Within the library of the kingdom of Fiona, a place that holds knowledge going back to ancient times such as the history of the Fiona kingdom and the appearance of the true source.
According to legends, the true source is also known as The Essence of Mana is said to be source of all mana in the world. Some believed that Mana simply manifests in many ways, and that it does not have one concept, being that Mana is universal. But that was just a speculation and was never confirmed to be true.
In the past, Magic was feared and oppressed, that Inquisitors hunted, persecuted and killed any Mage they could found. But after the formation of the magic knights and mage guilds, magic gradually became an everyday phenomenon. I'll
Currently, a young man with spiky black hair, grey eyes and a white scarf with scale-like patterns around his neck could be seen reading a book named Legends of Dragons.
After the attack in the city, Kai and Lyon met up with the others. They chatted about they faced the undead armies with the other adventurers and magic knight, and how they got teleported away.
Kelvin was grinning from ear to ear, yapping about how he faced defeated one of the enemies on his own.
They engaged in idle chatter before agreeing on taking a break, it seems the invasion exhausted them and they needed time to recover.
Kai decided to do what was planning to do since he got back but never had the chance to since he was busy.
He wanted to know more about the dragon race but it took him an hour before he could find this book. He had to go from one book section to another until he luckily found the book he was looking for.
Apparently, this is the only book that holds the records about the dragon race in the whole library and Kai found this to be strange.
HISTORY TIME!!
According to legends, the dragon race were described to be the pinnacle of all living things because of their power and knowledge.
More than 500 years, Dragons were the rulers of the land and humans were considered to be merely a food source for them.
In the Eastern continent, specifically Ishgar, Dragons lived in harmony with humans, while in the west, the dragons were hostile and preyed upon them. As the makings of an intense war were beginning to form, the queen who at that ruled the west, came up with the idea for the Dragons to bestow to the humans to aid them in the war.
Thus, these humans who were gifted the magic of the dragons became known as the "Dragon Slayers." A name that was feared throughout the Earth Land.
These individuals had their magic origin (Mana core) transformed to that of dragons, allowing them to use their magic.
In order words, the dragon slayers were humans who had the power to wield the power of dragons, it's no wonder that these wizards are as feared as they are.
Later, a Dragon proposed a truce between them, believing both species could live in harmony. This soon led to a civil war known as the Dragon King Festival between both factions: the pro-humans and their opposite.
Eventually, some humans were gifted with the powers of the dragons and were requested to join the war. Before long, the tide of the war shifted into the favor of the pro-coexistence faction.
However, both sides overlooked a potential threat: the dragon slayers unknowingly carried a great risk proportionate to their incredibly power.
The dragon slayers who started using their newly gained power would start killing the Dragons, friends and foe alike, and bathed in their blood, and turned into a Dragon themselves: thus, creating the being known as the Black Dragon, Fafnir.
Reaching this part, a frown appeared on Kai's face as he felt his blood boiling with anger. After all, it was the same dragon that was responsible for the death of Igneal. Calming his emotions, he continued reading.
Fafnir was reputed to be an extremely powerful dragon slayer who annihilated thousands of dragons in his wake and bathed in their blood, turning into a dragon himself. But his power corrupted him, leading him to kill both friends and foes alike. And even entire countries turned to dust Infront of his power.
But 5 years after the events of the Dragon King Festival, all dragons strangely disappeared including the black dragon Fafnir and they were never sighted ever again. Some speculated that they went extinct and some speculated that they were hiding. Even so, the mystery of what happened to the dragon race was never uncovered.
After Kai finished reading the book, some things didn't make sense to them. Igneal fight against Fafnir was not recorded in the book plus Igneal said that some dragons were still. alive.
Which him to think what they were ok planning. There were only two possibilities he could think of. First, was that they were regrouping their numbers so that they could continue the war but that was unlikely, Igneal never warned him about that so he dismissed that thought.
The second one was that they were recovering their strength so that they could face the black dragon, that opinion was very likely.
But there was another thought that bugged him. The book said that if a dragon slayer overuses their magic, they turn into dragons and go berserk. Isn't that what happened to him in the forest of Hulda?
But he never even used the magic and he didn't turn into a dragon. When dragon slayers receives the magic of dragons, their magic origin changed to that of dragons, allowing them to wield that magic.
Dragons slayers were humans who were able to use the power of dragons. However, Kai was different. The magic of dragons never changed the body of dragon slayers, only their magic origin (mana core). But not only did Kai's core changed, his body also changed to that of dragons. What happened in the forest of Hulda proofs this fact.
In other words, Kai was something known as an "Half Dragon", bring both dragon and human at the same time.
Coming to this conclusion, Kai was dumbfounded by this.
"Did he do this to stop the dragonization process?" Kai questioned. Igneal must have done this to stop the dragonization process. But Kai could not ask Igneal since he was dead. Even so, Kai thought that this was the answer.
Satisfied with his discovery, he left the library and headed to his apartment.
