Chapter 51 - Igor

The auction continued, but the price and tension could not be compared to when Zoran bid for the book. The commotion seemed to have died down and the bidding continued as normal.

Not long after, the final item of the night would finally be introduced. The lights dimmed and a spotlight gave emphasis on a glass box covered by a red silk cloth.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. It is finally the last item of the night. And as they say, we saved the best for last."

The guests waited in anticipation. They already heard the rumors about the Silver Bleeding Diamond making an appearance in this auction, but there was still some doubts about its validity. They didn't even know if it truly even existed. But even the skeptics were excited.

"This item is thought to be from the long lost Kingdom of Renovia! Worn by the crown princess herself until it was lost hundreds of thousands of years ago."

The host paused and let the guests' imagination wonder. Everyone knew about the Kingdom of Renovia who used to conquer half the world before the current Dynasties took place. If this Diamond was a relic of that old past, then its value would skyrocket more than it already was.

"Now through destiny, it will land in the hands of one lucky guest here in this auction."

Despite the guests spending copious amounts of money earlier tonight, that was still considered being frugal for most of them. Now, it was time for them to pull out all the stops. The prestige and honor that this Diamond would bring was well worth the price that this would cost.

"Now, without further ado, let me welcome your eyes to see the wonder and magnum opus of the land itself, the crème of the crop, the jewel of the night—THE SILVER BLEEDING DIAMOND!"

The host pulled the cover, and the shining luster of the Diamond escaped the glass box that encased it. Everyone saw the wondrous lattice brilliance that the Diamond reflected from the light above.

The edges were perfectly shaped into a gem, with the sides polished to make the silver undertone clear to the eyes of everyone. Compared to most gems, this Diamond seemed to illuminate with its own light, as if a silver outline surrounded it at all times.

Silence filled the room. Their attention was fixed onto the Diamond, taking it in for all its beauty. Some were stunned. They didn't think they would ever see the Silver Bleeding Diamond in their lifetime. They didn't even think it existed.

No bid was thrown. How could they? They didn't know the appropriate amount of money to bid for such a treasure. Ten thousand Liongs? That would be an insult to the gem.

There was no one arrogant enough to start the competition for the Diamond—except for one: the Young Master himself.

"50,000 Liongs."

With his bid, everyone was shaken out of their stupor. The Diamond was not simply a gem that was a delight to see with their eyes, but it was something they could acquire themselves. They didn't care how much they had to pay, they had to have it.

"55,000!"

"60 thousand!"

"70!"

Zoran nodded as he saw the uproar brought about by the Diamond. Eddie was only willing to pay 50,000 Liongs for the Diamond, but in this auction, it was only the starting bid.

He was sitting still watching the price of the Diamond skyrocket when he heard the words of Igor, one of the Young Master's lackeys, directed at him.

"Don't even think about bidding for this Diamond, peasant."

But Zoran ignored him and focused on the auction. It had now gone up to 100,000 Liongs. The higher the price went up, the wealthier Zoran got. But Igor didn't know that. He thought Zoran was silent because he didn't have a chance to bid such a high amount.

"200,000 Liongs," bid the Young Master.

"Hmph. See that? The Young Master can outbid you at any price. He didn't lose the book to you, he was just generous enough to concede it." Igor kept berating Zoran.

Zoran sat still and closed his eyes as he listened to the fervor in the wealthy whales' voices as they tried to outbid each other for the Diamond. The highest bid as of now was 275 thousand from the Mayor himself. But that too would quickly be outbid by the Young Master.

"300,000."

Many wealthy businessmen wanted to buy the Diamond for their wives, but the price was simply too steep. Once bidding had gone up that high, most of the guests were out of their price range. Now, it was just the battle of the obscenely rich.

"350,000" the Mayor bid.

The real estate mogul didn't take a second to respond. "380 thousand."

"400,000" but the Young Master was there to outbid him. With that price, even the moguls and tycoons had to consider if they were willing to outbid him.

The whole auction room went silent. Seeing that the other guests had no intention of bidding any higher, most thought that the previous Silver Bleeding Diamond would belong to the Young Master.

"400,000 Liongs. Going once… going twice…sold! The Silver Bleeding Diamond belongs to the Young Master!"

Like before, his lackeys were the first one to congratulate him. Praises and heaps of felicitations

Igor, on the other hand, took to insulting Zoran. He hadn't forgiven him for competing against the Young Master for the book.

"You can't even fathom that kind of money. Even if you sold your whole life, it wouldn't even amount to a percent of that!"

Zoran simply shrugged in response. This obvious disregard for respect to the Young Master's wealth and power was something that no one dared to do. Igor expected Zoran to realize the discrepancy between the him and the Young Master, but Zoran didn't seem to care.

Igor's hands were glowing red just as his Yi circle was about to conjure up. But, the tall lanky man beside the Young Master stopped him from doing anything rash.

"Take care of him later. Not now," he said. Igor nodded and stayed his hand. Zoran would soon get what's coming to him, he thought.

Just like that, the auction was over. Guests were escorted to a private room where they could exchange money for the items they bid on. Zoran did the same and followed the host to a private room for him to receive the money for the Silver Bleeding Diamond.

Behind him, Igor cracked his knuckles in anticipation. He couldn't wait to teach Zoran a harsh lesson. A weak, pathetic, and worthless person like him was in no position to go against the Young Master.
