Alan was the first to resume the silence. "I'm so sorry about what happened to your family."
He started an apology, and Sam followed suit. But before the others could get involved, Elena quickly put an end to it.
It was not their fault, and the last thing she wanted was for them to pity her.
Talking about her family might be a sore spot, but she had been fine when the three musketeer bitches poked fun at her.
"It's fine." Elena raised the glass of her wine to her lips and took a few sips.
"Only if you had good friends back then, everything wouldn't have crumbled down to this level," Sam mumbled with a slight frown on his face.
He only thought it was a shame for Elena to not have had any good friends to help her or her family during that crisis.
