Kylexisis POV
The next morning I awoke to the sound of birds chirps outside the window. Upon opening up my eyes to the wooden walls of my room, a narrow beam of sunlight shining through a split on the red curtains caressed my cheeks warmly. With a tired grunt, I pushed myself up to a sitting position on the bed and awakening Cerulean who lay right beside my thighs under the covers in the process.
That curled bundle of blue fur slowly stirred to reality and lazily opened up an eye to fix me with a groggy emotionless stare before closing his eyes to get back on his sleep. I wouldn't blame his exhaustion, I was weared out too, despite the sleep. We could only manage two hours of sleep due to spending the dead hours of the night burning midnight candles to complete sewing my dress and reading up on the dictionary that Arry had lended me.
The dictionary was exactly like the ones back on Earth, but with a row of some most common conversation sentences and words imperative to learn at the last five pages of the book. Like greetings, five magic words and introductions. And also to my surprise, learning the Vladimir words wasn't as difficult as I had thought it would be.
I have an unparalleled dexterity of acute memorization and academic skills, so with my high IQ mindset and Cerulean's infinite wisdom and knowledge combined with it learning the language was not rocket science.
I stretched my arm and my bones went crack and pop. A stifled yawn left my mouth as I rubbed a sore spot on my nape. My body ached from having sat on that goddamn chair all night long. One of the things that actually kept me going without the help of caffeine–in which I was badly having my usual cravings for, by the way–was the music I spent all night listening to through my ear pods.
I was so happy that my electronic devices still worked despite being on Tundran. I didn't think I would cope without it baring that I didn't quite know any survival tips for living in a fantasy, magical world. There was Google search to help me with everything that Cerulean didn't have the knowledge about, which was hardly ever and the Google maps wasn't of Germany anymore but if the entire world of Tundran. The settings had changed to match the world, even the time too.
I grabbed my phone that was lying by my pillow and switched it on to have a glance at the time. My eyes nearly popped out of my sockets when I caught the sight of a notification alerting me on my thirty percentage, low battery, please charge.
"Shit!" I cursed and immediately reached over to shake Cerulean awake. " Cerulean, Cerulean please wake up right now."
"Leave me alone, I want to sleep more." he mumbled with a grumble, moving away from me and squeezing himself into a tighter ball.
"Cerulean, come on please, I really need your help. It's life or death here. " I moaned in complaint prodding at his body with my phone and tugging at his tail. I wasn't going to give up now, I couldn't. My phone has always been an important necessity in my life, it was my only way of connecting with this world and frankly one of the ways of surviving whenever Cerulean wasn't there to help.
"Ugh, what do you want, huhn?" Cerulean finally snapped with an angry hiss. He sat up on the bed and faced me. " What could you possibly want from me this early in the goddamn morning. "
" Shhhh, you are a heavenly being, are you sure that you're supposed to be swearing? What would Ekhanto say? " I teased trying to lighten the mood, and pressed my fingers to his mouth to shut him up.
Cerulean looked down at my finger for a split second before smacking it away. " Bitch I will slash your pretty face with my kitty claws , Ekhanto wouldn't care shit as far as I'm not on holy ground and plus I'm a fallen angel now. I can cuss all and whenever I want. "
An astonished gasp left me." You used to be an angel? "
"No. A grim reaper. " he grumbled, looking away with an impossible pout.
"Even better, a grim reaper?!!" I gasped again.
"Stop gasping Lexi, honestly it's actually annoying. Just-" he broke out with a large overdramatic sigh and stared up at the ceiling like it would fix all his problems (which was probably about me... I think)"just tell me what it is that you want. I'm pretty tired and I need my sleep."
"Right sorry. " I said drawing circles on the side of my neck, a habit I tended to exhibit whenever I felt guilty. I switched on the phone and showed him the notification on the screen. " It's really low and I need to charge it."
