Chapter 23 - Ethereal Life, Chapter 23: Arrival

The Agah Village Caravan set off a few weeks ago. They brought with them flour, jars, slippers made of hay and straws, and the other necessary things from their village.

What really was important in their goods were the logs that were valued in the vast grassland.

"With these logs, we can exchange more of what the other side can offer."

"Exactly. But what if there's nothing more to exchange other than miracle water from the other side?"

"That isn't a problem."

"Hmm? Why do you say so? We had been walking for many weeks already."

"You thought the miracle water wasn't worth your time?"

"I didn't say that."

"Alright, I didn't hear anything."

Sometime later, Accepter Garut, who was riding a mount water buffalo called Argar, who was also on the other ride, "We're almost there; an approximate arrival would be tomorrow noon."

"Is that the only reason you called me?" Argar was expressionless, but his mouth told the others that he showed no respect to Accepter Garut.

You should be thankful I'm old and magnanimous. Accepter Garut thought "Don't court death; she's married."

"..." Argar sneered; he didn't understand what the second sentence meant. He left after seeing the old man say no more.

Accepter Garut shook his head imperceptibly. He learned that word from Nai. "This man doesn't know what's good for him. Try to keep an eye on him."

"Yes." A man in a cape hid his face at the back and answered in murmuring tone. He was someone who was appointed by the village chief to do his bidding.

After ordering that, the old man looked at the far reaches of the grassland. Soon, he would meet with that young man again. "It won't be long."

...

"Browny has come out, huh?" I wonder if it knows me. It seems to be looking at me." Nai sighed in his heart, currently ducking on top of the walls.

Surveying another territory not far away.

"Okay, Browny, it's your territory. We each had ours, so no invading, okay?" It doesn't matter if the Underground Land Dragon heard and understood him or not.

What matters is the heart.

Communication by love.

Kidding.

The underground land dragon called Browny had long since escaped from the jar. At first, it was unclear why it had appeared in an unfamiliar environment.

However, it did not leave after a quick check on its surroundings. Apparently, it liked the shelter very much. It was dark much like the underground, which it was familiar with; it was to its liking.

Right now, it had nothing to do and was looking at a special being not far away while on top of the pyramid.

It was big and seemed to be quick and wary. There's something emitting from the other party's surroundings.

No matter how curious the Underground Land Dragon was, it wasn't an idiot to just let its curiosity lead it to its possible death.

So it can only be observed from afar by the being that was doing some strange movement.

If this underground land dragon could talk, it would surely shout, "What are you doing, bro? Your doing dance, monkey?".

Then there's the music in the air. It was an illusion. Nai shook his head, having delusions.

"Sometime later, I will bring back the glory of music." Usually, he would hear music in his free time back on earth.

Immerse himself in his imagination, using the music in tandem with his mind to create an epic scene.

Pew after sighing sometime. He left the wall and took care of nature's calling somewhere. Even if he somehow becomes extraordinary, he can't escape the mortal body to defecate and eat.

"Sooner or later, I'll build a proper toilet. Also a bathroom where I can dip in hot water." It's been many years, after all. His last hot bath was already a decade ago.

He missed those days when he got to enjoy hot springs nearby his old house. "It's not that I can't build one."

"But the vast grassland doesn't have any hotsprings. Perhaps there is, but I don't have the time to search for one."

"I'll just build a hot bath room for myself. Since I will be having logs and timber soon, I don't need to worry about not having enough material to make one and issues with fuel."

He turned around and arrived in front of his pond. "My treasure, just a while ago, I thought I would lose you for a while. I didn't know that even fate just couldn't bear to part you from myself."

"Ah, a sin. Is this luck? Do transmigrators acquire this luck by traveling to another world?" He shook his head slowly still sprawl to the ground kissing pond.

After taking off his clothes, he dove down underwater, fully naked. Enjoying the comfort and pleasant bath in the pond.

In the future, this pond will become a lake. "A lake in the future? Not too bad for a small goal for you, Pond."

Nai stopped at the bottom of the pond, looking at the beautiful sight one can only see underwater.

This picturesque scene, he thought to himself. I still haven't changed.

He knows himself very well. Viridescent Nai is a lazy person. If I do feel motivated, it will only last for a few days. After that, I will return to my days of seeing the world gloomily.

With no goal in life, no dream, just thinking constantly on how to find ways to survive with minimal effort. For many years that I lived, my personality was ever-changing.

I haven't truly found out what personality I should be using permanently right now. Yes, I'm a hypocrite. Two faces, three? That's too low, isn't it?

Taking a deep breath of the wind after surfacing Nai exhaled, relaxing. "I'll let it be. Since I don't have a fixed personality. That means, it can only mean that this is the real me."

"My ever-changing personality is my personality. One moment brave like a hero, two moments getting tired and acting like a coward. There's nothing wrong, and I can just find my way to survival."

"Law of nature." Nai returned to land and dried himself before changing into a long cape. that looked like a raincoat from afar.

A day later. Nai, who was monitoring the vast grassland early in the morning, saw dots like silhouettes very far away. "Is that them? "It took them too long."

Nai thought; he looked at the side and was somewhat content with his work.

"An incomplete wall for a new outer wall of my territory. This should be enough for them to rest and exchange for goods."

"Hey Browny, don't bite them, okay?" It doesn't matter if you understand me or not. What matters is your existence.

He gave a hopeful glance at Browny, who was munching on a piece of meat he had thrown on it.

It seems to like it. Browny looked at Nai for a while before resuming its meal.

A while later, after some light exercise. He took out his spear and shield, both made of wood.

The shield is a bulwark, heavy for others but not for him. "Strength is what matters. Many things I could only dream of in the past are now happening to me."

Nai thought in his heart before doing some shield and spear play.

"Noob" is the right term to describe how he was moving. There's no charm or rhythm to his every stroke at all.

Sitting, he looked at the people not far away. The sun stood high, overlooking the ants on earth.

Somehow, he felt nervous on the inside. "Social anxiety is still there; it has not disappeared." Nai sighs in his heart.

The mind wants calm, but the body is reckless. "I should lay low and talk less this time." He was afraid his foul mouth would blurt out something he would regret later on.

"Ah huh. And back then I told myself to escape. I failed my own promise."

An hour later, Accepter Garut stopped the caravan a hundred meters away. He slid down his mount and waved his hand at Nai, not far away.

The meaning is clear: he wants to have a peaceful exchange. Nai was quiet; his calm face showed not an iota of expression.

The underground land dragon not far away seems to have noticed the guest from afar as it spied on them.

No movement after that; Nai breathed in relief as well as some disappointment.

Scare them Browny! Ah! You failed as a security guard.

The caravan this time is more extravagant.

There are a total of fifteen people, all men. The number of water buffaloes increased to accommodate the number of carts housing piles of logs and timber.

Weapons such as spears and axes naturally would've disappeared. All of them seem to show curiosity with some hidden intention.

"It's time." He waved his hand as he pointed at the unfinished outer walls not far away. His meaning is clear: that will be the place they will meet.

Accepter Garut sighs in his heart, "It looks like the young man has grown wary in the heart."

Although he said that, his face remained calm, as he already expected that to happen.

At the same time, his eyes flickered, seeing something in another direction.
