Mae stood at her locker, textbooks neatly arranged within its confines. Her mind buzzed with the melody of a song that played on a constant loop in her head, her lips unconsciously forming the words as she hummed softly. Lost in her own world, she didn't notice Chen approaching through the bustling hallway.
Suddenly, with a mischievous grin, Chen slammed her locker closed, startling Mae. The loud bang echoed in the corridor, causing her to jump out of her skin. She turned to face Chen, an expression of amusement and annoyance evident on her face.
"Chen! What was that for?" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with both surprise and playful annoyance.
Chen's smile widened as he ran a hand through his hair, then gently swiped her hair to the side of her face. "I couldn't resist the opportunity to grab your attention. You looked so enchanted humming that song."
