Chapter 3 - Lock N Key

This wasn't part of the plan. Leon looked through the small window that was a view of the hallway, showing other offices that had people occupying them.

He turned on the lights and tried to find any sort of keys lying around. But just documents and different lying objects around.

Leon couldn't help himself but read what was on some of these pieces of paper. One paper had a title saying: Legal Magic sources and export branches.

He was confused about what that meant. He knew that Magic somewhere in the world existed but never knew that his city had connections to it.

"Wow, whoever left these here must be really stupid. But I'm also stupid for being locked here, so there's that." Leon thought to himself.

He continued to read further into the documents.

After an hour, he ended up learning that there were criminals from other places from the outside world with magic and illegal tactics. This had no relevance to him, so he decided to move those aside.

Leon went back to the door, which led to the hallway, and tried to find some way to break the lock. He started to hear someone approaching.

It was Price and his director and someone extra.

God forbid what would happen to Leon if they found him with these documents. But he knew he couldn't stay here forever and was bound to be found sometime.

He starts banging onto the small window until he got their attention. Price turned his head to the window and looked at Leon as if he were a comedy act. Price goes back to the pair to talk.

"Really? That petty, huh? Okay, I got an idea."

In a matter of seconds, blood. Glass. And electric enforcement of the window was broken. Not only had this landed into Prices face but also the director and his plus one.

"Ahh, that's gonna leave a mark." mumbled Leon. Adrenaline was stopping the pain from being severe. Price walks up to the door with aggression and distaste in the young man's decision. Opening the door with such force that almost breaks the hinges off and drags him onto the ground with handcuffs. Leon was somewhat fighting back Price since the officer didn't need any sort of physical training due to the fact that he was always in the air. The director was alarmed by this entire situation. Since the director was an old man, he didn't want to be caught up in any conflict and walked out of sight. The extra was a trainee is what it appeared to be. She was wearing a light coat of makeup, curly, wavy, and fluid hair. She was actually quite beautiful. They showed signs of anxiety and fragility. Must've been their first day.

Leon grabs Prices taser from his pocket in time and uses it against the officer. Tye trainee acts with false vigilance and tries to dilute the situation. While Price is on the floor, he starts to lose consciousness and passes out. Leon gets up and points to the trainee.

"Scream and your entire staff dies." Leon passed the point of no return. The trainee lifts her hands slowly, and her hands start shaking in fear of what could happen next.

"Do you know where the staff keys are?"

"N-no."

An officer walks around the corner and notices what's happening. He looks at Leon, then back at the trainee, then back to Leon, then back to the trainee.

A burst of electricity shot through the air, tethering onto the officer right next to the trainee.

She tries to grab her handcuffs from her side but ends up dropping it clumsily out of fear. She starts breaking down while looking at Leon.

He puts the taser down and walks backwards, turning quickly to the rest of the hallway.

Eyes darting from left to right, trying to find a door that has "lost and found" or "disposables" or anything honestly. The pain from earlier started coming back. He had to stay discreet as well, but what did it matter? He had nothing to lose.

A door that said "Export boxes" had a red sign on the door and a yellow warning label "Confidential information and other materials past this door." Leon opened it, and it was a stair case going down.

"Okay, what's this now?"

He steps carefully down the steps into this unknown location. It was dim and abandoned even. Somewhere, a normal civilian shouldn't go. The walls had some weird moss growing on it as well.

The staircase almost ended, and the door at the end was only open ajar. Leon creeped into the place, and he was presented with the last thing he would ever see in his entire life.

He was looking at his city from high above, but instead, this was a simulation of sorts. Everything looked identical. The feeling, the buildings, the people, and even the Gaudian Knights looked identical. It only showed a portion of the city, but why?

There was long hallway in the shape of a ring with a glass view looking down onto the city and its fake people. Leon looks to his left and sees some people reading a script of sorts and couldn't help but try and see what was on the pieces of paper.

"Hmm, that kind of looks like blueprint..." This is not what Leon was looking for, but it was quite interesting for him.

Leon walked back up the stairs, but his adrenaline was starting to wear off. He didn't know what to do about his bleeding hand, so he wiped it off with his shirt. It didn't stop the bleeding. Blood dripped onto the staircase. It would be trouble for anyone who was walking up or down these sets of stairs.

He reached the door, which led into the hallway. The trainee and Price were no were to be seen, and the other cop was out of sight. Must've dragged the body is what Leon had assumed.

He started to continue walking down to find any other doors that had a chance of his hoverboard in it.

"Repossession and Recovery" Sign. This was his last hope.

He opens the door, and he finds his hoverboard covered in dust posted against some other equipment in a small janitor like closet.

It was like a child being given candy. But now he has a bigger issue.

"How do I get out of here without alerting anyone?"

A police officer who seemed to be on break was close by. Leon hid inside the closet door where his hoverboard was.

The officer passes. Leon decides to follow this unknown officer, hoping it's some alternative exit.

It was. A large warehouse of different vehicles, cars, helicopters, concept cars, and hovercrafts were all here. Leon was honestly mesmerised by what he saw. He saw a few men wearing yellow highlighted vests walking off the runway. What was next to the runway was what interested the officer the most. A row of ATP vehicles that had sharp designs- car with wings, painted matte blue, and a red cherry light on top of them. The officer walks up to one of the vehicles on the far end of the parking lot.

Leon waits for the right moment for when the vehicle takes off. It starts to creep up onto the empty runway, and some workers signal for the craft to start the ignition sequence.

A blue stream of energy from its thrusters ignites and takes off into the sky. Quite honestly amazing.

Leon was up next with his hoverboard. If fast enough, he could possibly outpace the officers without alerting them.

It was now or never. Adrenaline started to jolt to a new level. A worker who was instructing the runway noticed Leon and his hoverboard.

He blows a whistle from his mouth to signal to the gatekeeper to shut it down before he leaves.

From 0 to 300km/h, the hoverboard to flight. The runway was long, but Leon had enough time to make it out. That's what he thought...

1.2km, 1.1km, 1km... 0.5km, 0.3, 0.1... The barrier was about to close...
