Chereads / The War of Races: Beland’s Secret / Chapter 3 - Camp Battle

Chapter 3 - Camp Battle

As the sunset faded, the Orlando Mountains were completely engulfed by darkness.

The orc camp in the valley was also shrouded in blackness. The firelight in the night not only failed to bring security to the camp, but might also attract powerful beasts or unknown enemies.

On the continent of Beland, besides humans, beasts, elves and other intelligent creatures, there were countless other formidable creatures living. They had only the instinct of animals, but they were strong and fierce, and intelligent creatures were also their food.

Inside a large tent in the middle of the orc camp, a lioness looked at the two moons, one red and one blue, in the sky through the window at the top of the tent.

Beland Continent has two satellites. The surface soil of Nasa, which is rich in iron oxide, is red. The surface gas of Tasha, which is rich in methane, is light blue under the sunlight. In the ancient legend that has been circulating on Beyland for many years, the goddesses Nasa and Tasha are sisters who married the star god Aselo, the incarnation of the sun. Therefore, the male members of the human and beast races on the continent are allowed to have two wives.

"Madam, are you still awake?" A gentle voice of a leopardess guard, Shala, came from outside the tent.

"There's no one else here, call me Joya. Shala, come into the tent and keep me company, will you?"

The sound of the tent curtain being lifted followed.

"Joya, we have escaped their pursuit, what are you still worried about?"

The lioness Joya shook her head slightly, her eyes shining brightly in the night. "I have a very bad feeling, ever since we entered the mountains, my mind has been restless. Maybe I'm overthinking, but if anything happens, don't mind me, take Leon away and send him to my father."

Shala gently held Joya's hand. "Leon has already lost his father, he can't lose his mother too. Don't worry, I will protect you both and get you safely to the Bloodflame Tribe."

"Thank you Shala, if it wasn't for you I don't know what I would do."

"Joya…" Shala was about to say something when she suddenly stopped. She noticed a faint smoke drifting into the tent.

"Enemy attack!" A flash of cold light tore through the tent. Holding a pair of crescent blades, Shala leaped out of the tent.

At the same time that Shala leaped out of the tent, a huge fireball fell on the nearby tent. The fireball exploded and engulfed the whole tent in an instant.

"A mage!" Shala's heart sank.

One fireball after another fell into the campsite. One by one tents were set ablaze. "Why is there a mage here?"

Under the firelight, one figure after another rushed into the camp, killing the sleeping orcs in the tents that had not yet been set on fire.

"It's human mercenaries, orc warriors attack!" Shala roared, rushing towards the mage at the camp gate.

The human mage was the biggest threat, and Shala's first reaction was to rush up and kill her.

Shala had only rushed out a dozen meters when a tall warrior emerged from the diagonal and slashed at Shala's waist with a sword shining with cold light.

Shala's crescent blade hooked sideways, trying to deflect the sword and continue rushing forward.

The crescent blade and the sword collided, and Shala's body shook. The weapon in her hand almost slipped out. Shala slid sideways for four or five meters before she completely unloaded the force on the greatsword.

Shala stared at the big-bearded man in front of her holding a huge sword, her heart sinking to the bottom. With just one strike, Shala knew that she was no match for the man in front of her, who was already a high-ranking human warrior at the level of a battle instructor.

"What about Joia and the others if I can't even handle myself?" Shala couldn't help but look back.

Joia also rushed out of the tent, but was stopped by a man dressed as a hunter, and kept retreating under the hunter's attack.

Dozens of orc warriors roared out of the tents that had not yet been set on fire, but they were met by crossbow bolts shining with cold light shot out of the darkness.

The strong bodies of the orc warriors were hit by several crossbow bolts and immediately fell face up, and never got up again after falling.

"The arrows are poisoned!" This was what Shala thought of in an instant. "Who are these mercenaries? How can they have steel crossbows that are regarded as contraband by the human race?"

"Girl, your opponent is me. It's not a good habit to be distracted when fighting!" Kains swung his huge sword in his hand, and the sword edge that spit out a foot-long sword light slashed down at Shala's head.

Shala crossed her crescent blade upwards, facing Kains' sword edge.

As expected, Shala was shaken off again for five or six meters. Before Kains' attack came again, Shala took the initiative to pounce on him.

"Moonlight Shine!"

Shara was the first to use the orc combat technique, swinging her crescent blades and unleashing dozens of slashes of fighting spirit at Keynes.

Keynes' greatsword moved like lightning, forming a fan-shaped shield that easily blocked all the fighting spirit.

"Whirlwind Slash!" Keynes' greatsword spun and slashed at Shara.

The blade and the crescent clashed with a clanging sound, forcing Shara to retreat constantly. When the spinning blade finally stopped, Shara was kneeling on the ground.

"Little leopard, you're still lacking!" Keynes suddenly lifted his foot and kicked Shara in the chest, sending her flying.

Shara rolled a few times before getting up from the ground, blood dripping from her mouth, her body in severe pain, as if several ribs had been crushed.

Shara turned and ran back, "Joia, take the kids and run, we're no match for them."

Joia was covered in blood, she had entered a berserk state, her hair disheveled and she crazily attacked the hunter Angus.

Angus, who had been dominating the fight before, was forced to retreat constantly by the berserk Joia, and had already taken several hits.

"I can't leave, you take Leon and go!"

The berserk state of the orcs can increase their strength, speed and pain tolerance for a short time, but berserking comes at the cost of overdrawing their life force. After berserking, the orcs will fall into a state of extreme weakness.

"Let's go together!" Shala swung her crescent blade and attacked Angus with Joya.

"Ganging up on one is not your orc style." Kains rushed up again with his sword, repelling Shala with one strike and clashing with Joya, freeing Angus from danger.

Joya, who had gone berserk, was no match for Kains.

The orc warriors were already engaged in a fierce battle with the mercenaries who emerged from the dark.

These mercenaries were clearly much stronger than the orc warriors. They had discarded their crossbows and wielded shields, long swords and short spears. They cooperated with each other in groups of several, stabbing their weapons accurately and quickly into the vital parts of the orc warriors.

This was not the way human mercenaries fought, but more like an army. Shala suddenly felt a chill down her spine.

There were huge roars in the camp, including Joya's tauren guard Hessen and several orc braves who went berserk one after another. Under the influence of the orc braves, more orc warriors began to go berserk. All the orcs fought desperately.

The human mercenaries cooperated with each other and began to retreat, quickly widening the distance from the orc warriors.

Before the orc warriors could get close, a series of fireballs fell into the orc formation, blasting many orcs into the air.

Intermediate magic skill "Bursting Fireball Barrage"!

A sound of breaking through the air suddenly rang out in the night, and one after another arrows wrapped in fighting spirit flew out from the darkness.

One arrow, one life. Each arrow accurately pierced the vital spot of an orc warrior, even Black Forest covered his throat with the arrow shaft and slowly fell.

Elf archer!

Shala's hope that had just risen was instantly shattered.

Shala had lost all hope and didn't have time to dodge the arrow that was aimed at her.

At the moment when the arrow was about to pierce her heart, Joia blocked in front of Shala.

"Shala, run!"

Joia let out her last roar, and with the arrow in her chest, she pounced on Keynes…
