Levina felt her heart flutter and melt into a puddle. His words replayed over and over; she had to force her eyes off his face before her knees would buckle under the pressure of his intense gaze.
"Lucien, she is not your property. She is a person," he grabbed Levina's left hand and tugged her to his side.
"I know she is a person. But she is also my personal nurse, and I can call on her whenever I need her. And I need her now," he turned to Levina, "Lev, I need you."
She knew he did not need her; he looked just fine, and the poison had left him completely. But she wanted to go with him, maybe because some people had started staring in their direction.
She turned to Draven. "Let me see what's wrong with him, and I will be right back."
"No, you won't," Lucien muttered, and Levina glared at him.
She gave Draven's arm a light squeeze before he let her go. "I will be back."
