Chapter 7:
The Disappearances
As days went by, Alex and Katie started to notice that some of the children were disappearing from the orphanage. At first, they thought that maybe they had been adopted, but as more and more kids vanished, they realized that something wasn't right.
Alex tried to ask the caretakers about the missing children, but they only brushed him off, telling him to mind his own business. Katie, on the other hand, refused to sit by and do nothing. She organized a secret meeting with the other kids to discuss what was happening and how they could help to find their missing friends.
As they talked, they began to piece together a disturbing picture. The missing children were always the ones who didn't follow the rules or who spoke out against the caretakers. It seemed as though they were being punished for their behavior, but none of the kids knew what had happened to them.
Katie, determined to get to the bottom of things, decided that they needed to take matters into their own hands. She and Alex started to sneak around the orphanage at night, looking for clues. It was dangerous, but Katie was convinced that it was the only way to uncover the truth.
As they dug deeper, Alex and Katie realized that the orphanage was involved in something sinister, something far worse than they could have ever imagined. And now they were in too deep, with no way to turn back.
