Chereads / Michael’s journey / Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Michael was nervous as he approached the designated meeting point. He had received a message from one of the rebel leaders that they were in urgent need of supplies, and he had arranged for a shipment from the Irish government to be sent to them. But the situation was tense, and he wasn't sure if he could trust anyone.

As he walked through the woods towards the clearing, he saw several armed rebels watching him cautiously. They recognized him and let him pass, but he could sense their suspicion. Michael knew he had to tread carefully.

When he finally reached the makeshift camp, he was greeted by one of the rebel leaders, a man named Liam. Liam had been skeptical of Michael at first, but over the past few months, they had developed a rapport.

"Michael, good to see you," Liam said as he shook his hand. "We're glad the supplies have arrived."

Michael nodded, "I had some trouble getting here, but I managed to get past the checkpoints."

Liam raised an eyebrow, "Trouble? What kind of trouble?"

Michael hesitated for a moment before deciding to tell Liam the truth. "I received reports that the German government is planning to eradicate any village where rebels are found in. I don't know if it's true or not, but I thought I should warn you."

Liam's expression darkened. "We've heard the same rumors. We've been trying to keep a low profile, but it's getting harder every day."

Michael nodded sympathetically. "That's why I arranged for these supplies. I know it's not much, but it should help you in the short term."

Liam clapped him on the back. "Every little bit helps. We appreciate it, Michael."

As they talked, Michael could hear the sounds of distant gunfire. He tensed up, but Liam motioned for him to stay calm.

"That's just a routine patrol. We're used to it by now," Liam explained.

Michael tried to relax, but he couldn't shake the feeling of danger. He knew he had to get out of there before it was too late.

"I should go," Michael said, edging towards the entrance of the camp.

Liam nodded, "Be careful out there, Michael. We'll stay in touch."

Michael nodded, "Take care of yourself, Liam."

As he made his way back through the woods, Michael could hear the sound of gunfire getting closer. He quickened his pace, hoping he could make it back to the city in time.

But just as he was about to reach the edge of the forest, he heard someone shout his name. He turned around to see Liam running towards him.

"Michael, wait!" Liam yelled.

Michael stopped, his heart pounding. "What is it?"

Liam took a deep breath before speaking. "We just received word that the German government is planning to launch a major attack on rebel camps across the country. They're coming for us, Michael. We have to leave now."

Michael nodded grimly. "I'll help you any way I can."

Together, they ran back towards the camp, their hearts heavy with fear. Michael knew that this was only the beginning of a long and bloody conflict, but he was determined to do whatever it took to support the rebels in their fight for freedom.
