Maverick leaned closer and pecked on Jessica's lips. He waited for Jessica to respond. Jessica looked into his eyes. She felt a strange connection. Her neck started to get warm. She felt different feelings that she never felt before.
She pulled Maverick closer and kissed him. The two passionately kissed with their eyes closed.
It was their first kiss.
Suddenly, Maverick noticed that Jessica stopped kissing him.
Mark: What happened?
Jessica tried to get up. Maverick moved aside and Jessica sat up. She looked at Maverick with a smile.
Jessica: Nothing
Mark: Don't lie.
Jessica stood up and looked at the sky. The surrounding was calm and the night sky was full of stars. The street lights were shining brightly, illuminating the whole street.
Mark: Jane, what's hurting you?
Maverick walked up to Jessica and stood beside her.
Jessica: The night. Isn't it so beautiful?
Mark: Yes. Starry nights hit different.
Maverick held Jessica's shoulders and turned her to him.
Mark: You look sad.
Jessica: It's quite late now. I'm feeling sleepy
Jessica tried to go away but Maverick held her shoulders tightly.
Mark: I've seen the sadness in your eyes. It's not the first time I saw you sad. From the first day, I've seen that. Tell me what is the matter? Why are you sad?
Jessica looked the other way. There were deeper secrets than anyone can imagine. She could never tell those to anyone.
*Flashback*
*17 Years ago*
??: Yippee! We're going on a vacation!
A man of 25 years old looked at the small boy with a smile.
??: Where's sis?
Man: She's getting dressed.
After two minutes, a kind-looking woman came out of the house.
??: Mom!
The little boy hurried and hugged her mother. A baby girl was in the woman's arms.
???: Mom... Look at bloder! He luks cute
The baby girl said in her baby voice. The boy was Jane's brother. Jane was born to a wealthy businessman. Their family was happy.
Jane was only two years old and her brother was three years old. It was this vacation that changed their lives. Forever.
The family got inside a limo and the father started to drive.
Jane was wearing a beautiful pink color frock with a pink hairband. The brother was wearing denim and a t-shirt with a blazer. Their mother was wearing jeans and a top with a jacket and their father was wearing a suit. They're going to Disneyland.
Jane: Daddy, when weell we lich?
Dad: Quite soon my dear.
Jane was playing with her brother in the car. After a few minutes, Jane fell asleep on her mother's lap.
After an hour, their father stopped the car.
Mom: What happened?
Their father drove the car to an empty area. Jane's father immediately got out of the car and lifted her brother in his arms. Jane's mother came out of the car with sleeping, Jane.
Mom: What happened?
Dad: We need to hide quick
And then, a terrible thing happened all of a sudden. A gunshot was heard nearby.
Dad: Take the kids and go!
Mom: But, what about you?
Dad: Their safety is my priority. Go fast!
The two were arguing. Finally, Jane's mother agreed and she ran to a safe place with Jane and her brother. She hid the kids in a small shop.
Mom: Don't make a sound until I come back.
She locked the door and she came out. Jane was crying.
Jane: What happened to daddy?
Brother: Don't worry sis. Our parents are superheroes. They'll save us soon. They're saving the rest of the people.
Her brother was also worried but he did his best to calm his sister down.
Jane's mother ran to her husband and her eyes widened on seeing what lay in front of her eyes. Her husband lay in a pool of blood, his face couldn't be recognized at all.
Mom: NO!!!
She knelt beside his body and cried bitterly. Her hands and dress were blood-stained.
Meanwhile, the two children could hear gunshots and they closed their ears. After a long time, calm was restored in the surroundings. It was already dark. Jane had fallen asleep on her brother's lap.
No one came. Jane's brother was worried. Suddenly, he saw a gap near a corner of the shop on the other end.
He woke her up and pointed at the whole.
Brother: Sis, look at that big whole. We can get out from there.
Jane: But.. mommy and daddy, they haven't come
Brother: I know. We need to get out. What if the shopkeeper comes and finds us here and reports us to the police?
