Mark swallowed the buttery pastry in his mouth and finished up the remaining drink in his cup before dabbing the corner of his lips with a napkin without breaking eye contact with her.
A few seconds passed with no other words exchanged before Mark finally broke the silence. "What could that be?" he inquired with a hint of curiosity in his tone while taking in the serious expression on her face.
Elena observed him for a moment before averting her gaze back to her plate. The shell-shaped pastry looked more inviting to look upon than him.
"I'm so sorry I can't tell you about it now. I need some time to think and decide."
Mark never saw this coming. As a matter of fact, he looked like a child whose piece of candy had just been snatched from his hands.
"How much time do you need?" he asked after he recovered.
