Chapter Five- Mufasa

"Yo, did you kill that?"

At some point, a blue construct had come out of the barrier and was standing behind Thorne. When Thorne turned to this stranger, he was surprised to find that the construct was ... well...an animal.

A bird actually, falcon-like to be specific. The name above its head read Mufasa.

"You, why aren't you..."

"Humanoid?" Mufasa completed Thorne's question. Flying to the carcass of the winged, he hovered around it, scrutinizing its wounds.

"Well, all of us blue constructs aren't humanoid..."

Mufasa flew to Thorne and circled him curiously

"... a couple of red constructs too."

He landed on Thorne's shoulder giving Thorne the chance to observe him up close. He estimated that Mufasa's size was half the size of the winged ant.

"Most of them don't have starshards too for some reason. I am like the only one who does", he puffed his chest up proudly. This fellow also had a silver orb revolving a somewhat dim star.

"They just have the stellar cores."

Thorne chuckled at the fellow's posture. The existence of non- humanoid constructs surprised him, refreshing his knowledge of the game.

'It could be the game's way of distinguishing constructs', he thought.

"Hey Seven, are you interested in teaming up?" Asked Mufasa out of nowhere.

He figured Thorne had a really helpful starshard to be able to defeat a creature so early in the game so it wouldn't be a bad idea to team up with him.

Taking off from Thorne's shoulder, Mufasa flew in circles around his head in an annoying manner.

"My starshard doubles my speed for as long as I have energy to keep it going. I could quickly fly over there and taunt a bee over then you kill it.

Perfect corporation."

This was an invitation Thorne couldn't refuse because he agreed with the idea. Mufasa's starshard even made it better.

If he went there himself, he would probably attract an entire swarm of bees.

Mufasa's size and speed made him the best man for the job. However, he was confused about something.

"Mufasa, how high is you energy output?"

"Oh that. It's ten. Yours should be higher right? I overheard people say that you gold ones are the bosses here"

Mufasa glanced at his flickering core. Then he looked at him.

"Is that normal", he asked, puzzled.

"I don't know.", Thorne answered

" Haven't seen any gold construct with something similar though."

None of the gold constructs he had seen had fluctuating cores.

He put the matter aside.

"Alright, let's team up"

"Yaaay, let the hunt begin."

Mufasa zoomed out instantly, leaving Thorne speechless.

He was going already. Was this fellow crazy? They hadn't come up with a plan yet. Thorne hadn't even told him what his starshard did and yet he flew out so confidently.

Mufasa approached a bee that had settled on a glowing mushroom cap and without hesitation slammed into it. His recklessness stunned Thorne. This guy was just too bold!!

Buzz!!!

A furious buzz resounded in the air, attracting two other swarm members also on mushroom caps. They joined the furious bee in chasing after Mufasa who was flying back to Thorne. It was obvious his speed had doubled, indicating that he was using his starshard.

Buzz!! Buzz!! Buzzzz!!!

Unfortunately, the bees were right at his heels.

On the other end, Thorne put himself together. Fighting three bees was going to pose a challenge but what could he do.

He sighed helplessly. Mufasa had really outdone himself.

Readying himself, he constructed a sword.

Learning from his previous battle, he fed more energy to the starshard. He figured doing that would increase the attack potency of the sword just like it had improved the defense of the shield.

Weng!

However, he soon reached a limit. The starshard closed up, refusing to take in anymore.

"Why?"

Whoosh!

That was a question for another day.

Mufasa, that unlucky fellow, just sped past him after gaining some distance from the bees.

"Get them brother Seven. I'll be very, very far away recovering". He sped on without looking back

Thorne faintly felt an urge to beat him up.

Buzz!

The first bee soon arrived. This thing was huge.

Seeing that Thorne stood it its way, shielding the miscreant that had attacked it, the bee attacked him instead.

It darted forward, stinger aimed directly at Thorne's chest. With lightening quick reflexes, he sidestepped the attack and swung his sword in a wide arc. The blade glowed faintly as it sliced through the air and connected with the bee's body.

Success!

The creature let out a high pitched shriek as it fell to the ground. It's wings still twitching as it died.

[You have slain a rank 1 xenogenetic red bee]

It was that easy.

The other two bees caught up and swarmed around Thorne, stingers aimed at him from all angles. He successfully parried the stinger of the first bee but was sadly unable to block the one behind him.

Hisss!

Intense pain flooded his senses as he felt something pierce him from the back.

[Structural integrity had fallen to 9]

Gritting his teeth, he turned and slashed furiously.

Screech!

[You have slain a rank 1 xenogenetic red bee]

One more to go.

Thorne knew he couldn't afford to be careless. The attack power of these creatures was ridiculously high. One strike had nearly killed him.

He tried constructing a shield alongside the sword but the starshard was unresponsive.

"This is surely its limit", he thought.

Gripping the hilt of the sword tightly, he readied himself for the bee's attack.

Whoosh!

At that critical moment,a blue blur zoomed right past the bee, momentarily distracting it.

Thorne took advantage of this tiny window of opportunity and slashed out.

[You have slain a rank 1 xenogenteic red bee]

He dispersed the sword and sunk to the ground.

[You have obtained the accumulated radiants of a rank 1 xenogeneic red bee]

[You have obtained the accumulated radiants of a rank 1 xenogeneic red bee]

[You have obtained a portion of accumulated radiants of a rank 1 xenogenetic red bee]

Black mists rose from the bodies of the bees and merged into Thorne's construct.

[State of Solidity had increased by 5 ]

[Structural Integrity has recovered and further increased by 50]

A portion of the mist merged into Mufasa's construct. It was for his contribution.

Mufasa landed close to Thorne

"Your starshard is amazing man", he praised.

He flapped and landed on Thorne's shoulder.

"Hey, you alright?" he asked in somewhat strange tone.

"Yeah. The radiants restore structural integrity so no pain and no fatigue" Thorne answered.

"Perfect, let's do that again!" Mufasa yelled, speeding towards another swarm of red bees

"Wait you crazy bast@#&"

[You have slain a rank 1 xenogenetic red bee]

[You have slain a....]

[You have slain a....]

[You have slain a....]

....

This went on continuously until...

Ding!

[Game time limit reached]

[Logging Players out]

"Catch you later, Seven"
