Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 : Training Facility

When Aaron returned to his room, Luo waited for him to handed him a sturdy but light tablet with an air of authority. It was as though the device held the keys to the entire facility, and Aaron couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as he held it in his hands. Luo didn't say much as he rushed to left him alone to study the tablet.

"Well, at least I can plan what to do here for the next few days…" thought Aaron as he scrolled through the information provided by the tablet.

Two hours passed quickly, and as Aaron finished his last kebab, he felt a sense of amazement at what he had learned. The tablet had revealed that this place was no ordinary facility. It was a training ground for super soldiers built by Garry's company, costing millions to construct and known only to a select few.

Those who trained here would go on to work as mercenaries or bodyguards under Garry Chen Security Company (GCSC). Aaron had not read much about Garry himself, as he had been too absorbed in learning about the advanced facilities provided at the training center.

"Since I have 100km of running to do, maybe I should try to complete it tonight at the running facility on the first floor. From the map I studied before, there is a standard 400m running track there," thought Aaron as he quickly left his room to find something appropriate to wear from the armory just above him.

When he opened the door to the armory, Aaron was immediately overwhelmed. Countless weapons, armors, and highly advanced military equipment filled the room, and he had no idea how to use any of it. He settled on a dark blue uniform, as it looked comfortable and common.

"Woah...nice. I look like a proper soldier...Sigh...if only my parents had approved my decision to join the military a decade ago," thought Aaron as he caught his reflection on his way to the running track. He remembered how excited he was when he passed the military test, but his parents didn't approve, citing the danger of the occupation. He had ultimately accepted their decision out of filial piety.

The track was empty, and there were some highly advanced training equipment present, but Aaron had no time to study them as he began his 100km run.

"Here goes nothing...100km is just absurd..." thought Aaron as he stepped onto the running track.

...

He started slow for the first few laps, and his speed gradually increased until half an hour later when he realized he had adapted to his new physique. It took him four hours to complete the quest, and he knew he had more in him, but he was glad to have finished earlier than expected.

"Haa haa...I feel like running more, but I should go to the room where they put my stuff they took from my place," muttered Aaron as he was sweating and making his way to the storage room for his belongings.

Upon entering the storage room, Aaron was taken aback by the sight before him. Nearly all of his possessions from his home had been moved here, including his small and cheap black sedan. Everything was neatly arranged and some were even covered for protection during the moving process.

With the tablet given by Luo, he learned that he could order the helper robot to assist him in moving them into a personal living room on the second floor.

The room he was currently living in was a treatment room previously when the facility was still running. Aaron just realized that the facility wouldn't be running as long as he was living here.

"Is it really okay what I am doing?" thought Aaron as he felt a bit of guiltiness.

Using the tablet, Aaron commanded the helper robot to transfer everything he owned from the storage room, except for the car of course, to the personal room he had surveyed before.

The room resembled a typical 5-star suite, with the highlight being the huge bathroom that housed an expensive-looking Jacuzzi and every luxury amenity one could imagine.

However, Aaron didn't really want to live in such opulence. It was simply the only available room for him! He couldn't access the other personal rooms even with the master key and tablet given to him.

It was pushing 10PM, and Aaron had just the robots moved all his belongings into his new room, including his gaming computer. Sadly, he hadn't been able to complete the last daily quest since he didn't have enough time to meditate for the required 8 hours. But that was okay as he could plan better from now on when the daily quests refreshed.

After a few rounds of MOBA online, Aaron got bored and stopped. He was crushing his opponents easily, feeling like a true superhuman. It was as if he was smurfing against the other players, so he shut down his computer and lay down in the luxurious master bedroom. As he looked at the painting of a lone star in the night sky next to his bed, time seemed to fly by, and an hour passed in what felt like minutes.

Suddenly, something changed in Aaron's expression as he snapped out of his trance, motivated to do something. He bolted to the tablet provided by the facility, eager to explore the various training routines and regimens available for a trained mercenary and bodyguard like himself.

The tablet was amazing. It could mix and match the routines for him and calculate everything for the perfect workout plan using the highly advanced technologies here. Aaron scrolled through the options for a few minutes, feeling more and more excited with each passing second.

"Hmm, maybe less time in physical training would be fine, but I need extra hours for combat practice and weapons training.." he mused.

"This is the perfect practice for a superhuman like me. Packed but simple. Everything can be done in less than 8 hours, or even faster. Gaming sucks anyway for the time being.."

A bitter feeling welled up inside Aaron as he thought about his unsatisfying gaming night. "Maybe I just need a better game, or a better gaming console. Sigh..." he muttered, slowly closing his eyes to sleep.

He planned to wake up early tomorrow for his training, treating it like his current job a top priority. Perhaps he would discover new things about his superhuman abilities and push his limits even further.

Later in the morning, Aaron started completing the recommended routines. Sometimes, Luo would be there to ensure his safety, as Garry had instructed. Most of the training was done in the simulation room, as it would help him learn much faster, especially with his super brain.

He tried the physical exercises recommended by the tablet, but they were too easy for him. He told the AI to increase the difficulty level tomorrow, especially for anything related to physical activities.

It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon when Aaron finished nourishing himself with the healthy food provided by the facility after completing all the routines. He checked his phone to see how many quests he could do that day.

"Sigh.. Another 8 hours of meditation? Why does the system want me to meditate for so long.. At least I can do the rest of the quests in the evening," thought Aaron as he walked to the running track to complete the quest there. He wondered if he could practice with the teleportation ring there, but he would wait until after completing the quest.

Later that night, inside a conference room in Garry's mansion, Luo presented the latest data on Aaron's superhuman abilities to Garry and the head butler. The previous data, recorded while Aaron was in a coma, was inaccurate compared to the current information. Impressed with the new data, Garry took a moment to brief the others on Aaron, referring to him only as the 'Artifact Master' and not mentioning the system.

"I know he is a bit lazy or unenthusiastic, but he still needs our help, Luo." Garry said with a serious expression.

"It's not easy being in his position. We'll take care of finding more information on artifacts. Once we're done gathering information, I'll be the one to pour them to him. Let's just focus on our job for now." Garry then left the room with the first butler, while Luo pondered for a moment before returning to programming the AI for the training facility.

Despite Aaron's feedback about the physical exercises, Luo was determined to make things harder for him the next day.

"Too easy?! Well not anymore, brat. Tomorrow will be hell for you.. Just wait.." Luo thought to himself as he worked late into the night.
