Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : The Beginning

He wasn't sure if Garry was free or not, so he postponed calling him for the time being. As he opened the daily quest tab, he realized that he had not completed the daily quests for a few days and that the tasks seemed harder than before. They were extremely harder.

"Are you hecking kidding me? 100km? 200 journals? 1000 squats? Ain't no way I can complete every quest within 24 hours.. Sigh.." thought Aaron, looking a bit down as he realized that it would be harder to earn tokens from now on.

Not to mention, he would have to spend a lot of time just to complete a single quest, and the thought of doing that every day broke his courage and motivation for a while.

"Should I just quit being a teacher? I mean, I have no reason to stay since Garry will fully support my decision.. I guess I need to discuss this with him first.." muttered Aaron as he stretched his body to do the 1000 squats task.

Although he found it humanly impossible. He had to do it since it was also a good way to test his newly enhanced physique.

One.. Two.. Three..

20 minutes later, he had completed the first quest.

"Huh? I thought it would be more challenging and time-consuming.. At least the soreness wasn't as bad as before since it heals much faster now.." said Aaron as he rested on the chair next to the table to drink some healing water he made before.

To his surprise, Garry texted him while he was exercising saying that he would be here in less than an hour, so he decided to wait and start organizing the items he got from the draw days ago.

Firstly, he really wanted to claim all the items without spending the only 2 tokens he had left. But then he realized he had never had a ring since he was never a fan of accessories and jewelry. He quickly texted Garry since he could be close by already.

"I need 2 rings and something like a credit card," he sent the message to Garry.

While biding time for Garry's arrival, he perused the school chat group to ensure he wasn't out of the loop on anything. Although the prospect of continuing as a teacher seemed improbable, he kept at it as a matter of habit, lest he miss anything crucial.

"Thump thump thump"

The footsteps outside sounded like they were made by at least two adults, so Aaron knew it had to be Garry and someone else, whom he thought might be Luo. He looked at himself in the mirror, making sure he was at least properly cleaned and approachable.

"I have been in a coma for 3 days.. But surprisingly, I feel so clean, even cleaner than usual.. Hmm.. Please don't tell me Luo cleaned me while I was unconscious.. Nooo..F f f f.. " thought Aaron as he looked pale, thinking about it. But then he stopped because he knew he should ignore it. Ignorance is bliss!

Later, Garry arrived with someone else who looked much older than him. He was tall and muscular with tanned and fierce look. His outfit was tight-fitting, resembling that of a high-ranking military person, which made Aaron a little nervous and stiff.

"Good evening, Aaron. How are you doing? I was so glad when Luo told me you had woken up earlier today while updating me about your condition. Here the things you requested. Is it related to your Artifact Master power?" greeted Garry with kindness and a friendly gesture. He looked genuinely honest, which made Aaron feel less nervous and awkward.

Aaron took the items that Garry had brought and arranged them nicely on the table. He then looked at Garry, his head slightly pointing downwards, and said, "I am sorry. I should not have been so distrustful and clumsy. Thank you for helping me."

Aaron had never done something like this before - apologize. He had no friends to begin with, ever since he graduated, and his circle had been getting smaller year by year. By the time he reached 30, he could barely remember the last time he had had a drink with someone he called a friend.

"I feel like sharing everything right now. Are you free?" said Aaron confidently.

Garry then told the person behind him to go outside. He nodded as a sign he was ready.

Aaron immediately claimed all the items by transmuting the items Garry had previously brought, all of which were on the table.

The light flashed out from the items for a moment, which shocked Garry. Even when the light had been gone for quite some time, he was still stunned from what he had seen. He looked at Aaron for a while, then said, "That was quite a power to have... Thank you for sharing this with me."

"I have more to share, just be seated here," replied Aaron as he brought a chair for Garry.

Later, Aaron told everything about the system from the moment he got it at the park until the present time. It took him almost half an hour until Garry sighed.

"That was a lot for you to carry alone. Like I said before, thank you for sharing this with me. About your idea of quitting teaching, it is quite a good idea, so just do it. I might share some of your secret with my butlers, but don't worry about them. Ah, the one outside was my first butler, you will get to know him eventually in the future..." said Garry, who stood then grabbed Aaron's shoulder. Then he continued talking.

"This place is quite advanced, more than you could possibly imagine, so completing the daily quest here won't be a problem. When you are free, try to use the training facility here. Luo manages this place, so I will task him to guide you here from now on," said Garry as he was leaving the room. He gave what seemed like the master key for the facility to Aaron.

When Garry left, Aaron quickly played around with the new magical item he had obtained. He studied the ring first, especially the Space ring, to see how it worked.

He thought it was going to be tricky or complicated, but later he found out that the ring operated just by saying the items he wanted to keep or withdraw from the ring. The description explained that the space inside was the size of a 3m cube.

"That was handy, at least I could bring other non-magical items outside. I want to use the teleportation ring, but this room is not big enough to see how the teleportation works… Maybe I should explore this facility right now," muttered Aaron as he slowly walked towards the room door.

When he opened the door with the key card Garry gave before, he was astounded by what he saw. The room he was before actually underground, the whole facility was actually underground as he could see huge pillar looking building that looked like lifts located to go up.

Outside the room was a huge garden surrounding the lift building. The entire facility was circular in shape, like a huge tower but underground.

Aaron counted that there were nine floors, and on each floor, there were five to seven rooms when he explored the facility without entering any room. The exploration took him almost an hour before he started moving to the canteen area located on the lowest floor where his room was situated.

He had not met anyone from his walk yet, but when he entered the canteen, he realized that the place was probably run by robots or automatic machines, since there were only a few tables and chairs to eat at. He picked a random seat to sit on, and then the surface of the table turned into a menu where he could order food. It was quite easy to operate, and he learned how to use it properly.

He ordered a lot of steak and ate it immediately when a robot put the food on the table. He even ordered kebabs to take away and kept them inside his space ring.

"Hmm, I should keep more food inside this ring for the time being. I'm not sure who cooked the food, but it was delicious beyond reason," muttered Aaron as he explored the menu to order more takeaway.
