Levina sighed in exhaustion as she climbed out of the boat. The ride felt like it had gone on for a lifetime.
"My ride is here. Join me," Lucien said, pointing at the smiley coachman who was waving at them.
Draven immediately wrapped his arm around Levina's shoulder. "I will take her home myself," he spat at Lucien and then turned to Levina, "that is if you wouldn't mind."
She gently slipped out of Lucien's hold. "Thank you, my lord, but I would go with Draven," she said, secretly hoping that Lucien accepts her decision without making a fuss.
She felt a slight pang of disappointment when he nodded. "Alright then," he said, taking a few steps back. "I hope to see you tomorrow," he said before turning away. The momentary hesitation in his eyes before he turned away made her feel better. He did not want to let her go.
"After you, my lady," Draven said with a faint smile, as he pointed in the opposite direction of Lucien's carriage.
