Dante hid behind the pillar as the roar of mana blasts tore through the air, large chunks of the pillar he hid behind began to break off, piece by piece, from the force alone. Entire guilds and organisations were hunting him down now.
BANG!
A large block was just pierced through. It seemed to be from a B class, as it went through a thick layer of concrete like butter. The blast went through Dante's right arm, crippling him and making his arm limp down. 'Fuck' Dante thought as he dodged the other constant mana projectiles aiming for him. Using a low class movement art he eventually landed in a small hole. He wanted to scream in pain due to the large gaping hole in his right arm. Within his left arm he held a book, The Heavenly Demon Sword Arts, one of the most powerful techniques in existence.
Dante had been tricked into stealing the book which was said to be "worthless". So in dire need of the money, Dante decided to take the task on.
WSHHH!
A mana slice flew through the air this time, cutting Dante's right cheek deeply. Had he been 2 inches to the right, his life would have ended. It instead landed on the wall next to him, creating a vertical slash. It dug in lightly, carving a mark upon the wall.
"Come out Dante. You really know how to fuck up. You had everything from birth yet you threw it all away to be a criminal." The man screamed as he approached Dante's location. This was Lucas, one of the people who made his life hell previously in the academy. Lucas ended up graduating well and befriending the hero in the academy. Whilst Dante was expelled the second year for a crime he never committed, this led to even more hatred being received from his sister and family. "Come and face your death you B rank trash. I'm not even sure how you managed to get that rank." Lucas steps closer toward Dante, he sliced the pillar creating a clean diagonal slope. The top of the pillar slowly slid down making a thud as it fell over. "Not behind this one, huh." Lucas mumbles under his voice as he pulls back his blond hair from covering his eyes.
"Dante, your sister... She was real nice you know..." Lucas laughed as he tried to antagonise Dante further. "Vanessa was absolutely amazing in b..." His words were abruptly stopped as he dodged a weak mana bolt going towards his head. "I found where you were hiding bitch!" He screamed as he ran towards Dante with his sword drawn to his side, using his left foot he gently jumped up onto a pillar, gracefully leaping from pillar to pillar he moved at a quick pace towards Dante who was standing still. Feet fluttering steps, a B class Movement art. It allowed him to leap short distances at an incredibly quick pace.
Lucas jumped quickly towards the air, the sun which was almost about to set creating a silhouette and illuminating his elegant form like a swan in the air, and began to free dive and pounce onto his target. Red Dragon Tail Slice, an A class Swordsman art. "You're finished!" Lucas shouted as he created a slashing motion toward Dante. A large Red Dragon's tail appeared on the blade glowing red as if it was about to whip the target. The dragon's tail circled and cut straight ahead into Dante. However, Dante's figure just disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
"Tsk." Lucas clicked his tongue and threw his sword down planting it in the ground. He kicked the dirt around him and screamed "It was a fucking clone! Haha!" He laughed like a maniac with large amounts of killing intent releasing out of him. "Well. Fine, if the bitch doesn't want to die by my hands..." He gazed into the far distance, Dante had most likely gone west to escape now.
"I guess, your luck's run out little dog. You've fallen straight into the palms of our hero Edward. Death is all that fate has left for you..." Lucas sits down and uses his sword as support, taking out his phone he calls the person he has saved on his phone as Edward.
ring...
ring...
brttt...
"Speak." A deep and noble voice was heard from behind the speakers of the phone."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Dante's Location in the west. An hour after meeting Lucas.
"Luckily I still had enough mana to cast a B rank clone or else, I would have died."
Using his movement art Dante escaped, if all things went well for him he would be free and he could get rid of the book that caused him trouble once and for all. But that is just a fool's dream as he now spotted an army of awakened mana users.
At the front of all of them was Edward, in a glorious suit of armour, somehow shining even under the night sky. However, it was the people behind him that really and truly broke his spirit. His parents, sister, brother, and even his ex-fiancé. Each one of them had abandoned Dante and betrayed him in their own ways. His ex-fiancé and sister ended up joining Edward's harem as Dante was stripped of everything. The crowds and masses cheer for Edward as they believe he and his team will clear out all the dungeons and save them from the Demonic Monarch. This was all due to him being blessed with the SSS weapon Excalibur and having SSS potential from birth, whilst Dante was given a B rank only. This disappointed everyone greatly as even his sister received SS rank potential.
Dante now stood in an open field with no trees and only small amounts of grass, it seems there would be no hiding now. He also cannot use a movement art as Edward possessed a S rank movement art which could easily overpower him and hunt Dante down. The already exhausted brain of Dante began turning once again. After 5 minutes, Edward arrived with the masses, they had all paused and were 50 meters away from Dante. The looks they held for him were sickness and disdain.
He could even see his parent's faces. They were filled with disappointment, his mother was crying whilst looking at him with fear in her eyes like she had raised a demon. His father looked quiet and solemn, as if he was ready to kill a beast. His sister was filled with hatred as her face turned red with fury. Dante's ex-fiancé was not even focused on him she was smiling and laughing with Edward when she did glance at him, however, there was a glint of pity in her eyes. Yet her face was filled with disgust for him, it was as if she had found a bug inside of her food.
Dante sat down on the cold hard floor, tired and bleeding from his wounds. He was incredibly low on mana and was very close to passing out. That was not the worst feeling for him at this moment.
Under the pale moonlight, he sat alone on the blood soaked grass. Stared at by thousands of people, but not one thought about helping him. To them, he was already a villain, even though he had done nothing wrong. Society followed the strong and he has been labelled as such.
At this moment, Dante felt truly alone...