Cerulean looked at me like I had grown a second head." Are you serious right now, Kylexisis?!" Cerulean smacking his forehead with his tiny soft paws." so that was why you deliberately woke me up from my sweet dreams to-to what charge your phone?"
" It was pretty low. " I counteracted defensively.
"And what, you couldn't wait a while for your poor little daemon to have a bit of rest before torturing him with your complaints to charge your phone?" he added staring incredulously at me with big green eyes.
I pouted and looked away from his judging stare, my fingers rubbing that spot on my neck again. " I feel like you're mad at me." I winced innocently.
His brows shot up on disbelief." Understatement of the century, I am furious! God, you are even more stupid than I gave you credit for."
" Hey! Stop it! I said I was sorry okay? geez, you really know how to keep a grudge don't you? " I winced with a roll of my eyes.
" Keep rolling those eyes and you might just find a brain back there." he grunted with a hard stare.
" Meany."I huffed softly." Look, I'm sorry okay but now that you're awake can you help? You said that I could charge it will lightening magic and I need your help to learn how to do that. And plus you are my daemon and you're kinda supposed to be helping me with everything without complaint and plus I know that-"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you don't have to rub it in my face. Fine just..." he paused to take in a controlled breath before fixing me with a solemn look. " it's easy, Lexi. You just have to connect with your void space again, but this time I want you to do it in a span of seconds, do it with your eyes open. Reach to your power and draw from it, command Amber for support."
" Okay, got it." I nodded and concentrated as hard as I could, so hard that my head split with a slight migraine and the eerie dark, but unusually comfortable feeling I felt when ever I was in the void overcame me. I felt it, that familiar feeling of the resting place of my power. It overwhelmed me, enlightened me, a feeling I knew that I would never get used to. Taking in a deep breath, I reached out to my lightening magic, letting myself sink into it's dept and called on Amber for guidance. Her tendrils gripped onto me followed by the pulsating Mana sinking into my skin. I immediately felt powered up.
"Hmm, not bad for your second time, Master. This is truly a miracle, how you seem to learn faster is scary honestly but I guess it's a good trait." he hummed in wonder.
A pleased smile broke out on my face." Pleasant complaint accepted, little C. And about how I'm faster in learning it's how I've always been. I have an unusually high IQ, I always had ever since I was born. I aced tests, formed theories, learned quickly, made gadgets-"
" Then why weren't you ever recognized?" he cut me off with a curious question.
I shrugged." I was...once, but I got cheated out of it and they stole one of my ideas. I declined every other partnership that I felt wouldn't benefit me, and the rest that I could have agreed to was either driven away of stolen or discouraged. My path and destiny was blocked at every angles and I didn't know why.....now I do."
" I'm sorry." he sympathized.
" The time for those days sympathy is long gone. I have a life here now and I intend to live it to the fullest, be it doing so as a girl or a Faey." I said softly with a smile and a shake of my head." Now continue with the lessons, I don't think anyone is awake and I want to take a long bath before they do so I won't hog all the bathroom for myself."
He rolled his eyes at me,but I could see his mouth twitch and the amusement dancing in his identical green orbs." Alright, hasty, grab on to your phone...."
I did as he said.
" Now this part is going to be hard, but I'm sure it won't be for you. It's kind of all about mathematics. You are going to transfer little current into the phone, but only a little and ample enough to make sure the device doesn't get destroyed. Too much power can fry the so called circuit, and too little well can either do nothing or cause an unforseen problem. You have to calculate the amount of electricity you give out or it could cause a traumatic experience for your device. It shouldn't be too hard for you."
" Are you kidding me Cerulean?" I squealed." how do you expect me to do that. You know this isn't just about calculations, this is about magic, there could be radiation, or a side effect of the supernatural energy. And plus I am not some circuit, how am I supposed to know how much a tiny jolt of my lightening magic is."
Cerulean blinked, and then blinked again and for a moment I actually thought that he was contemplating an answer to my question until he blinked again and shrugged nonchalantly." Beats me."
