Levina slung her bag over her shoulder, and a tired sigh escaped her lips. All she wanted to do was stay in bed the entire day, but that was a luxury she could not afford. She had to check on Lucien and give him a new set of medicine. Besides, she still had a job at the infirmary.
After the events of last night, she wasn't ready to meet her father. She stealthily left her room, made her way down the hallway, and proceeded to the front door.
"Leaving without saying hello to your old man," his calm voice froze her in place. Slowly, she turned around to face him. Augustus stood behind her, with a mug settled between his hands.
"I thought you already left for work," she lied.
He nodded. "I thought I deserved a break. So I will be home for the rest of the day."
She nodded wordlessly.
He took a sip of his tea. "Would you be attending the feast at the palace?" he asked.
