Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

The moon shined brightly against the lake, reflecting its light into the night.

It was so beautiful and she could not imagine letting hell take over the earth and ruining this. It just could not happen.

"Do you bring all your girls here?" She asked, making him smile half to himself.

It was something she did not quite recognize. He seemed taken aback by the question but also was not again.

"I've been coming here alone since I was sixteen." He told her half to himself. "My dad used to bring me here." He added. "Just me."

"Oh. That seems nice." She told him.

"He passed away ten years ago." He said regrettably. "He did this to me. He was the alpha."

"You don't like being the alpha?" She asked him, curiously coming closer as he took a seat beside the lake. There was a board that was layered into platforms just before the water began.

He had taken a seat beside one of them and let his legs splash in the water.

She gently sat beside him as she waited for him to speak.

"Maybe I don't." He said breaking into nervous laughter. "But there's nothing I can do about it so… I suck it up I guess."

"I'm sorry." She told him.

"We all have our part to play. If I wasn't the alpha, I wouldn't have met you." He told her, raising his head to meet her face.

That took her aback as she was not expecting him to say that.

"Come on." He said as he took off his shirt.

"What're you doing?" She asked, trying to hide the redness on her cheeks.

The moon glistened off his naked upper body as she tried not to stare at the chiseled state of his muscles.

He was built like a Greek god. This was not even fair. That was not a fair fight. She bit the bottom of her lips as she watched him take off his shirt and his shorts, leaving just his boxer shorts on.

"Don't make me go in all alone now." He told her. "Would be a real shame."

"I…" Selene trailed off as she tried to peel her gaze from his pectorals. "I didn't come dressed to swim." She told him.

"That's great. You wouldn't be dressed anyway." He told her as he took a dive into the lake.

He exclaimed as he plunged into the water, sticking his head back out as he wiped the water from his hair with both his hands.

"What're you still doing?" he asked. "Come on wussy." He told her.

"I…" She began again.

"Don't think. Just do it." He told her.

What the hell! She told herself as she stripped down to her bra and panties.

She made for the board as she took a dive of her own.

She yelled out loud as the cold water hit her body but slowly became warm as she came back up for air.

It was an exhilarating feeling. The cold was intense but it felt like her body was producing enough warmth to cater off it. And it was doing so rather rapidly too.

She almost felt his eyes on her. They were glistening blue but maybe it was the moon or simply just a wolf thing. He swam closer to her, as he did not break his gaze.

"See what happens when you listen to me?" he told her as he came within a safe distance.

"I'm not easily convinced." She said amidst shivers. The moonlight does very well to set the mood.

There were nocturnal birds hooting in the background of the magical forest but none of them mattered. Not when he was looking at her the way that he was. His eyes were locked into hers as he swam closer to her.

"I think I can take that challenge." He told her as he closed the distance between the two of them, reaching towards her from under the water as he dragged her closer.

The water was cold but she could feel his heart beating soundly against her chest.

She could feel the tension rising between them as she became frantic to be anywhere but in his line of sight. In his peripheral vision. She could tell that he was about to do something that they… well, she would want to shoot herself in the foot for.

He reached for her cheeks with his free hand as he etched closer like he was about to kiss her.

He lightly let his lips gently caress the corner of her lips, walking all the way past her cheeks in a deliberate teasing motion until he finally settled on her ears.

The heat that her body had been producing to cater for the flooding of external temperature had quadrupled but that did not stop her from shivering from the inside out as his lips settled dangerously beside her ear.

She let out a soft moan before she could compose herself.

"Tell me something." He said in a slow guttural growl-like tone that made her clench her thighs together even if they were in the water.

"I'm curious."

"Mhm?" She managed to respond to him.

"Your grimoire. How does that work exactly?" he asked her.

"What?" She said all of a sudden, taken aback by the sudden line of questioning.

"I've always wanted to know how it works." He asked, suddenly with a different expression.

She couldn't lie, that was not where she had seen this conversation going and she didn't want to admit it to herself but she was disappointed.

Maybe she should be grateful, she told herself.

"Well, it comes out when I need it to?" She said in a quizzical manner, unsure if she was doing it right.

"Like when you're in danger?" he asked her.

"Yes, and when my heart rate rises for other reasons too." She said, looking away from him. "It is basically a part of me so it can tell that something feels a lot different." She added.

"Like this?" He said and before she knew it, he closed the gap between them again, taking her lips for his own in the most aggressive manner and she did not mind it one bit. Her hands fell to the side as he invaded her innocent lips, parting her tongue with his and going deep inside her lips.
