Chapter 21 - Ethereal Life, Chapter 21: From a Fantasy Guest

The sun gently peeked from the cover of clouds up in the sky as it surveyed the life of greenery below it.

Wiping the sweat dripping on his somewhat tired and dirty face, Nai felt faintly happy in his heart.

"The joy of the hardworking. The feeling of satisfaction and contentment swelling in my heart—only in this kind of situation can I truly feel happy from my hard work."

The time flew by as the sun in the sky looked at the idiotic ant below it playing with mud all day long. "Hey brother, don't you have any other things to do?"

"That's what the sun would surely say if it had a brain and a mouth. Hahahha." Nai laughed at his leisure. There's nothing that can take his happiness away from him at the moment.

After drying the bricks under the sun, he took a quick bath in the pond before drying himself with wool clothing. After a quick change into a wool cape, Nai took his meal, which wasn't the same as before.

"Long time no see bread. What, have we already met before? Don't tell me, this is the bread I've eaten yesterday!" A reincarnated loaf of bread still can't escape from his mouth until it is punished by the acid of his stomach.

Nai enjoyed his meal heartily. It wasn't until he finished eating and had his last cup of water that he felt full and refresh. "Time to relax."

He no longer cares about his thoughts from the past. "Fighting? Bah, how I care." As for leaving this place behind if he were ever targeted, "So be it. I can always take revenge.".

As for his miracle water, he said, "Although unfortunately, I still have a long life. I can always find ways to take it back.".

My previous thought of going against the natives of this place head-on was a stupid thought. "I will surely die if it goes out with them."

"It's even better if we can communicate as equals. But would they even do that?" He thought, seeing that a watch tower nearby is a good place to relax under its shade,

Nai decided to do just that. "They exchanged with me because we don't know each other. Plus, they needed something from me in a hurry. However, the next time we meet, it might be a tragedy."

It wasn't a bad choice to surrender, either. But would he? "As an outsider, I will surely be outcast and used. As if I would do that." Nai thought in his heart, climbing the wall before reaching the watchtower and sitting under it.

"Just the right shade for me to relax." He leaned his back on the wall and started drifting off to sleep. His half-opened eyes looked dazedly at the beautiful, verdant horizon.

"I hope we won't reach that point." After just a moment of muttering this, he fell asleep immediately.

The fresh breeze and the warm atmosphere Who won't fall asleep in such a relaxing environment?

Even in the dangerous situation he was in, nothing could beat him to it if he wanted to sleep. After all, not sleeping in his free time or in the afternoon in the past is one of his regrets.

It's the reason he was shorter among his peers! He wants to grow tall too. And this life would make his dream come true.

...

In a dim underground tunnel that looked like it had been carved by an ant colony. A small fantasy creature's head suddenly poked out from the side tunnel.

Anyone who saw the creature's face would surely be shocked and fearful. It had eyes that were all white and a facial shape that looked scaled, sharp, and deadly.

It has sharp shark-like white teeth and white goatee-like hair on its jaw. On its back were wing-like fins. It looked like a dragon from myth if Nai were to make a decision for it.

At the moment, it slithered out from the side, showing its scaled, long-like body from Shenlong of the Dragon Ball. Unfortunately for this one, it has neither feet nor hands.

It looked like a serpent living underground. The fine details on its body and scales just show how much of a fantasy it was that had appeared in reality.

It slithered its way not far from where a light was coming out from the crack ceiling of the tunnel. It seems to feel the warm temperature coming from above, which is too different from the place it has been living.

It slithered around like a curious child discovering a new toy it hadn't seen before. The problem is, can it see it?

With those eyes? It's more like what it can see is the temperature, not the normal sight a human has.

The creature waited and experimented for a while. When it got the response that nothing harmful had happened to it after touching the light and playing with it.

It seems to have come to a decision. It slowly slithered its way up the walls, then entered through the gap.

The gap was just big enough for it to climb up. Slowly, it steadily rose up as it neared the exit.

It was cautious if something suddenly appeared to startle it. It won't mind biting anyone or anything that would moved.

A few minutes later, its curiosity peaked when the warm temperature around it started soaring. Because it was its first contact with sunlight, it felt uncomfortable.

It needs time to adapt to its new environment. However, its adaptability seems to have gotten a boost from its curiosity. It didn't stop in its tracks.

Instead, it continued to climb up until it finally reached the exit or entrance in its mind.

...

A head poked out from a crack in the ground. It was a dark grey color with black scales and skin. It has some sharp corners around its deadly and majestic face.

The creature started looking around, but it seemed too blind in this place. All it saw were colors that meant different levels of heat. It was different from what I was expecting.

Although its vision changes from darkness to brightness. It only took a few minutes for the creature to slowly adapt and slither out of his hole.

There, it moved forward in a certain direction. It can somehow detect with its senses something familiar not far away. That place seems to be surrounded by tall walls.

It tried to slither on its surface, but it failed because of the wall's smoothness. However, how could a creature that was born and has been living underground its whole life be stumped by these obstacles?

The creature's mouth opened wide, and rows of sharp teeth lined up for it to bite on one of the walls. A while later, the wall became uneven, as though a colony of ants had just passed by to make roads.

The creature has already climbed up the wall and reached the top. In front of it was a watch tower. However, his sight wasn't on the special heat he was seeing on top but on a not-far-away place.

It was way past the walls, at the center of this place. Even with a thermal scanner like the eyes. The creature can still detect a strange green light emitting from it, albeit faintly.

There should be some kind of blockade that makes it impossible for him to see far away. Without thinking much, the creature directly jumped down from the walls and entered the place surrounded by them.

The light around it isn't that of yellow, orange, or red much anymore. Instead, there is more vibrant green in the air as thought clouds and mist.

Where the most abundant of them were located in the direction he was going. The creature's mind seems to wonder why it feels familiar. It was as though it had seen or felt it a long time ago.

A while later. It came across another wall. When it tried to find some hole around it, he failed to find anything. Then it came to pass the same decision it did back then.

It bit on the walls as though it were munching on cookies. With every bite, it would use the rough texture of the path it had made to climb.

A while later, it finally climbed up on top of the wall. However, it did not stop. As what was in front of it was too much for its instinct to bear.

All green, light green, and dark green The only colors that painted his vision were all related to the vibrant green fog-like thing below it.

It was as though there was a fountain that was constantly oozing out or erupting with thick green clouds that were very attractive to it.

The allure can't make it think straight. In the end, it jumped from the wall and splashed. Submerged itself underwater, where its vision was fully consumed by greenery.

It seems to let out some sounds of comfort from its deadly bubbling mouth.

...

"Must be my imagination?" Nai was woken up from his sleep with a start. His calmed breathing blow out from his nostril, seeing the blue skies ahead.

He actually dreamed of seeing a fantasy creature climbing past his walls to his pond. "Hmm."