Jane nodded and she followed her brother. Jane got out of the hole and waited for her brother.
But..... after that, she never saw her brother. As per her brother's instructions, she hid behind a bush waiting for him. But, he never came to her. The next day, she was discovered by a passerby, and then, in the blink of an eye, she started to stay in the orphanage.
*Flashback ends*
*Back to present*
Jessica: Today's the death anniversary of my parents. It was their marriage anniversary as well
She took a deep breath. She didn't want to cry. Jane never cried in front of everyone after she (Jane) lost everything in her life.
Mark: I'm sorry
Jessica: Mark, can you leave me alone? For today?
Maverick nodded and he went to another room. Before leaving the room, he kissed her forehead and wished her 'Good Night'.
Jessica: The time has come (smirks)
The night passed...
*Next Morning*
Jessica woke up early. She found Maverick nowhere in the mansion. She tried to contact him but there was no response.
??: Boss has left for some important work. He told you to come with us.
A bodyguard came to her room informed. Jessica nodded and told him to leave.
Jessica: Will you come today?
???: Tomorrow
The other person cut the call. Jessica freshened up and got ready to go out. She brushed her hair and let it down, covering her ears.
The bodyguards along with her went to the house. Daniel was in the house, rest went to work.
Daniel: Morning
Jessica smiled and went to her room. Daniel left for his work. She called Maverick again.
Mark: On my way
He hung up and Jessica called someone else.
Jessica: Be careful. They're dangerous.
??: Nothing compared to us together
Jessica smiled and her cheeks turned rosy.
Jessica: I know Agen—
She heard the sound of a car outside the house.
Jessica: I'll call you later.
She cut the call and deleted the call history. She saw Maverick getting out of his car and entering the house. Maverick entered her room and she hugged him tightly.
Mark: Get ready.
Jessica left him and frowned.
Jessica: Now?
Maverick nodded and went to his room. He took a quick shower and got ready. Jessica did the same.
Jessica: Mark, I'm read—
Jessica proceeded towards Maverick's room but she bumped into someone else.
Alex: Hey Jane. When did you come?
Jessica: Almost an hour ago. Where have you been?
Alex: Just gang stuff.
Alex went away. Maverick whistled at Jessica from downstairs. She looked down and saw him. She smiled and went to him.
Jessica: Where are we going? Don't say surprise this time.
Mark: You'll see soon.
The two got inside the car and after fifteen minutes reached a tall building. The two got out and Maverick started to walk. Jessica followed him and they entered the building.
Security: Good Morning Boss
Maverick nodded and walked forwards, Jessica by his side. He looked more serious than before.
The two took an elevator and went to the fifth floor. Maverick took Jessica to an office on the fifth floor. A man of 25 years was sitting there. On seeing Maverick, he stood up and bowed to him.
Maverick: She'll join the planning department. Today
Jessica and that man both looked at him with wide eyes.
Jessica: I'll be joining the gang? For real?
??: Boss, she's a woman. Or maybe a girl. She can't deal with the gang stuff.
Jessica: Do you know me?
Jessica looked at that man with stern eyes. The man was the underboss of the planning department. The boss was Albus as mentioned before. His name is Louis Lee.
Louis: Of course. You're Boss' girlfriend. But—
Jessica: You shouldn't judge someone based on his or her gender. Let me work here for a few days. See my progress. I never knew that such people can live in a country like the US. Mark, I mean Boss, you hire people for the gang who have this kind of mentality?
Maverick smiled looking at her.
Mark (thinks): That's ma girl
Louis: Fine. Follow me
Jessica kept looking at Louis. Maverick wished her good luck and Jessica smiled at him.
Jessica: Thank you
Mark: I know you can
Jessica nodded and followed Louis. Louis took her to a big hall where a lot of men were working on computers. A few were also busy checking some files. Albus was sitting right at the other end of the hall scanning the whole hall. Louis took her to Albus.
Louis: Boss, Boss Maverick told me—
Albus: Yeah, the Top 5 knows about this. We've agreed to let her join
Louis: Oh okay.
