Levina smiled when she noticed the red petunias placed beside the candle she had lit in her room the previous night. Her father must have placed them, she concluded.
Last night had been a lot for her, but after she lit the candle, she felt better. The candle had burned out now.
There was a slight tap on the door before it fell open and her father filled the doorway. "How are you feeling this morning? You didn't seem like yourself last night."
She smiled. "Yes, father, I feel much better. And thank you for the petunias," she gestured at the flowers, "they are lovely."
He nodded. "Someone is here to see you. Draven."
"Oh," she sounded disappointed. She had half hoped it would be Lucien.
She followed Augustus out to the living area where Draven was already seated.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"It is nice to see you too," he responded with a sad smile, standing to his feet.
"I'm sorry. How are you?"
