Lyn was in her chamber with her maidens, she was quiet than usual, and she appears to be in deep thought, being the mention of her father and meeting consort Suva. "My queen is everything okay? If anything is bothering you can tell me," Pana said with a cheerful smile. Lyn turns to look at her with a forced smile. She did have something on her mind.
"Nothing Pana, I'm just tired you can leave now," Lyn said going back to staring in the air. "But my queen," Pana mumbled. "You heard her, she wants to be left alone," Moesha snapped showing her the way. For some reason, she can't stand her.
"I can only be five inches away from the queen, as her personal maid I'm not to leave her alone," Pana says rolling her eyes at Moesha who doesn't seems to care about the rules in the palace just like her lady.
"Really…" Moesha grumbled when Lyn interrupted her. "Can you two please leave me alone," Lyn said with finality not sparing them a glance. "Yes, your majesty," Pana said as she bows and walks away. She frowns when Lyn told Moesha to stay behind.
"Moesha, you stay," Lyn ordered. Once everyone was out of the room. She walks up to Lyn and whispers. "There is something about that girl I don't like," Moesha complains while Lyn gives her a sharp glance.
"I'm serious my lady, I have seen her whispering to someone in the dark more than twice. She is always secretive as if she is hiding something. What if she is working for someone to hurt you," Moesha mumbled aside not liking her she couldn't ignore her suspicions.
"Moesha, come on, the king personally choose her as my handmaiden," Lyn said seeing her suspicion as baseless. "So? Are you and the King so close that you doubt he is incapable of hurting you." Moesha said while Jataime arrive at Lyn's chamber but stops his guards from announcing his presence. He was being careful around the queen. He just wants to know what secret she was hiding.
"I know for a fact the king won't hurt me," Lyn said confidently. "Really now my lady, think about it each time you got hurt or in trouble, it seems someone already knows your steps," Moesha said.
"I don't know about the others but I know for a fact the King will not hurt me. Why will he work with Consort Suva and her sons to hurt me when he can just do that with ease? And you said it yourself he searches for me tirelessly," Lyn tries to reason with Moesha.
"Even so you need to be wary around Pana and most especially the King. You have been hurt and betrayed all your life. I don't want to see you sad again," Moesha said. She was concerned the queen will be betrayed and hurt by the people she is starting to trust.
"I know, I'm not sad because of any of that I just feel bad when I told Demelza I didn't want to send any secret letters to King Acer. She might have had some thoughts. I don't know I just lose my hold each time I hear his name," Lyn lashes out standing on her feet.
"You have nothing to do with him or the kingdom anymore. My lady this is your home now. They can't hurt you any more than they already have," Moesha whispered holding her hand. Jetaime was still at the door listening to them. He was confused not knowing what to think.
He didn't know whether to ask her what father did to her but was afraid she will misunderstand the fact that he was listening to them. He was glad to know Lyn trusted him enough to know he will never hurt her.
Lyn stares at the flower pot on the table, it suddenly gave her some warmth. Jetaime walks in and signals Moesha to leave the room. "And since you know here is now her home, you better start addressing her as the queen and not your lady," Jetaime hushed while Moesha was forced to bow her head and force a smile. He was the one person she can't fight to protect the queen from but it also didn't mean she was afraid of him.
"Don't you think it will be nice to just leave from here? I thought we could live a peaceful life here. A life that no one will even notice us, but I have started a war I already feel tired to fight. Yes, I know let's run away from here," Lyn said turning to hold Moesha's hand but to her surprise, it was the King standing there.
"Run away?" Jetaime asked tilting his head. "Arrh, no, I …I.." Lyn stuttered. "You lost your tongue already? You were planning on escaping from here?" Jetaime asked in a hoarse voice making Lyn step back.
"Where is the golden hairpin?" Jetaime roars this time around in a loud scary voice when he realized Lyn wasn't wearing his mother's hairpin.
"…"
There was silence while Lyn tries to find the hairpin in her hair as if her head had swallowed it. "I promised I was wearing it, never took it off," Lyn wondered where the hairpin had gone too. She was wearing it in the morning now she couldn't find it.
She then remembers Jetaime's words clearly telling her if she misplaces the hairpin, he will punish her severely. "Oh no," she cries searching everywhere for the pin.
She turns everything upside down in her chamber while Jetaime felt disappointed. It has just been a day and the most important thing he has left was missing.
"Did you intentionally throw it away to enrage me?" Jetaime said angrily. "No, I swear, I was wearing it I… I .." Lyn stammered as tears roll down her cheeks. Jetaime was angry and it was scaring her.
