Silver soon felt like he was on another world. He could see himself in the woods, drenched in his sweat, looking rugged. He tried looking for a way out of the woods but later found out he was moving in circles.
" Where the f**k am I? " he was totally confused and frustrated. He felt like he could not remember anything, which irked him even more.
Soonest, he noticed an hollow crack on the floor at about 10 meters away. He walked towards it with curiosity.
" This wasn't here a minute ago. How did it appear out of nothing? " He went even closer and jumped back away in fright.
Below him were several eyes watching him closely from the hole. He started having an eerie feeling and ran back trying to find his way back at all cost. Suddenly he felt his legs got stuck on the ground.
" Not so fast. " an eerie voice spoke, making Silver to almost pee his pants. Behind him, he could hear several footsteps and eerie animal-like sounds. The footsteps gradually grew close to him while he was still stuck on the ground. He decided to accept fate as life didn't want him anymore.
Suddenly, he heard a swift movement, and sword slashing and clashing. There were different screams is agony all behind him. He tried his best turning his head to see what was behind him, all to no avail.
" What could have killed those monsters? " Lost in his thoughts, Silver felt a tap on his shoulders. He jolted and found out he could move. He turned back to see the same old man who helped him when he was drunk, and gave him an eerie feeling.
" Good to see you again Silver. " He greeted placing his sword back on its sheath.
" What? How did you find me? Who are you? I need an answer now! " Silver felt he was going nuts and couldn't control his emotions anymore.
" Sigh... I am a messenger from the heavens, and I have come to fulfil what should be fulfilled. " He replied simply.
" And what is that? " Silver frowned
" No need to go into details. Just know that you are in the night-slayers territory. And you cannot get out of here except you have the scent of magic in you. " The old man explained.
" What? How did I end up here? I just failed my awakening, how am I supposed to bear the scent of magic? " Silver almost felt like crying.
" Well that's because you were not destined to awaken magic. You are destined to become magic. " The old man shrugged and Silver couldn't help but to giggle.
' This old man could really tell jokes in times like this. ' Silver mused.
" Well, like I said earlier, I'm a messenger and I have come to prepare you for the first step of gaining your system. " The old man said and chanted some words. He acted like he was collecting an imaginary thing from the air and truly, he held a book.
" This is what you need to activate the magic in you. You should study it well, as what you know will determine what you can do. " He handed the book to Silver. Silver looked at the golden, solid covers of the book which was as big as an encyclopedia.
He collected the book and his hands soon suffered from strain as the book was very heavy. He noticed the weird title which didn't look like a writing, but like a drawing.
" Remember you are still dreaming. All these things will stick to your memory like something you encountered in reality. Now go! Conquer the world with your magic! " The old man said enthusiastically.
" Uhm... by the way did you just mention system? What the hell is that? and by what you have said, I can't leave this place if I don't have the presence of magic. So how would I leave?! " Silver glared at the old so called messenger like he had memory loss.
" cough... cough... Well that's true. And yes I said system. Any information you need about that is on the book. I'm not in charge of telling you those things. And for how you will leave here, well I'll wrap a layer of magic around you and you have to get out of this maze in 30 minutes or you will forever be doomed here. " The old man replied.
" What? aren't you going to come with me? " silver frowned.
" Well no. I am not allowed to present during day. Now go! " The old man swiped his hands in circles and Silver felt like he was wrapped around something warm.
" Wow... so this is feeling magic brings. " He ran as fast as he could without looking back, even with the heavy book with him.
He felt glad as the heavens had destined him to be a magician after all. He found out he was able to get out of the maze in the forest without stress and in reality, he woke up. As the old man has said, it was really day.
He looked at his hand and found the book still with him. He grinned and decided to get set for the day before studying it.
