Jetaime was sitting behind his huge desk flipping through a pile of scrolls in front of him, he wonders why he had to constantly read every letter which never seem to cease.
He had tried his best to let his people live in peace and make sure they live in prosperity, he doesn't allow his constant war to affect the peace of the people in his kingdom.
With all his effort there are still complaints from the people, it's one complaint after another, there is someone blocking all his efforts and pocketing all the relief funds he has set in place for the people.
Even though he knew who it was, he was hoping the person will come to his senses and turn on a new leaf but it seems he only gets greedier by the day.
Sooner or later he was going to deal with him accordingly, he needs more evidence to convict the person for good so he is just going to let him feel pompous and confident to continue his wrongdoing.
He picks up another scroll and got lost in his thought for a moment. Recording memories from his time together with the queen makes him smile. He tried so hard to wipe the smile off his face but he couldn't. "I need to see her," he thought when he remember he still have a lot of matters to attend to.
One is the pile of scrolls that needs approval and decision making another is figuring out what King Acer is planning, 28 years of his life have thought him never to trust anyone or let them get too close.
He still doesn't know why he feels different this time around but he still needs to be careful, He finally made it out of his dreamland and went back to what he was doing before her sweet memories interrupted him.
He picks up the next scroll in front of him ad reads it, his blood begins to boil and he fumes in rage after the realization of the content, he slaps the flat scroll on the table, "How audacious of them!" he yells folding his fist.
"Your Highness," Byron walks in shortly after to see the King in rage. "They are really forcing my hand, do they think I can't kill all of them or what?" Jetaime growl directing his anger toward Byron.
"It's the prime minister again I suppose? He is the only one that can get under your skin," Byron asked picking the folder from the ground and reading it out loud he now understand why the king is so angry.
"Are you going to do as he says?" Byron asks putting the scroll gently back on the table and taking a step back, Jetaime walks around the table and stands next to him.
"I'm allergy to fools not afraid of them, I will beat him at his own game," Jetaime mumbles with a smirk on his face motioning Byron to move closer to him. Jetaime leans closer to him and whispers something into Byron's ears.
Prime Minister Young is the paternal uncle of consort Suva and Dewey and Danyon are his nephews. He will prefer one of his own to be sitting on the golden throne and not Jetaime, he is well aware of all his crimes both outside and inside the palace.
Also the powerful force behind Consort Suva. Out of respect for his father, he turns a blind eye to their deeds.
Byron was concerned about the king's idea but he can only obey, "Are you sure, this could bring you more trouble," Byron spat out.
"He asked for it, and I want to see if after this he will show his true colors or still hide under his wolf skin," Jetaime hissed with delight, he walks back to his seat crossing his legs.
"I will do as you say. By the way, how was last night?" Byron asked trying to change the aroma in the air, after all, he did put in a lot of effort so he had every right to know what transpire between them.
"Nothing, what do you want to hear?" Jetaime said sharply as he picks a scroll on the table and opens it trying to avoid the question.
"Everything of course from the very beginning to the very end, don't even leave a word out. How close did you two get?" Byron says as he leans closer to him in an attempt of reading his facial expression.
"I guess you're tired of being married, I can still issue the decree you know?" says Jetaime as he pushes Byron's head away from him with a smile.
"You are not getting out of this that easily, see you are even smiling. I knew it, you two did get close. I heard the palace maids talking about how weak and worn-out the queen was this morning," Byron mentioned.
"Hmm." Jetaime lays the scroll down and stares at him with a smiley face. "You want to know what happened huh? I should never had listen to you. I did as you said and took off…" Jetaime whispers making sure no one was listening, "My mask, and let her see my real face," Jetaime whispers as Byron smiles, he knew it will only get exciting after that.
"What was her reaction?" Byron asked. "Shock, she called me an imposter," Jetaime said as Byron laughs at his dilemma, he took his time to record and narrate everything that had happened between them to him.
"Wow my sister-in-law is really special indeed, you can't blame her I was shocked the first time I saw your face and in my heart, I thought it was someone else, well Demelza will be happy to hear this at least all our effort was not in vain," says Byron with a big smile plastered on his face. Jetaime couldn't help but smile too.
"I will go carry on your demand and hopefully, hell doesn't break lose as a result, your highness," Byron said almost wiping the smile off his face and giving him a gentle bow, he mostly calls him my lord, the times he uses your highness means he is to carry on a very important mission for the king.
Now it was time for him to carry on the orders Jetaime had given him. "Go on," Jetaime said going back to what he was doing.
After talking so much about the queen, Jetaime struggles to get her out of his thoughts and concentrate on his work, "Damn!" he needed to check on her and see how she was doing. It has only been 5 hours since he last saw her but is already worried about her safety. Madam Yina promised to look after her but she has other work to do.
Moreover, there are so many rules in the palace, from Jetaime's judgment of what he has seen so far, Jaelyn is not the kind that likes to follow rules, and that might get her into trouble.
"Who is there?" Jetaime called out as a guard walks into his study, "Bring those scrolls to my chamber," Jetaime ordered as he walks to the door.
"Yes, your highness," the guard nods and quickly went to carry the scrolls. Jetaime couldn't wait to find out what Jaelyn was doing and if she was already in trouble as he had predicted. 'Don't get too close, else it will be too late,' Jetaime heard a loud voice from within. It's his protective instinct speaking to him. Isn't it already too late?
"I really feel sorry for the queen, after the torture she went through last night she is being punished again," a cubby palace maid whispers.
"Yes you are right, she is even more pitiful than us. I wonder which is worse having to sleep with the king or having to deal with consort Suva?" another maid replies. Jetaime hears them gossiping in the hallway, they didn't hear him coming.
He was furious, he wasn't because of the bad things they were saying about him but of the fact that the queen was in the hands of consort Suva.
"I should cut that tongue of yours!" King Jetaime howls at them, they immediately go down on their knees bowing their heads when they became aware of his presence.
"We deserve to die, your highness please have mercy!" they both sputtered in trembling voices hitting their head on the ground. the punishment for denigrating the monstrous king was deathly, he wouldn't think twice before having them killed.
