Meryl looked around anxiously, avoiding making eye contact with Jin. Despite her exhaustion, she couldn't find sleep. Her hands tightly clung to her bag, finding comfort in its presence.
Her bag contained her water bottle (only half remained), a few spare of clothes since she took it upon herself to bring extra clothes because of the heat, her portable fan and cell phone which both ran out of batteries a long time ago.
As they journeyed towards Mistybrook Bridge, the road stretched ahead. The car winded and twisted to avoid obstacles and the relentless undead.
The city was now behind them, and the open fields provided a brief respite from the horrors they had endured. Some of the group found solace in sleep, their exhaustion momentarily easing their troubled minds.
