Chapter 20 - New Consorts

"Mother, it has been a week since that foreign princess disparage your authorities and declared an open war in front of everyone and you still haven't done a thing about it. I'm starting to think you have lost to the little foreign princess,"

Prince Dewey, the elder son of consort Suva grumbles, his fury could shake the entire palace not less than her mother's consort Suva.

"I have my ways, my son, patience is a virtue and revenge is sweet when serve cold. The queen will pay dearly for the humiliation she put me through, but for now, your cousin Princess Asa will be entering the palace soon, as the king's consort," she informed then turn to look at his son's reaction.

"Why her? Why Princess Asa? My brother is a monster, why will uncle let his only daughter get married to a monster?" Prince Dewey sputtered angrily, he has being in love with her for so many years, for as long as he could remember. They were cousins but that didn't stop him from having sexual desires towards her, well 1st cousins to be precise.

"Son, I'm informing you beforehand because I know you are fond of her but your uncle and I are looking at the big picture. For big victories, small sacrifices like this need to be made. She will need all your helps to win the king's heart imagine her becoming the queen?" Consort Suva says with a satisfying smile while Prince Dewey tries to remain calm.

"Imagine she bears an heir that will be even great. My brother here can help with that right?" Prince Danyon, Prince Dewey's younger brother and the favorite son of Consort Suva, at least, was more practical and tactical than his brother who only loves to drink and fool around with the maids.

He walks into the room all of a sudden and places his hand around his brother's neck with a smirk on his face.

"You-" Prince Dewey angrily spats yanking his hand off. "You should be happy, you will have her close to you now Commander Lander,"

Prince Danyon smirks making Prince Dewey angry and hitting him hard close to his eyes. Prince Danyon laughs at his brother for spilling out his secret he thought no one knew.

"What is the meaning of this? Enough! I said enough! One more word and I will personally deal with you two. I can't believe you two still fight like you were ten years old,"

Consort Suva as any normal parent wouldn't like to see his children fight. She quickly calls them to order. Good thing she still has some amount of control over them.

They both love and respect their mother for that matter they let the subject rest without pushing it any further. The prime minister had commanded consort Suva to put things in other for his daughter to enter the palace successfully.

------

"My queen, it's been weeks since the king came to visit you. Could it be because of Princess Asa?" Pana mumbled while combing Lyn's hair. "Why should my lady care if your king visits her or not huh?" Moesha shuts her down.

"You don't know anything, the king and the queen were supposed to be together every Thursday until she bears an heir. People are saying the king has rejected the queen and will soon make Princess Asa, the daughter of the prime minister the new Queen," Pana hissed.

"Enough you two, I told you not to be listening to those rumors. Now hurry I want to visit princess royal Yasmin today," Lyn mumbled. She knew something like this could happen after all he had many women to choose from.

This way is even better, I will see him less and things won't be complicated when the time comes. She thought putting herself together and letting out a relieved sigh.

"What! Your Highness that woman is crazy, she can even hurt you," Pana thought it was a bad idea to see the crazy princess, Lyn was bored and needed to talk to someone.

Demelza visits her almost every day and they gossip about their husbands. She finally force her to talk about their wedding night but two days ago she stop coming to the palace for some unknown reasons. Lyn tried to find out but got nothing.

"It's fine besides I will just bring her some cookies that's all. You still haven't heard anything about Princess Demelza?" Lyn asked worriedly while she walks away from them.

"No your Highness, I only heard from one of the maids that young Master Byron went on a mission perhaps she went with him," Pana thought. That will make sense besides Demelza was extremely curious about everything. Lyn thought and smile it off.

"Well Pana go get the cookies," Lyn instructed turning to look at the rose of flowers in the vase, King Jetaime will have someone deliver the rose to her every day secretly. She knew it was from him perhaps wanted to make it up to her for ghosting her the way he did.

Lyn couldn't help but think she went overboard with her little trick of making Madam Yina think he was bullying her.

Speaking of the devil here she comes, Lyn turns her back only to find Madam Yina standing there.

She sometimes wonders if she is a ghost the manner in which she appears and disappears without a sound was scary.

"Your Highness," she said with a soft bow, Moesha had frozen upon seeing her, she is scared of her for some reason. Madam Yina nods her head and immediately Moesha caught the signal. "Yes madam," she replied leaving them alone to talk.

"Your Highness, I'm sure you are aware the king will be taking new consorts in a few days," Madam Yina mumbled, she wanted to caution her of what was ahead of her. As a queen, she is expected to accept and treat the other consorts well.

"Consorts? I thought it was only Princess Asa the prime minister's daughter, there is more?"

Lyn asked in shock wriggling with her hands. She wasn't expecting much in the first place but who wouldn't dream of love after seeing the king's true nature it was all her wishful thinking.

"Yes, Princess Asa, the Princess of Nalavon kingdom. Princess Aya and the Princess of Kalvon kingdom. Princess Mica." Madam Yina whispered with no emotion on her face. Lyn stands there in complete shock, not one but three at the same time.

"Congratulate him on my behalf, I will await your instruction on what I have to do," Lyn uttered as her heart breaks at her own words.

'Hold it together Jaelyn, you already know this was going to be a loveless match. Be grateful you at least have a good bed to sleep in and food to eat,' Lyn said to herself forcing a smile.

"Much better. I thought you will cause a combat like the last time, you still need to be cautious of Consort Suva she won't let things lay like that without having a comeback," Madam Yina warns her before taking his leave.

Lyn releases the muscles in her arms and walks out meeting Pana and Moesha on the way. "Slow down my lady, what did the old witch say to you? You look upset," Moesha whispered catching up with her.

"Nothing," Lyn replied sharply. "Are you sure it looks like you want to hit someone," Moesha whispered back making Lyn halts immediately. Moesha and Pana stop as well she turns to give Moesha an angry look. She knows best not to drag the matter any further she was mad, very mad.

----

"The queen ask me to congratulate you on her behalf, Your Majesty," Madam Yina delivers the queen's message and was ready to leave, King Jetaime thought the news would make Lyn upset and perhaps gets to enjoy seeing her throw a tantrum. A perfect way to get back at her but as usual he predicted wrong.

"What! She wasn't mad," Jetaime mumbled. "Not at all your majesty," Madam Yina hissed, bow her head, and walks away before the king could process what he was feeling.
