I grab the bag of coins as well as the paper and hobble out the door. The pain would have made me gasp for breath but instead I'm gasping because my legs won't move as they're supposed to. I stumble around leaning against the wall taking heavy breaths as I continue walking. I feel my eyes slowly drift closed as something wet drips down my head and with a thud I'm out cold.
I groggily open my eyes to see a massive gate staring menacingly at me, I blink rapidly not fully understanding the situation. Silent cries interrupt my daze, turning my head I see Anthon holding back tears as he glares at the gate. I slowly try to get up but my body won't work. I try again but my broken body will only allow me to helplessly fall to the floor with a small thud. Anthon turns his head to see me conscious and the once silent tears start falling down drip by drip.
"Mom!" Anthon calls as he rushes to my side, my once empty hand is filled with the warmth of his tiny fingers. "I-i-i thought you were dead!" He screams as tears wet my dress,
I weakly start patting his back. I urge every fiber in my body to not collapse again, "Let's go." I mumble as I try to get up again, instead of failing, Anthon helps me up albeit weakly. I look around and much to my relief the bag of money and paper are by my feet. I try to reach for them but Anthon beats me to it. Roughly understanding the situation I start walking down the dirt paved road until I see a carriage.
I try to flag it down like a taxi, and much to my surprise it works. "Can you take me to the village?" I question as I hide Anthon behind me, the woman looks displeased until I give her a few rubs that I usually save in my pocket for emergency situations.
I hear the rough words, "Get on." and board the back filled to the brim with many goods such as spices and foods.
