Levina sighed for the millionth time as the carriage shook, hitting a bump. She was tired, hungry, and anxious to see Lucien again. It had only been a day since she last saw him, but to her, it felt like a lifetime—a lifetime without seeing his smug face or hearing his voice. She consoled herself with the thought that they were almost there, just a few more turns, and she would see Lucien.
"Why are you smiling?" Marie asked, finally breaking the silence. "No, wait, let me guess. He has blue eyes, broad shoulders, and is a prince," she teased.
Levina blushed, not even realizing she was smiling. "I don't know what you're talking about," she replied shyly.
"Of course, you don't," Marie retorted.
Another bump.
"What do you plan to do?" Marie asked with a serious look on her face. It didn't suit her.
"About what?"
"Lucien."