Louis went back to his office and started to continue his work.
Albus looked at Jessica. Unlike that day at the house, he looked very serious.
Albus: Just because you're Boss' girlfriend, that doesn't mean that I'll compromise with you. Like other members, you'll also have to work hard and be punctual
Jessica nodded. Albus led her and he showed her her workplace. He gave her a few files.
Albus: Go through these files. Read the instructions and other details mentioned.
Jessica opened a file. It was about the rules and regulations of the planning department. She read everything carefully.
She took the second file. There was a photo of a man on the first page. She turned to the second page.
Jessica: David Edward Robinson?
The file was about David and his family. She read everything carefully and found out that her suspicion was true. Mia was truly his daughter. Mia wasn't Mia Williams, she was Mia Robinson.
The gang had planned to rob him a long time ago. David Robinson was, like most politicians, a corrupted person who could do anything to gain money. He was even ready to destroy the lives of the inferior just for money.
Jessica: The agency's trying to help this person! Are the authorities out of their mind?
??: Hey girl! New here
Jessica looked to her left. A man with tattoos on his hands and neck, piercings on his ears, and a lip piercing was sitting.
Jessica nodded.
Jessica: You are?
??: I'm Peter Bennett. You're Boss' girlfriend, right?
Jessica smiled.
Jessica: Can you help me with the stuff? I'm new and have no idea about anything
Peter: Sure!
Jessica was happy to make a friend in her department. Peter seemed very friendly. He made her know a lot of things about the gang. Peter was an employee in the gang for more than two years.
Jessica: Daniel is responsible for the fighting department? My gosh! He doesn't look like that though
Peter laughed.
Peter: When you met our Boss, did you think that he could be the gang leader of the most dangerous gang in the USA?
Jessica: Point.
Peter: You need to see Boss Daniel with his fighting peeps. No one can match his fighting skills.
Albus: Excuse me, I want silence here.
Albus appeared out of nowhere with an angry look.
Albus: Peter, don't you know what are the rules of my department? I want pin-drop silence. I decide who will speak and who won't. Do you want to get killed?
Peter looked scared and looked down. Jessica looked at Peter and then at Albus.
Jessica: Boss, he was helping me—
Albus: Am I invisible?
Jessica: You seem to be busy with your stuff. Weren't you thinking about someone? And it's mentioned in the rules that we shouldn't disturb the Boss when he's busy with his stuff. I can't disturb you, Boss. So, having no choice I asked for Peter's help and he helped me. I don't see anything wrong with this. You shouldn't have been busy thinking about someone, then nothing of this sort would've happened.
The whole department was looking at the three, leaving their work. Albus, himself was stunned. It was true. He was busy thinking about Mia.
Albus let out a sigh.
Albus: Continue your work, everyone.
Saying he went back to his seat.
Peter looked at Jessica with awe.
Peter: Wow! You're awesome. No one had ever stood up against Boss Albus. You do have guts.
Jessica thanked him.

She was sitting idly as she wasn't given any projects. It was quite late. Almost everyone has left the gang except those who'd joined the fighting department. Albus has also gone.
Jessica called Maverick.
Jessica: Hey, can I stay here? For today?
Mark: You sure? I mean it's your first day.
Jessica: Yeah. I'm loving this place and the people. Never imagined that there can be friendly people in a gang.
She giggled.
Mark: Okay. Good night!
Jessica cut the call. It was already one o'clock. She yawned and looked at her computer. There were different files about the recent plans made by the gang. She shut the computer down and laid her head on the table. She was feeling sleepy.
It was dark everywhere on that floor. A man's silhouette could be seen standing near the door of the planning department. He walked closer to Jessica.
??: Finally, we meet
He took a strand of her hair and twirled it around his finger. Jessica frowned. The man smirked and kept twirling her hair. Jessica slightly opened her eyes. She saw a man standing and playing with her hair.
No sooner did she sit upright than the man closed her mouth.
??: Don't say a word.
"Who are you?"
