"What were the both of you doing there?"
"That is a question I'd like an answer to."
Cleopatra almost jumped as the king's voice boomed from behind her.
"Father," they both greeted in unison, slightly bowing their heads.
"What are you doing out here?" Cleopatra asked, still startled.
"I heard this was where your brother was hiding, so I came to find him," he replied with his gaze fixed on Lucien.
Lucien's eyes fell to the ground. "You could have sent for me, father," he muttered.
"I would have. In fact, I did send for you, twice," he raised two slender fingers, "but you were nowhere to be found. So here I am." The king turned to Cleopatra, "it is getting quite late, my jewel. You should retire to your chambers, do you not agree?" he asked with the side of his lips tilted upwards in a half-smile.
