Chapter 39 - Limits of Wisdom

In the time it took Adrian to skip across the ground and stop the pain and injury had completely healed.

The shadow that resembled him had appeared behind him once more delivering a roundhouse kick directly into his neck snapping it in two causing Adrian to fall limb for only a moment.

In that moment the shadow of Zero had already closed the gap while commanding energy clouds to consume Adrian.

Just before the clouds of energy devoured him Adrian's neck cracked back into place allowing him to dodge out of the way forcing the shadow into the line of fire.

Luckily the clouds were dense enough to obscure the two shadows' vision allowing Adrian just enough time to get on his feet.

By the time the shadow of Zero realized that its attack hit its friend, Adrian was already at its side, locking it into a grappling contest.

Once the shadow was in range Adrian used a mixture of Hapkido and Jiu Jitsu to completely lock the shadow's movements.

Both luckily and unluckily, Adrian smelled an acrylic smell notifying him of the approach of the other shadow thinking quickly Adrian switched his hold on the Zero shadow to a leg-based hold freeing his hands.

The shadow that looked like Adrian lunged at Adrian in hopes of knocking his partner free and as he did a loud snapping sound could be heard.

Adrian heard the clicking of the other shadow quickly throwing his upper body back to avoid the damage from the shadow dislocating his right leg in the process.

As the shadow of Adrian made contact with the real Adrian he grabbed his dislocated leg, breaking it as he wrapped it tightly around the shadow of Zero's throat.

With backward momentum added by the shadow Adrian, Adrian was shot backward taking the head of the shadow Zero with him.

Instantly killing the first shadow making the fight a one-on-one.

Seeing his friend's head launched into the air, the shadow Adrian let out a demonic roar, causing the energy that made up Shadow Zero to disperse making the energy clouds denser and more volatile.

After being enraged the shadow started to move as if it was unaffected by the 25,000 times Gravity as it moved so fast it left after images and the air constantly released sonic booms.

With his sense of vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch all useless to track this enemy Adrian desperately tried to reestablish his mental connection with Sakura.

With his attention diverted the shadow, which looked to be breaking down from the gravity load on its body, started its onslaught continuously battering Adrian from all angles.

Unable to react without any sensory cues Adrian started to panic especially more so when Adrian noticed that there hadn't been a single Nexus Message or System message.

As soon as he realized that fact he felt an intense pressure on his mind that had been clouding his thinking and sense without him noticing.

It was then that Adrian found that Wisdom was not omniscient, and it required noticing the stress on his mind if the interference fell below harmful levels.

Just as Endurance expanded its scope with the ingestion of the Yggdrasil sap, maybe something could expand his Wisdom to notice smaller stimuli.

Once he noticed the mental attacks two system messages came into view.

[Illusion shattered by Wisdom]

[Wisdom limit found requires supplement]

Once the messages were read the world around him revealed itself as his senses expanded allowing him to catch hints of where the shadow Adrian was.

The only downside was now, Adrian could feel his eardrums bursting and reforming over and over from the pressure and deafening sound of multiple sonic booms in every direction.

The constant pain in his head severed to motivate Adrian to finish this fight faster.

Just as Adrian locked onto the shadows position it mimicked Adrian's god's breath in the same way it mimicked Zero's absolute domination.

And in a single breath, it absorbed the energy of all the clouds within five feet of itself before breathing it out in a concentrated beam of thunderous energy.

Noticing this Adrian tried to activate his time dilation from his authority.

Fortunately, when Adrian did he found out how the shadow acted without being affected by the gravity but even this only put them on equal footing speed-wise.

Just as Adrian activated his ability he was shot back to his original whole 30-yards away.

The lightning mapped his body making him more able after the numbness passed.

Just as Adrian got to his feet he and the shadow activated their own versions of blood mist at the same time.

Adrian's black blood mist filled the air around him, all the while it absorbed the chaotic energy clouds around it to fuel the damage and regeneration to his body, creating a field in which he could sense anywhere within with little difficulty.

The Shadow's blood mist on the other hand was a more inky black liquid than the void-like blood of Adrian, but it used its blood mist to cover his body like a suit of armor.

Instead of a battle of same vs same, it suddenly became a battle between high speed vs high defense.

Thanks to the process of releasing his blood mist Adrian's mapping of his body was near complete allowing for him to release more fluid movements and more flexibility.

Without relying on his sense of hearing or sight Adrian felt a much deeper connection with the blood mist when he interacted with it using his sense of touch.

This connection with the mist had Adrian's mind flooding with ideas when suddenly Zero's hand seals appeared in his mind.

With a single sway of his hand, Adrian became one with the mist around him.

With his presence concealed Adrian watched as the Shadow did a similar hand sign and pulled an inky spear out of his misty armor.

Adrian stood perfectly still as the Shadow flashily swung his spear in an attempt to find Adrian.

In a single moment, the air heated up as the energy clouds in the area exploded bathing the area in lightning.

As soon as the lightning disappeared only five seconds later Adrian shot forward as he congealed blood around his fist creating gauntlets of blood.

Confident he would win Adrian wound up his hardest-hitting attack, however, once he was within 10 feet of the Shadow stared deep into his soul as it roared knocking Adrian back with just the blast from his breath.
