a certain level about you."
"Oh, what level does it say on my head? I mean I've heard of leveling up skills but seeing your own is odd to me." Basil asked me.
"It says that you're level 15," I answered him.
"That's incredible!" Basil exclaimed. "I've never heard of anyone with such an ability. You must be special, Yamiru. That's also going to be useful since if you look to someone you can know about them."
I felt a bit self-conscious at Basil's comment, but I couldn't deny that the ability was unique. I wondered if there were others in the school with similar abilities or if I was the only one.
We continued to walk through the school, and I couldn't help but stare at the tabs above people's heads. I was curious about the information they held and wondered if there was a way to turn off the ability, as it felt overwhelming at times.
As we walked, I felt a sense of excitement and nervousness building inside of me. I was about to start a new chapter in my life, and I couldn't wait to see what the school had in store for me. But at the same time, I felt a sense of trepidation. What if I wasn't good enough? What if I didn't fit in with the other students?
Basil must have sensed my anxiety, because he put a hand on my shoulder and said, "Hey, you're going to do great. You've got this."
I smiled at him, grateful for his encouragement. "Thanks, Basil. I really appreciate it."
As soon as I saw her, I knew it was her. The little girl I had saved from the bus accident before I died. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things, but she was still there, standing on the other side of the room. My heart raced as I tried to understand why she kept appearing in my mind. I felt a strong pull toward her as if she was trying to tell me something important.
Without a second thought, I started running toward her. I had to know who she was and what she wanted from me. Basil followed after me, his footsteps echoing behind me as I ran. "Yamiru, wait up! Why are you running?" he called out.
"I have to find out who that girl is," I shouted back, my eyes fixed on her. "Can you see her?"
Basil looked confused as he shook his head. "No, I don't see anyone," he replied.
As we got closer, the little girl noticed us and started to run away. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I chased after her, determined not to lose sight of her. We turned the corner and ran down the hallway, but when we reached the end, the girl had disappeared.
When I looked around and with haste I tried to see but suddenly I felt a thud hitting me, a raspy voice then shouts. "Ouch!" As I hit them and make them fall down to the ground. I then look at myself as embarrassed as I accidentally just hit another student...