"Are you serious?" I groaned loudly dragging my hand over my face. I didn't have the strength or Mooxy to deal with his mellowness. Grumbling obnoxiously, I pressed my index finger to my phone's charging port. I took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly, Cerulean told me that my magic was just as strong as my will, just as strong as my imagination as I shape it to reality right? I imagine my self as my charger, imagined the way I thought the electric current will flow through the wires of the cord, imagine little currents filling up the low percentage and finally released my magic into the phone.
A few second later, I got a notification that had me opening my eyes immediately to stare at it. Battery fully charged." Yes!!" I squealed in delight doing my happy dance on the bed, making Cerulean bounce a bit." I did it! I freaking did it can you believe it Cerulean? I did it!"
" Yah, congrats, stand up for the champion." Cerulean cheered lazily, sarcasm dripping from his voice." Now can you shoo away go wash up so I can have some time to sleep?"
" You don't want to take a bath?" I cocked my head in question.
" With this state of drained energy, hell no, I'll end up drowning in the tub by falling asleep. I'm good, and take your time, I need the rest." he explained and moved to lay down in a heap onto my pillow.
I smiled softly at him, stroking his soft fluffy fur tenderly before moving away from the bed. I tucked my phone in the safe compartment along with my ear pods I promised to charge later on, and grabbed one of the dresses that I had made. I exited the room and made my way quietly towards the bathroom. It wasn't in use gladly, and I did my business, making sure to stall for Ceruleans much needed rest–not that I was complaining–and only leaving the bathroom after I had heard Eydis's voice outside the door in the small hallway.
I cleaned up and changed into my medieval clothing. A red dress that stopped at the middle of my thigh, it's hands flay and free, black tight corset from the Rosemary's accessories,my pair of black jeans under the short dress the new boots I bought. I looked good, I thought admiring myself in the mirror. I ran a brush through my hair and plait it into a braid that draped across one of my shoulder.
I exited the bathroom and headed straight to my room. Cerulean stirred awake, no longer looking as tired as he did, didn't feel like it too." You sleep well?" I asked despite know I the answer to that question.
"Hmmm, thank you for stalling." he said with a yawn.
"Let's go greet the others and have some breakfast." I said, grabbing the dictionary and history book from the reading table and stuffing them into a small muddy brown satchel that I found along with the sewing equipments in the box. I'm pretty sure Eydis will let me borrow it." Come on-"
"Wait!" Cerulean stopped me.
"What is it, why?" I asked retracting my steps a few feet away from the door and faced him with a puzzled look." what's wrong?"
"Have you forgotten to learn to glamour yourself? if you want to walk out in the daylight full of dangers you have to change your appearance to something much more natural. That red cloak of yours won't hide you forever."
" ohhhhhhh, that true. I totally forget.....um.....I don't .....how am I supposed to do that exactly?" I chewed at the bottom of my lips, thinking back to a movie I had watched where they had glamoured themselves invisible, but the only problem that they had done it with the help of angelic runes. I didn't possess any glamouring runes, nor was I an angel in any way at all.
"It's easy, your imagination makes it possible to glamour perfectly. The picture of how you want to look like must be absolutely detailed to the core or you end up looking like a distorted human monster." Cerulean explained lazily with a huff." um.....you kind of just have to imagine vividly, make sure your Mana surrounds your entire body and then you bend the light around yourself, mold it into what you have in mind. With the use of your will of course."
" oh, uh well, that doesn't sound easy all, Cerulean." I pouted plopping myself down on the bed.
" Magic isn't supposed to be easy, that is why it takes years for one to be a mastery of it. But we simply do not have that luxury, we will make do with what we have, especially with your learning fast asset. If you want to escape the walls of this building you have to learn to glamour."
" okay fine. I'll eventually, have to learn it, no time like the present." I capitulated despite my reluctance and crossed my legs on the bed so I could face him." Run it from the beginning and guide me. I'm listening."
