Chapter 4 - Blind spots and Vantage points.

The gate closed.

But Leon was higher than a bird right now. He had luckily made enough speed to escape. Any pain he felt prior to this was gone. Adrenaline and dopamine were at a all time high.

People who had lived in their high-rise buildings remember who Leon was because of his antics and trouble, but seeing him again ruined their day.

But he had a plan to execute. If he fails, it could end up him being served to the Gaurdian Knights, and honestly, no one in their right mind would want to be battered by one.

Leon took a moment to look around at the world that had kept him prisoner with the bottom dwellers. His superiority came back.

He took in a deep breath and said, "Okay, I'll see you in a moment."

Leon and his hoverboard took a dive into the city and started to glide around the place, swerving past flying transport, air traffic, and cargo drivers. It was like he never left.

Towards the library, he saw two Air Traffic Police around the corner. They must've already got the news about Leon and what happened at the office.

"I need to know what's in this USB,"

Leon was a desperate person. He will go at any length to get something. There were a few layers of security near the library.

He dropped off a 5th story apartment balcony. It was vacant. It seemed like no one was living here at all. Hmm, strange.

As he spent a while trying to find any blindspots. Some of them were just talking to each other. The Air Traffic Police officer started approaching security and must've been informing them about who Leon was.

"Okay, new plan."

Leon decides to get back onto his hoverboard and flies over to the library, high enough to see the glass roof. He starts to lower himself carefully, making sure that he isn't making any sound while doing this. It was slightly greasy and quite grungy, but this was all he got. Stepping on the surface wasn't a pleasant feeling. Since the roof was not a flat one, it was a prism shape. Leon was having a hard time grasping his feet onto the panels without sliding off. He remembered from a year ago when him and his previous friends showed him a secret exit through one of the vents above.

He wasn't sure how to get there, but he was determined.

In a spider position, Leon began crawling up the roof, looking for some sort of door or any kind of latch that would let him or anyone in. After crawling all of the moss and gunk, he found one. But it wasn't an ideal way to get in.

This was a glass roof that looked down into who was inside the library itself, so him going through that way would alert people who were capable of a lot of things outside of Leon's knowledge. He instead started crawling to one of the glass panels, which was loose. It was right above the third floor where students would come to study. It was lit by desk lamps, so they didn't catch the shadow of Leon right above them.

Moments after lifting the panel out was the easy part. The hard part was how he and his hoverboard were going to fit in the square.

He'd either one have to drop the hoverboard in first, which would end up creating unwanted attention or himself and leaving the board behind. The drop was about 3 metres down in an empty space, near a student desk.

This was a one-time chance. And he had to execute it right for no one to suspect him or alert any sort of authority.

Leon removes the glass panel with ease and sets it to the side. He turns on the hoverboard so that it is floating above the roof and easy access for Leon to get back onto.

Everything was set. Police and security guards were alerted about Leon, so he had to make it quick enough before people started cornering him inside the library.

He lands in the spot where it was quiet, there were students everywhere at their own desks, and a few walking to a different part of the library to get some books. It was fairly large and fairly warm. Anyone who was nearby would eventually feel the breeze coming from the window. But Leon was clueless about how he could solve that issue.

The world felt unreal to him, so much knowledge around him. He wasn't always the smartest kid in school.

After searching around, he found a computer in the second level of the library, a few students around, but they were too focused on what was in front of them. Some of these students wore robes, a grey and mint green, and uniform. They were all smartly dressed by the look of it. Some people had a badge on them. But Leon couldn't make them out...

He walked up to the nearest computer, and it seemed like someone had already logged onto it. Great for news for Leon.

He tugs the USB stick from his patchy back pocket and inserts it into the computer...

Blueprints of humans showed up. Human male and human female. And another of a human non binary. It was strange. Why does someone need these plans? Leon loomed around onto the folder and checked to see anything else. It was a list of people's names. They were all people who had been missing from the city for the past 3 years. Leon couldn't wrap his head around this.

"Studying humans, I'm assuming?"This must be someone's homework." "Hold on... why does this say, Alison Karter?"

Leon looked further into this research. At the bottom of the page, it said, "Magic exports, and resurface human intelligence. All information should follow NDA."

"Whats this about, I saw the term magic and exports just earlier."Are they working for the police?" "well-"

A bunch of code and numbers showed up, and it looked as if a virus had infiltrated the computer.

Was he found out about it? Luckily, the library computers did not have any small camera on them. Leon pulls out the USB stick with force and decides to leave through the window. One problem it was too high. Even after reaching the third level, there was no way to actually get back onto the roof without making a scene.

Leon decided to run down to the first level and grab a handful of thick books, and bring them to the third floor. A few students were a bit confused and slightly suspicious of what was happening. But there was one student who had already caught on what Leon was doing.

Leon stacks them so they are aligned with the glass panel. It was slightly wobbly, but he had to get out of here soon enough.

"whatchu doing over there?" A student in uniform wearing a black and gold badge walked up to Leon's stack of books with confidence.

"Please go away" is what Leon thought. "I'm trying to close the window. It's been open for a while now." is what was released from his mouth.

"Authorities know you're in here. I could easily stop you from going there. "

"What's your problem, man?"

"disturbing the peace of the students"

"Okay, then let me leave."

"How will we know that you won't come here again?"

" I won't, I'll jus-"

"Ah, it doesn't work like that. Do you have no respect?"

"Huh?"

A few students overheard their conversation and decided to draw closer in their swivelling chairs towards the pair.

"Listen, dude, I don't have anything to tell you. I gotta go,"

Leon gets off his stack of books to grab some more. He walks into the opposite direction of where the student is looking. Leon didn't care about most things and honestly couldn't worry about how things turned out for him.

But in a blink of an eye, his whole body froze up. A vile, cold, intense hand had landed on his shoulder. Without any words being shared, you could tell that one wrong move could be extremely bad for Leon.

"Now. Give me what's in your back pocket. " A deep and dark mysterious voice dominated Leon's ear and his entire body. His whole body had dropped onto the ground. But he was still standing up straight. The students around him were chuckling and laughing. But he was trapped. Falling into nothing...
