Chapter 39 - Battle At The Black Fort: 1

The Northern Empire

The Black Fort

Control Room

"Activate all CVDs on the walls and surrounding areas." Jade ordered.

"Yes, Captain." Her squad members replied. All of them behind their own control centers controlling a number of audio and video devices.

The control room had been completed remodelled.

The rectangular room was arranged such that the chairs and tables all faced the same direction. The direction which the CVDs were all projected to the screen on the wall.

There were three rows of chairs.

Two rows were occupied by the squad 3 technicians. They controlled the different videos appearing on the screen and wee relaying it directly to The Rulers Hall in Millis City for the Rulers to oversee.

The third row was Jade and the three Commanders.

Then suddenly the horn sounded, just once.

"Open the Main gate." Arianne said.

"Yes commander." A soldier said before he pushed a button.

A video showed the large gate as it slowly begin to open. The gate opened completely and then, the Northern Empire's Army marched out.

The Generals Rick, Liam and Knight Zero led the army out of the gates. Three thousand soldiers followed behind.

***

They had prepared. As much as could be prepared.

Emperor Jordan had predicted and calculated every possibility. And their trust in him was unshakable. Now it was time to defend their land. To defend their race. Because they all knew what was really at stake. Not just a little patch of land.

But the whole continent.

The Northern Army marched out of their fort with over 300,000 soldiers, from various squads, to face the invaders. They were not cowards to hide behind their sturdy walls just to avoid conflict. We will meet you on the battlefield with our swords and shield and wands and fists.

About 50,000 cavalry men on their dark horses marched out with the remaining ground forces. They marched out and stopped right in front of the wall.

Ahead of the army were the Generals and Knight.

"Is there a need for speech, Zero?" Rick asked.

Zero turned back to look at the soldiers expressions "I believe not. The look on the soldiers eyes show no hesitation or fear. Once you tell us to attack, we attack."

"Good. But seeing as we are not the ones who started this war, we also shouldn't be the ones to start this battle. So when the world asks, we can tell them we only defended our home."

***

It was his first war.

It was actually his first real battle since a little skirmish he was involved in with the south. But he had complete confidence. He wasn't sure where the confidence came from though.

Theo nudged his horse forward and turned to face his army. "Today is the day!" He shouted. "After hundreds of years, we can finally reclaim what was once ours! Do you like as those Monsters walk all over your ancestors land like it was theirs?! Do you like seeing them multiply on your ancestors land?! We have been given a chance to take what was once ours since the stupid Monsters broke the unwritten rules of the six kingdoms! If we don't take this chance today, we might lose it forever! So let's go take what's ours!" Theo drew his sword and pointed it, screaming with all his might. "Attack!!!"

And so the run began.

The rumbling of the earth was so loud it caused all the birds in the forest behind them to fly out in the opposite direction.

The cavalry took the lead, screaming as the charged. AAARRRRGGGGGG.

***

The Northern Army saw the Margrave army and knew what to do instantly.

Rick shouted. "Attack!!!"

The Northern Army charged with all their might at their approaching enemy. And with every nerve racking second, the two armies grew closer, until...

The Clash was Sudden, Loud and Bloody.

The clashing of horses, people, swords, armours, shields, and fists.

The colour red was all anyone could make out over the shining armours and weapons.

This was WAR.

***

The One million soldiers of the Margrave army that had made camp by the fort were mainly made up of soldiers under Torin direct command of General Torin, who was General of the North.

General Torion's army was divided into three divisions, all headed by its own Division Commander.

Arrie, a powerful mage who graduated from the Academic City of The Five Guilds top of her class. She leads a Division of 50,000 mages.

Hack, the commander of 150,000 Cavalry men.

And, Jovi. A large man, built like a tank leading 300,000 ground forces.

As the Cavalry men charged first, the ground troops quickly followed running behind, as to not get crushed by the horses in the clash.

The Northern Army and Margrave Army were engaged in a heated battle. But anyone could see after the initial clash that the Northern Army were quickly gaining momentum and maintaining their line and formation.

Seeing this, Arrie decided it was time to act. "Long range magic squad! Bombardment magic of any type! Aim for the main mass of the Northern Army! Do not cause any friendly fire! Ready!"

Arrie shouted, as her magicians all began chanting their various types of bombardment magic based on whatever element type or mana type they possessed.

The whole atmosphere around the magicians changed. The massive amount of mana in the battlefield caused the weather around them to change drastically.

"Aiimmmm!! Fire!!!" Arrie shouted.

Bombardment Magic

7th+ Tier magic

The result was the release of massive rain of destructive fire, wind, earth, and water, raining down on the Northern Army.

Then suddenly, someone shouted. "Now!!!"

A massive barrier suddenly emerged in the sky over the soldiers head enveloping them all and shielding them as the many masses of bombarding elements and mana rained down.

Not a single attack was able to penetrate the barrier at all.

Arrie quickly looked to the wall where the source of the voice was.

She saw a number of soldiers who looked like mages lined up on the wall. They were the one who casted the barrier magic.

Somehow, the mages managed to cast the magic in a way that each person's barrier fit into the next person, leaving no gap or weakness.

Only one person in particular stood out on the wall.

It was Head Guard, Hash.

He stood on the wall commanding his Wall defense squad made of mages and soldiers. Guarding the wall and also their soldiers fighting down in the battlefield.

"Not a single arrow will get past us. Not while I'm here!" Hash said.
