Chapter 52 - Ripped

Zoran walked into the room with the host and waited in his office. After a minute, the host came back with a book in his hands. He was careful in his steps and his handling to show respect to Zoran.

"Good evening sir. We have deducted your winnings from the Silver Bleeding Diamond to pay for the book."

The host presented the book with two hands. He showed the cover and the pages in between to show him the current state that the item he purchased was in. Dust poofed out of the book; it's been a long time since someone read through this script.

The cover was damaged, the paper was dried and stained by water to the point of some words being blurred into a blob of ink, and some pages were missing. The book was better left in the trash.

The contents were truly indecipherable in the common folk's eyes. It had no other value except for its link to the Old Age that many enthusiasts want to have.

Zoran only knew that the book was important because it was written by the author 'Nightingale', a person of interest in the creation of modern medicine. In the more advanced lands where the main dynasties of the Supreme Beings lie, the name Nightingale was common knowledge taught to children as a part of history. But in this backwood place, nobody knew it.

He opened up the first page and skimmed through its contents. The first few parts consisted of a large block of text—Zoran guessed that it was the introduction. The squiggly lines were unfamiliar to him, even to the vast knowledge of languages that he learned through his previous life.

Then, illustrations depicting the human body appeared in the middle of the book. It was detailed—from the bones, to the muscle, to the organs, and even the Yi points in the body. As far as physicians were concerned, they would view this as the most accurate portrayal of the layers of the human figure. And from the looks of the text pointing to the body, there seemed to be a detailed explanation of each part.

As for what it meant, Zoran had no clue.

He kept wondering if the mantra of words that kept repeating in his mind would help him understand the words in this book, but that didn't seem to be the outcome. Each time he recited the mantra, the words in the book juggled and twisted into another language that he did not understand.

The words still felt alien to him. There must be another reason why the book triggered a reaction from his mantra.

He kept flipping through the pages until he came across the last page. It was just a simple illustration about the body. It had no transparent skin that showed the inner layers like the bones and the organs like in the previous pictures. It was a simple portrait.

However, there was something amiss about this drawing. There were strange points all around the body randomly. It didn't hit any Yi point, any bones or any integral part of the organs. The author seemed to have sketched these points by closing their eyes and arbitrarily bringing down their pencil to the drawing.

Zoran studied the points. He tried to understand the hidden meaning of these parts using his knowledge from the future. He tried to connect it to see if it had a hidden image, he tried to associate it with artskills, he tried to see if it was a valid cultivation skill—to no avail.

He kept wracking his brains and concentrating on the points until he thought he was close to figuring out the secret. The answer was right under his tongue. It was staring at him right in the face. However, the host interrupted him with a question.

"Is the item to your liking sir?"

Zoran looked at the host and forgot there was someone else in the room. He was so focused on the illustrations that he thought he was in the comfort of his own home.

"Yes," he answered.

"You have a balance of 300,000 Liongs from the auction, sir. Would you like it in cash or would you like to store it in our bank?"

Zoran thought for a bit and answered, "spend 200,000 on the best cultivation pills, and I'll take the 100,000 as cash."

The host nodded and bowed towards Zoran before he exited the room to fulfill his request, leaving only Zoran to his own.

As Zoran watched the host close the door behind him, he saw the shining bright lights on the wooden door. The whole room littered with bright lights. These were the critical points of the raw materials that made up the room. This was all due to the Law of Power.

And then it hit him.

Zoran raised the book and looked at it side by side with the door. The 'critical' point of the door was similar to the points in the body on the illustrations.

Both had the same four sided diamond pattern that seemed to flutter and blink like a star in the night sky. It was uncanny. The only difference was that the points in the book weren't shining because it was only sketched out in ink by the author.

He couldn't believe his eyes. If the book was written by some insignificant author, Zoran would have passed it off as mere coincidence. However, the author was THE Nightingale. They witnessed the birth of dynasties and the emergence of the Supreme Beings to the top. It was not absurd to think that they have a connection to the Laws of the Universe.

His Law of Power only worked with inanimate objects and materials like stone, wood, and such kinds. However, this book told a different story.

This book could help him use the Law of Power on humans! He could use their critical points for an offensive attack that would destroy their bodies in one attack.

But Zoran flipped the page and found them missing. The rest were ripped out.
