The sounds of crinkled snow underneath the foot of a paw broke the silence of white noise. Tons upon tons of white snow fell from the gloomy white clouds, casting a silky white overcast.
The trees were yellow with patches of dead white bark, and even more snow atop the branches made it look like a pillar of clouds.
A dark black rabbit hops through the white wonderland. The tip of his ears had been frozen thoroughly, turning them necrotic and a danger to the little ball of fur. Its eyes were a deep red, stained with blood.
Its teeth were yellow and stained with blood; this rabbit hadn't been feasting on any regular carrots, in this ecosystem, the only way to live was to feast on others. "The nail that stands out gets hammered first." A female voice spoke from within one of the trees.
Before the rabbit could even register the noise, a pure white arrow pierced it straight through the chest. A shower of red stains the blinding snow, offsetting its overwhelming dominance over this terrain. The arrow sticks itself into the snow, the tip covered in warm blood.
The black rabbit twitches and squeals in anguish as the muscles in its body start to tense up and immediately freeze. The hot, warm blood circulating in its body immediately froze the moment its heart stopped beating the circulated fresh, warm blood to warm itself.
From the trees emerges a white silhouette, camouflaged within the white. "That's dinner." They jump down from the trees and land on the blanket of snow on the ground. The snow crumples like paper underneath the white boots of this figure.
From head to toe, this figure was decked out in white gear and clothing. From their hair to the bottom of their boots, a perfect, untarnished white covered the figure entirely, just like the very ground they stood on.
"Still slightly warm." The figure placed its white gloves on the carcass of the rabbit, only to have its pristine white gloves stained with blood. The figure reached into their white bag, which hung from a strap around their waist, grabbing a syringe.
Raising the rabbit by the arrow in its chest, blood dripped down the black rabbit's fur, falling onto the snow. Injecting the syringe deep into the chest, they drew out blood from the motionless rabbit.
"Dr. Cheval is going to love this sample." The figure's voice was slightly high-pitched, a voice only a female could have. The figure heard the sound of a twig snapping, immediately alerting her to the presence of something. She turns around and drops the syringe onto the ground, causing a tiny drop of blood to leak from the tip.
She reached over her shoulders and drew her bow, pointing it in the general vicinity of the sound. From the bottom of her mask, a white cloud seeps from the sides of her face, her hot breath turning into mist the moment it left her warm mouth.
Her breathing was stable and calm, but her heartbeat was racing at a million miles an hour. Even with layers upon layers of clothes on top of each other, she could still feel individual snowflakes falling on her as she stood rooted to the ground.
Her beads of sweat rolled down the side of her face as she waited patiently for the threat to make itself apparent. She waited patiently, her arrow to the side of her face fully extended.
The trees twisted and swayed to the side as something massive made its way towards her. "Is it one of them?" She swallowed her spit. Emerging from the clouds of white was another blob of white, this time with claws and razor-sharp teeth. A giant polar bear emerged from the bushes!
Without hesitation, the girl releases her finger from the drawstring and fires the arrow straight towards the white beast. The bear growls in defiance as the arrow can't even penetrate through its tough fur. "Shit!" Dropping the bow, the girl opts for a better solution. Running away.
Without looking back, the girl starts running in the opposite direction of the bear. The bow and syringe are left on the ground.
"I need to get back!" The girl rips her mask off, revealing a young girl with pure white skin. Her skin looked like silk, and her eyebrows were whiter than the snow that surrounded her. Her luscious white hair was tied in a bun with loose strands hanging off the front of her face. She had a prominent blush, as the contrast between her blush and skin was so grand. Besides her blush, the only thing that wasn't white was her dreamy blue eyes that reflected the sky, the birds above her flying inside of her eye.
The bear follows suit, running towards the girl faster than she could run. Its massive giant paws crushed the syringe of blood that lay on the ground, causing the bear's paw to be imprinted on the snow with a dark red.
The girl removed her boots as she ran; running barefoot allowed her to run even faster. The skin on her feet was completely white too, and her nails were painted a glossy white. Everything about this particular girl was white.
The girl looked over her shoulders only to see the bear directly behind her, mere meters away from reaching her. Saliva dripped down the side of its mouth as it cried out. "It's faster than me!" The girl grabbed on top of a branch that was hanging above her; the snow that had laid on it had gotten between her fingers.
In one swift motion, the girl launched herself upward, using her bare feet to prop herself up onto the branch. "Hyup!"
The bear lunged at the girl, using its strong, keen feet to propel itself forward. Fortunately, she was able to make it to the top of the branch before the bear could reach her.
"Alright, bring it, you beast!" The girl rolled up her white sleeves, revealing an even paler white arm. Her muscles were defined and large, with veins running down her arms. She reached into her bag that hung on her waist and pulled out an axe. She gripped the axe with murderous intent, her skin folds wrapping around the wooden handle. "Come here!" She used her feet to propel herself off the branch, mimicking what the bear had done earlier. Using all her body weight, she drove the sharp end of the axe deep into the back of the bear's head, shattering its spine and swiftly ending its life. "Agh!" Blood sprayed all over her, staining her white clothes red.
She heaved heavily as she tried to catch her breath, the hot air instantly turning into a white mist as it left her mouth. A singular drop of blood had splashed onto her face, causing the blood to drip down slowly.
She wiped the blood with her even bloodier hand, smudging more blood on her face. The blood's dark and gritty color contrasted against her pale white skin and the snow around them.
The polar bear lay motionless on the ground, blood leaking from the back of its head and onto its fur, turning the once-white bear red.
