"Your majesty, I can say with certainty that the border town has been left bare."
King Harolis Bristow III watched the young trembling soldier who was the highest ranked surviving soldier from the attack on the human city of Nok with barely concealed disgust. He was glad the team of inexperienced vampires were able to overpower the technologically advanced humans even though he knew tje city they had attacked was one of the least advanced city in the Thonis empire.
"I'm glad you succeeded." he said flatly waving his hands and his guards immediately moved to escort the trembling soldier out of the throne room.
King Harolis Bristow prided himself in being the only just and fair ruler the vampires had ever had, being one of the few vampires who had magical powers; more than one magical power, it gave him the edge over all ither vampires and kept him on the throne for that long and so he always got very irritated when people kept him waiting for long especially when it was the one person he didn't truly have control over in his kingdom. He was about to leave the throne room for his personal chambers when the door was thrown open with a bang and Tal walked into his chambers all hoods and masks
"You're late." the vampire king snapped at him teeth bared
Tal only smiled and moved to seat in the empty seat by the king's side knowing fully well the king would he irritated by that action. King Harolis sat back on his throne and watched the man seated beside him intentionally waste his time.
"Do you have anything to say?" He finally asked with enough venom in his voice to frighten any other person but most definitely not Tal
"I've just returned from Catala." Tal sighed "It was a long journey." Tal drummed his fingers on the arm of his seat "Why was there an attack on Nok?"
"We needed to make a statement."
"What statement exactly, Bristow?"
King Harolis bristled at the lack of respect for his status but only the slight twitch of his fingers gave away his anger "we're coming for them."
Tal shook his head "That was highly unnecessary."
"They took something from me and I'd like to take it back." Harolis was visibly seething as he rose from his throne, lightning sparked from his finger tips as he faced the very calm Tal.
"You destroyed a town and successfully killed a general."
"Then I'd say it was a success."
"I wouldn't be so sure, your Majesty."
King Harolis frowned "What exactly does that mean?"
Tal just stared at the door at the other end of the room, which opened almost immediately and two guards rushed in and bowed their heads
"What?" Harolis growled
"There's been an attack on Whitefield." one of the guards answered
"What happened exactly?"" King Harolis asked
"A couple of bombs I'm sure." Tal answered and the guards nodded their agreement.
"Fetch me the twins and tell the rest of the council to take charge in my absence." He barked at the two guards who flinched but rushed out to carry out his bidding as he too walked towards the back of his throne and drew out twin swords that he strapped to the waist of his pants and he turned back to speak to Tal only to find the mysterious man had dissapeared. King Harolis stood for a few seconds staring at the empty seat wondering why exactly he had chosen to trust a man he knew absolutely nothing about and if he was right to do so.
Whitefield was a shadow of itself when king Harolis and the twins arrived there, the usually vibrant town that boasted numerous fields of white flowers was unusually blackened with the smell of blood, gore and smoke filling the air.
Jace and Kace or was it Kace and Jace; King Harolis had issues remembering who was who exactly, both of them moved with precision quenching the fires and healing whoever they could heal on the spot. He surveyed the area and wondered exactly how enemy weapons and missiles had escaped the eyes of the watchers and all the magical barriers around his empire
"My King." King Harolis turned to see Talia the commander of his Army standing behind him, head bowed.
"How?"
"We don't know, it's as mysterious as ever." Talia said with a shrug
He moved fast, faster than even any vampire and he had held her by the throat and slammed her on the wall behind her
"You're not a commander to give me half ass answers and shrugs?" He growled at her
"I'm sorry." she gritted out forcefully and he threw her down to her knees.
"They threw bombs made from something we've never seen before, not even magic could stop it "She told him and he turned her back to her and walked away.
Talia watched the king walk away all the whole glaring at him form behind, she womdered how exactly the man had been able to stay on the throne without anyone taking him out but she was about to find out "Now." she whispered into the device beeping inside her ear
Almost immediately, series of bombs both magical and lab manufactured dropped directly above King Harolis along with over fifty drones and robots.
They were in formation both above and before the king shooting lasers, mage infused magical powers in the robots and drones.
Harolis looked subdued for what felt like a minute or two and Talia had enough hope in her chest to smile but in the next second she watched as he stood to his feet like a man possessed, his body covered in flames which should have been impossible for a vampire; he moved with the fluidity of a predator and began tearing apart the robots swarming him one after the other with his flames, he was dripping with mechanical fluids after his one sided battle with the robots and stared straight at Talia who trembled at the sight of him looking like a Demon of death
"Thistle right fucking now." Talia screamed into the device in her ear and immediately thistle infused robots dropped again from the AI controlled fighter jets overhead running straight at the king who was staring at her with fury in his eyes, that promised a vengeance whenever he met her again.
The thistle robots finally got to him and King Harolis unleashed the full fury of his flames but the robots didn't budge one bit and kept attacking like hounds from hades, the vampire king realized the metallic creatures were unbreakable by his powers. One of the robots slashed through his arms that healed almost immediately but in that second of weakness the other robots were able to see an opening and came at him all metallic claws and all punching and slashing at the vampire king spilling his black blood all over the battle field. Talia had thought the king subdued as he fell to his knees and stumbled, one of the robots tried to put on thistle cuffs on his arms and with his last remaining strength and realized an earth shattering growl and even the robots paused and they all watched as the muscles at his back began spasming and deep orange, flamelike colored feathers grew out of the curve on his back, and extended into long drawn out wings and he took one last look at Talia before taking off in the sky.
