After escaping the German forces with the rebels, Michael found himself lost and confused. He had just committed acts of violence and destruction that went against his principles. The dormant system had rewarded him for his actions, but he felt conflicted about it.
As they journeyed through the forest, Michael found himself isolated from the rest of the rebels. He needed time to think and process everything that had happened. The rewards from the dormant system kept appearing, but Michael was hesitant to accept them.
Finally, after a day of traveling, the group set up camp for the night. Michael was still struggling with the events that had transpired. He was sitting alone, staring into the fire when one of the rebels approached him.
"You okay?" the rebel asked.
Michael sighed. "I don't know. I never thought I would be capable of doing what we just did."
The rebel sat down next to him. "We don't always get to choose what we do in life. Sometimes we have to do what's necessary to survive."
"I know," Michael said, "but it feels like I've lost a part of myself."
The rebel nodded. "I understand. But you need to remember why we're fighting. We're fighting for our freedom, for our families, for our future. The German government has taken everything from us. We can't just sit back and let them continue to do so."
Michael thought about his family back in Ireland. He had left them to find his sick father and now found himself caught up in a rebellion against a government he didn't know existed a few weeks ago.
"You're right," Michael said, "I can't let my doubts and fears get in the way of what needs to be done."
The rebel smiled. "That's the spirit. We're all in this together."
The next morning, the rebels continued their journey, and Michael felt a renewed sense of purpose. He would do whatever it takes to help them achieve their goals.
As they traveled, Michael began to notice small changes in the landscape. The forest seemed less dense, and the trees were sparser. Soon they emerged into a vast plain, and Michael could see a city in the distance.
"That's Berlin," one of the rebels said, "we're getting close."
Michael felt a knot form in his stomach. He had never been to a city this big before, and he had no idea what to expect.
As they approached the outskirts of the city, Michael's attention was drawn to a group of rebels standing around a map, arguing with each other. He walked over to see what was going on.
"What's the problem?" Michael asked.
"We've hit a roadblock," one of the rebels said. "There's a fortified checkpoint up ahead. We can't get through without getting spotted."
Michael looked at the map and thought for a moment. "I have an idea," he said.
He pulled out his smartphone and accessed the dormant system. He had been hesitant to use it before, but he knew it was the only way they could get past the checkpoint undetected.
"I think I can get us through," he said.
The rebels looked at him skeptically, but Michael knew what he was doing. He accessed the system and input the coordinates of the checkpoint. Within moments, the system responded with a plan of action.
"We need to split into two groups," Michael said, "One group will create a diversion, while the other sneaks through the checkpoint. I'll be in the diversion group."
The rebels agreed to the plan, and Michael led the diversion group towards the checkpoint. They created a commotion, drawing the attention of the German guards while the other group snuck through undetected.
