Duke Caius looked into Mabel's eyes with a serious expression, gently gripping her shoulders. "Well then, Mabel, let's talk about the most important thing," he began, his voice filled with concern. "Why did you end up at the Fae Forest?"
Mabel, with an innocent look, tilted her head. "What is 'fae'?" she asked, showing her lack of understanding.
Duke Caius realized that Mabel's perspective might be vastly different from his own. He decided to rephrase his question.
"Let me ask in a different way. Why did you get separated from Isabella?" he inquired.
Mabel's anxiety grew, fearing her father's reprimand. She cautiously set the book aside, seemingly preparing herself to make excuses.
However, Duke Caius saw through her intentions and crossed his arms, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Don't try to deceive me, Mabel. You're not a very good liar."
