Chapter 1 - The Wolf Clan's City

I start with a question. What do you think is the best way to live?

Well??? Anyway, I don't really care what your opinions are. And that's because, most of you probably believe that chasing your dreams and desires is the best way to live. But I believe, the best way to live... is Slothfully.

*

*

It began in a blizzard.

As I staggered out of the mountain that had been my home for twenty-one years, I found myself in a snowy field with scattered trees.

I walked out, pushing through the snow. My legs, knee deep in snow, were cold and wet.

WHOOSH. WHOOSH.

The violent storm carried strong winds that crashed on the mountain and pushed my hood off letting my long dark hair loose. I pushed through the storm and winds and finally got to the edge of a cliff.

On the other side, a small but populous human town that laid on the border city of the Salvador Federation. The largest nation on the continent. An unconscious smile formed on my lips as I stared over the cliff.

This was to be the beginning. The beginning of everything.

*

*

It was a slightly cold day. I was tired and hungry, but all that didn't matter. The only thing on my mind was the eagerness to begin my plan. After walking endlessly through a forest, I finally came out to a city street. But this was no ordinary city.

The street was filled with men, women, and wolves of different colour.

As I entered the street, two guards immediately appeared in front of me pointing their rather sharp-looking spears at my face.

Then one said in a loud voice. "Halt. Who are you and what is your business here?"

The attention of everyone on the street turned to us.

The question felt funny to me in some way, but I took off my hood and answered as politely as I could. "My name is Jordan, and I am here to become the new leader of the Wolf Clan."

"Huh. What nonsense are you talking about?" The first guard shouted at me. He clutched his spear and was about to attack.

"Wait!" The second guard shouted as he stopped him. "Look closer. He has the aura of a wolf."

I smiled with the corner of my mouth and unleashed my aura. My aura appeared in the form of a giant white wolf with deep blue eyes. My aura unleashed a pressure that covered the whole city in seconds.

*

At the same time.

Inside the city's largest building, three men were discussing. A young man and two older men.

They felt a massive pressure that came from a familiar aura and rushed out of the room. They ran at an incredible speed, jumping over the roof of buildings as they headed towards the source of the aura.

*

After I unleashed my Aura...

The whole street stared at me in surprise unsure of what to do. Before any of them had time to react, three men landed in front of me. Before the guards could utter a word, the men knelt down before me and said. "Welcome, Prince Jordan."

I calmed my aura and the pressure that had covered the city subsided.

The crowd that had gathered saw the men kneeling and understood the situation. Everyone in the street, including the guards, knelt down to greet me.

I pulled the young man up. "Ash, it's been a while." I said as I hugged him tightly with a big smile on my face.

The young man's name was Ash. He was the Grey Wolf tasked with being the temporary ruler of the Wolf clan until the second prince of the Wolf clan, which was me, came of age and was ready to rule.

Ash was a twenty-two year old man with long grey hair and red eyes. He was also my best friend.

Since the heads of the Royal families of Monsters were trapped in the Underground Tower a long time ago. The first child, male or female, was made the Crown Prince or Princess making them unable to leave the Tower. This was why the second child was made the ruler of the clan in their stead.

Now I, Jordan, a White Wolf and the second prince of the Wolf clan, am twenty one and have arrived to the surface to rule the Wolf clan in my father's stead.

"Yes it has." Ash replied. "I didn't expect you to come this quickly. I expected you to still be goofing off in the tower."

The men that had followed Ash, the guards and the crowd that had gathered, all stood up watching the prince that had just arrived, and their city's leader, as they greeted each other.

"What? Goofing off! When did I ever goof off?" I said.

"Yeah, yeah."

"Wait a minute, did you grow taller?" I moved close and stood next to Ash comparing our height.

"Well duh, can't expect me to remain the same."

"Noooo!" I dragged Ash and put his head into a neck hold roughing up his hair a little before freeing him.

"I have missed you, best friend" Ash said and smiled.

"Same here man."

Ash moved close to me and sniffed my body. "How long have you been on the road?" He asked

"About a week. Why?" I asked knowing his response would probably be something dumb.

"A week?! No wonder you stink so much." He staggered backwards and covered his nose trying to block out the smell that oozed off of my clothes.

"Dummy. You try walking through two countries in a week."

"Why couldn't you take breaks in those countries you passed through?"

That's when I remembered. I remember why I didn't take any breaks or wasted any time. "Well, I was in a hurry to start my plan."

"Plan? What plan. You've only just arrived and you are already planning something?"

"The world is about to change Ash, and today is the beginning."

"Well, let's get you to your new home first. Then we can't talk about this plan of yours." Ash replied.

"Sure, lead the way."

*

Ash and the two men who followed him escorted me to the largest building in the city. The Wolf clan's city. The took me to the city leader's manor.

I was led to a room with a man and a young woman. The young woman was Aisha. Ash's sister.

Aisha was a beautiful young woman with grey hair and red eyes. She was twenty years.

The three of us had been friends for years before Ash was sent to the surface by the Wolf King to be the temporary ruler. Aisha followed her brother to the surface to assist him.

"Welcome Prince Jordan." Aisha said as we walked in.

"Aisha, I missed you." I ran to her and hugged her as tightly as I could.

"I have missed you too Jordan." She looked the same as when she left the Tower two years ago. "How was your trip?" She asked.

"Long and hard."

"I can tell that from your smell alone."

"Oh." It was one thing for Ash to say I smelled bad. But now that Aisha mentioned it. "Is it that bad?"

"Yeah, it's that bad." Ash said in a tone that sounded more like him mocking than concern.

"Don't listen to him." Aisha said. She was probably trying to make me feel better. "Will you take a shower first?"

I took off my thick, coat that was apparently the cause of most of my stench. "No, I have something to discuss with you all first."

A large table stood in the middle of the room with three chairs on each side and one larger chair in the middle facing them. I sat in the middle chair as Ash and Aisha took the chairs closest to me.

The three men sat down and began introducing themselves.

"My name is Zest, and I am the leader of the Grey Wolves." The first man, who was in the room with Aisha, began. Zest had grey hair and red eyes. His long grey hair tied in a pony tail. He also had a fairly handsome face.

"My name is Isaac." The second man followed. "I am the leader of the Black Wolves." Isaac had black hair and red eyes. He looked older than all of them but had a calm look in his eyes. He was seventy three years.

"My name is Dustin. I am the leader of the Brown Wolves. We are the three leaders of the Wolf clan." The third man said. Dustin was a sixty eight years old man with brown hair and red eyes.

Among the wolves, those with red eyes were known to be either powerful people or people in high positions. All other wolves had yellow eyes. But I was the only exception to that, as I had received a BLESSING upon birth.

*Blessings: They are known to be special gifts bestowed upon certain individuals favoured by the Gods.*

My eyes were blessed by the God of Wisdom, Althea. That is why as the exception, I have deep blue eyes.

"I am sure you all know who I am, but let me repeat for reference sake. My name is Jordan. I am the second prince of the Royal family. I have been sent here to rule the Wolf clan in my father's stead."

I paused, looking around the room a little. "But, as I got ready to leave, I discovered something. So I made a plan counter it. I discovered that the world is changing and we must change with it, or else. We will certainly perish."

Maybe I shouldn't have made it sound so dramatic. I thought as the looks on their face became more serious. "But before I continue, I need you to do something for me Ash." Jordan said.

"What is it?" Ash asked.

"I need you to get your eight fastest riders. I want them to take my letters to the leaders of the remaining seven clans and the leader of Minora. The letters will tell them to come and attend an important meeting in two days time."
