Chereads / Slayer: Rebirth of a Soldier as Slave / Chapter 59 - Deep in the Forest

Chapter 59 - Deep in the Forest

While Sir Warden is dealing with the danger the kids are put in.

Deep inside the forest. Circle 4 students are doing an investigation. It didn't take long for them to figure out the tracks of the beasts and soon they went to the other end of the Circle 4 forest. Here there is not just a fence, but rather a large wall was built.

And at that wall, they saw a bunch of beasts lying dead on the ground.

But their attention didn't last long on those beasts.

Because, there is a large hole in the wall. Everyone only had two words in their mind.

"Fucking Hell." One of them said it out loud.

The forest beyond Circle 4 is the wilderness that no one from the academy ever explored. It is filled with countless dangers and it is way beyond the strength of any students or even some instructors in the academy.

They examined the hold of the wall carefully and found something. It is a piece of fabric and they recognized it. It belongs to the Circle 2 students.

They exchanged a look and felt like they understood what might have happened to Viswa now.

"Sir Warden said, he will come and join in. Do you think there is any more reason or him to come?"

"I don't know man. He is a stubborn guy. He might want to come and take a look himself.

But from what we can see, if that kid was really dragged past this hole, there is no way he could be alive."

"Anyway, I think it is better if one of us goes back and reports this situation. The remaining three will stay here and guard the wall. We also need to keep a close eye on changes in the Circle 4.

The fence restrictions usually only work on the beasts of the four circles. But if something from wilderness has snuck in, then it would be a disaster for all of us."

"Then, you can go. You are the fastest, we will be here and guard this hole."

The other agreed without much hesitation.

The young man moved.

He ran for an hour at his top speed and made it back to the entrance of the forest within a hour and a half.

He immediately requested to meet Sir Warden.

When Sir Warden who stayed with the kids to make sure another attempt doesn't happen any time soon, saw this young man, he was stunned.

"Did you find him?" There is a hint of hope in his eyes. But too bad it was crushed the next instant.

The young man explained the situation and watched as Sir Warden's mood dampen more and more with every word.

He sat there helplessly and sighed.

"Just go and report to the headmaster."

He then looked at the kids around him. Right now, they are all in one room. He removed all the beds and made them sit in this room for now.

He felt lost and didn't know what to do at all.

Manavi looked at Sir Warden and gave him a hug before asking.

"Will Viswa be okay? He will be right?"

Sir Warden could sense the pain in her voice. He didn't understand how a Psychotic freak like Viswa and a pure hearted girl like Manavi got this close. But they are indeed very close.

He rubbed her hair gently. He didn't know how to answer her.

Because he himself is lost.

Right now the death threat is looming over all these kids. He doesn't know who will attack where will they attack from and how strong each attack would be.

On the other hand, Viswa is lost. He doesn't even know if Viswa is alive or not.

But no matter what he couldn't leave these kids and search for Viswa now. This uncertainty is killing him.

After a few minutes, he swallowed the bitterness and said.

"Yes. Viswa will be fine. He is a strong kid after all." He said as he patted her head gently. While in his heart, he told.

'I am Sorry Viswa.'

He made his decision. He cannot leave all these kids' lives and go search for Viswa. He needs to make sure everyone of these kids are safe. It is his responsibility and for that bigger responsibility he could only sacrifice his responsibility to Viswa.

He looked into the horizon and sighed.

He wished he didn't have to choose. But here he is.

While Sir Warden and the kids are lamenting Viswa's absence.

Deep inside the forest. Far beyond the Circle 4.

Even though it is almost afternoon, everything in the vicinity is completely dark. In that darkness under a dead tree, a young man could be seen lying down unconsciousness.

His whole body is fully worn and torn. There are a lot of scars on his body both front and back and his right arm was broken.

He is covered or rather drenched in blood. A lot of sand had dried on that once wet blood. He looked disfigured.

It is none other than Viswa.

Viswa groggily opened his eyes. His whole body felt sour and he felt like all of his muscle fibers were cut apart at the same time.

He tried to move his neck and see where he is, but he couldn't. He couldn't sit up either. His legs and arms have no energy whatsoever.

As he struggled more and more, Mr. Guide appeared out of thin air.

[Stop your Pathetic attempt to move. You are way too injured right now and you were almost at the gates of death. AGAIN. So, just stay put and let your body recover. You are lucky you have over five hundred karma points. If not for them, you would have died last night itself.]

As soon as he heard Mr. Guide's words Viswa finally remembered what happened to him the day before. The battle with some students and the weird behavior of the beasts. He was dragged away by the beasts.

"Are we close to the academy?" He asked with a very hoarse voice. Even he was surprised.

[No. We are far far away. We are at least a dozen kilometers away from that academy. You are lucky that no beast has shown interest in you. Or you would have died a miserable death.

I wonder why though. You looked like a perfect snack with blood smeared all over your body. They should have used you as an appetizer.]

Viswa ignored his taunts and just stayed there as he looked at the thick leaves that are completely covering the sky. He could still see very faint light through the cracks of those leaves, but it is not enough to give him a proper vision.

After calming down a bit, he started calculating in his head. He should have been in this recovery state for a long time if he arrived here last night.

To take this many hours to recover means, he could only imagine the level of injuries he suffered.

He is also surprised how he stayed alive for so long.

He sighed as he waited for a while.

Only after three hours later did he manage to move. His body is still aching, but he managed to slowly sit down and then stand up. His torso particularly the right side is aching the most.

"I hope that curse wouldn't attack me now. If not for that, I might have escaped."

[Don't worry. Today's quota for that curse is already over. That is the reason it took so long for you to recover.]

"…"

Viswa was speechless when heard Mr. Guide's comments. He looked around and picked up a stick to support himself as he slowly walked forward. He couldn't identify which direction he came from and which direction he has to go.

To have any idea of his own location and where he needs to go, he needs to find some sun light.

*GROWL*

And even before that, he needs to find some food and water.

Viswa felt like he was fasting for the past ten days.

He walked forward and soon he heard some commotion of growls.

He immediately hid behind the tree as he looked sneakily.

He saw a fox growling as it feasted on the flesh of a deer.

The fox is huge. Almost as big as a normal deer and the deer almost as big as a horse.

Viswa was stunned. Because he recognized this fox. This belongs to the beasts in the Circle 1 forest. And its power fluctuations are the same. He couldn't understand how this thing survived until now. But he didn't have enough energy to contemplate that answer.

He waited there until the fox left and then slowly scurried over to the corpse of the deer. There is still a decent portion of meat left.

He didn't have any weapons with him, he is barely covered in some rags. He knelt down on the ground and used a small rock he found on the side to bash the corpse and get some flesh out of it.
