***Ava's POV **
Even when I tried to be strong, I still cried.
Why do bad things happen to me? I asked myself.
The moment that huge man lock me in, I lay down without a fight. I was exhausted the whole situation made me hungry. I remember I didn't eat last night before going to bed and my stomach growled in response to my thoughts about food.
Slowly I draw back to sleep only to be woken by a slight touch of hands on my face.
the smell of pines and sweet and a shadow of someone hovered over me.
I fluttered my eyes open and they fell on a dark with flickers of gray hair man in his thirties, he wore a white long sleeve and suit trousers, his suit coat hung around his shoulder, and his hair was well creamed and made to cover half of his left eye, he had an oval-shaped face with well shaved defined jaws, his close well-arched brows always look crease due to his never smiling personality, he had a long pointed nose and a fiery ocean blue eyes, he had a peach colored small but full lips which was slightly protruded, I could not deny that he was dangerously handsome.
I jolted away from him, "who is he?" I questioned myself.
He didn't spare me a word, his face was expressionless, he inches close to me again, if I had the strength I would have run away from his touch. my bones were weak and won't listen to me, I relax when he brought out something from his pocket.
"healing balm" I recognize it straight away, he move some strands of hair from my face and roughly applied it to my head
"How did he know that I hurt my head," I thought to myself.
Comparing his look to the one that walk in the shadow, who tried to kill me.
it has to be the same person, but why? Those questions I ask myself I might never get an answer to it before my soul will finally leave my body.
He turned to leave, but I fell flat on the floor and held his leg, I know he won't let me go but I just had to plead, give it a shot one last time, he kicked my hands off of his feet and his dark aura became deadly, he screamed with his hands scattering his hair in a frustrated manner.
He look so frustrated and my gaze fell on that red patch on his head.
"You should have been dead and I should have been celebrating your terminations with wine," those words shattered the remains piece of my heart, why should I die, am I not even allowed to choose how I die?
A renewed strength gathered in me and I cried.
"And don't you dare to cry," he warned me.
Am also not allowed to cry, I did not heed his warning, he was going to kill me anyway, why should I obey his command when he asked what he can do to make me happy, I thought God had finally intervened only for him to refuse my request.
He left after making me feel utterly miserable, and I returned to curling myself on that cold floor.
Some hours passed and I heard the creaking of that same door, I lay motionless on the floor not caring to see who my guest was.
The sound of heels and a tap on my shoulder made me open my eyes.
"get up," she said to me in a commanding tune.
I struggled to stand up but I couldn't, I was only able to lift my upper body. My adaptor had left the light on so I can see clearly.
I let my gaze wander around her wrinkled face.
She's a woman in her sixties, she had short gray hair and a wrinkled face, she was putting on a white long sleeve and a black tank skirt, her heels were not too high of heels but it has the usual clanking of heels when she saunters.
"Oh dear, you can't stand on your feet," she said with a frown, she furrowed her brows at me and I wonder if she was trying to show some empathy or if she merely was emphasizing how sluggish and unkempt I looked.
"What's your name?" she asked in a shaky voice.
"Ava, ma'am," I answered her, and her wrinkled face lit up in a small toothy smile.
She bends her upper body and peers into my eyes, "should I help you?" she asked.
For a split second, I was overwhelmed with joy as I thought she meant she wants to help me escape.
I let out a genuine smile, "Thank you so much," I heard myself thanking her, My drained energy was back again.
She brought her hands forward gesturing for me to take her hand. "here let me help you," she said, and as soon as those hands and her words reach my ear, I wiped away all traces of the smile on my face.
It was a reflex action but I found myself reaching out to her hands and clasping onto her hands crying.
"Please help me escape please," I pleaded.
I shook her violently so that, she had to slap my hands for me to let go, I jerk my hands away as the place where she had slapped me hard, stung with pain.
Her faint smile was now replaced with irritation and with a harsh old voice she screamed at me.
"Get a grip on yourself!"
I vibrated with fear at her impulsive behavior, I was about to tear up more but the door opened, and my adaptor rushed in with bloodshot eyes.
He stared daggers at the old woman in front of him as if she had perpetrated a great crime.
"What is going on here?" in his deep husky voice, which always sounds dangerous he asked. I was scared to death that the old woman will tell him about my plea to help me escape and he might decide to punish me so I decided to speak up.
"I was...." he cut me shut in between my words.
"you, keep the shut up!" he said pointing one of his fingers at me, and I swallowed hard.
The old woman kept her gaze down not daring to look him in the eyes.
"I asked a question!" he asked again, something about his yell sent a shiver down my spine.
"I was trying to help her get on her feet," With an old trembling voice she said.
I look around the room and spotted the rest of the maidservants staring at me with rage, they are witnesses to what just happened, I thought she would tell on me but it seems the old woman withheld information.
One look at him and I could tell he knew everything that had just happened. For that moment I thought he was going to teach all of us in that room a lesson, like call a guard to whip our ass out, but he didn't.
He breathed out loudly, probably a therapy to let out his anger.
I watch him keenly and his gaze met mine then I averted my gaze and focus on looking at the ceiling, He didn't say a thing anymore and only gestured to the servant to leave us.
The next thing I saw was someone bending to my height and picking me up from the floor in a bridal way. I kicked my legs in the air but I was too weak to be doing that besides I'm way too petite to take on his size.
I did not dare to look up at him and did not hold on to him either, but I knew his gaze was less hostile now.
"If you don't hold on to me I will drop you down the stairs, and you will die as I have always hoped," he said gritting his teeth.
I immediately wrap my hands around his neck, as I could not see the reason why he would bluff about that to me.
"Why is he treating me like this, if he had already planned on killing me,"
