"You have it all wrong," Levina added quickly. "I have not fallen for Prince Lucien. We are just friends. And he is not using me. Lucien is nothing like that."
"Don't be naïve, Levina!" she took both of Levina's hands. "I know he seems nice and says everything you want to hear, but trust me, when the time comes, he will discard you and face his throne and queen."
"He would kiss you in the privacy of his chambers and act like you don't exist in public," Aerilyn's voice broke. She jumped to her feet and turned to face the arrangements of pots on the wall.
Levina felt that there was more to the story than Aerilyn was saying. "Aerilyn, are you okay?" she asked.
She nodded but didn't turn around. "Yes, I am. Just be careful, Levina. These royal people are all the same," she threw over her shoulder as she walked away.
