CHAPTER 9: BREAKDOWN
LUOZHEN APARTMENT
After finishing dinner Aaron and Iris watched some popular shows on television. They also discussed a lot of instances during their life this week, it was like an unspoken tradition between them.
Every Friday both would share interesting things happening in their lives and the latest gossip.
Time passed very quickly and soon it was 11 p.m.
"Iris, it's late you should go to sleep, you were just discharged today so you should rest more."
"Alright, I will go sleep, you should also rest."
Soon they both went to their rooms to sleep.
Even though she said that she would go to sleep she just lay on her bed without closing her eyes.
Iris wanted to search for some more useful points in the previous owner's memory.
In her memory, Iris found that even though the previous owner was not very intelligent she had a huge interest in plants she would grow them and take care of them very nicely. Even though Aaron did jobs, that was only enough for their daily life with food, bills, and education taking most of it, thus after growing these plants, she brought a small flower shop at the end of Aver Street, one of the most popular streets in the city.
The flowers she sold were fresh and beautiful so many people came to buy them however, it was only open during the weekend thus she could not earn much. This earned money was then saved in their bank for future needs.
Thinking that, she wanted to check the garden at the back of the house after all no one had taken care of them for a whole week.
She got out of bed and walked behind the house. There was a small garden with a variety of plants in there, Iris would pluck the plants from there and sell them at her shop.
When she reached the garden, she saw many different plants from her memory however most of them had wilted.
She went near those plants and took a look at them, they were all common flowers that could easily be found in the market with a few rare species here and there.
There were wilted chrysanthemums too
Chrysanthemums represented death. After so long it finally hit her, she had died, died an unjust death. Her mother had also died.
Questions started spinning in her head.
Why was she given another chance to live?
What for?
Why her?
If she had just died maybe she could meet the soul of her mother. She suddenly did not want to live.
After so long the severity of the matter finally hit her and she was at a loss. Those clear, pure, and innocent eyes suddenly dimmed, grief and sadness that should not be seen in someone her age could be seen in them.
Her eyes started to become hazy, and tears started pooling in her eyes and flowed out. She was shocked as if struck by lightning. In her previous life when Evelyn had tortured her, she would grit her teeth refusing to make protests or cry but now she was shedding tears.
She herself did not know why she was crying. Was it because she died? or because her mother died? or because there were questions swirling in her mind like why did something like this happen to her? What had she done wrong? Why was she given another chance? Why couldn't she just die?
However, all these questions remained unanswered. In the quietness of the night, you could only see a beautiful girl as if she had ascended from the heavens sobbing between the wilted flowers.
It was as if someone had choked her, there was a lump in her throat, she wanted to scream, she wanted to thrash everything, she wanted to KILL.
At that moment everything stilled, KILL, yes, she wanted to KILL. She wanted to KILL those that had wronged her and could not see her happiness.
She wanted to go to her family, someone who cared and loved her, but she did not have one.
No, she still had her brother though not biologically related, he was the only one she could call family, well now two, since Aaron was added.
She stopped crying. She couldn't cry, those people were not worth her tears.
She refused to cry.
