Ever's POV
I can't breathe! I can't breathe! I can't breathe! I think I'm dying!
The room keeps spinning. I feel sick. I can't feel my body.
Did I die? Am I dead? Why can't I feel anything!?
"Ever!"
I can't raise two kids on my own!
The room is getting hotter. I'm suffocating.
Somebody help me…
Adrian's POV
Twins. She's having twins.
They're not even mine and my heart is pounding hard from both happiness and worry.
How could that bastard not want anything to do with her or these beautiful little beans?
"Ever are you okay? You don't look so good? "
Bri's worried voice rang out, shifting my attention away from the screen and to Ever who was still lying on the examination table, only to see she had become ghostly pale and her breathing had become ragged. Sweat beads decorated her forehead and her eyes were dazed and glossed over with tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Ever! " I called out, grabbing her face in my hands to get her to look at me.
She wasn't even blinking as her eyes wildly scanned the room before stopping when they landed on mine. With the way she was staring into my eyes, I could tell she wasn't seeing me.
"Come on precious, I need you to breathe! Breathe with me, okay? In. Out. In. Out. Dammit, it's not working! "
Come on Adrian, what did Paula do when you were having a panic attack?!
Ice! I need ice!
I looked up to the doctor who was currently fanning Ever with her clipboard. "Go get me some ice! " At first she looked at me confused, before nodding and running out of the room.
"What's the ice for? " Bri asked as she held on tightly to my girl's hand that was trembling like a leaf.
Yes, MY girl.
"The cold of the ice will shock her system, bringing her back to the here and now. It will also keep her focusing on the cold in her mouth, and not on whatever she's panicking about, " Jade explained for me while I reached out for the small bag of ice Dr. Ellis had rushed in with.
"Our friend Jake's mom would do this for Adrian when his panic attacks got bad. "
I think Jade was trying to keep Bri distracted because she looked like she was about to have a panic attack herself. Focusing all of my attention back on Ever, I grabbed a couple of ice cubes from the bag while the nurse sat her up.
"Ever I need you to eat this ice cube okay? Come on, open your mouth, baby… " I sighed in relief when her mouth slightly opened and wanted to chuckle when I saw her brows slightly furrowed in confusion.
Good, she's already starting to come back…
After placing two cubes of ice into her mouth, I picked her up and placed her into my lap, while I sat on the examination table. I wanted to coo at how adorable she looked curling herself into my chest, her hands clenching my shirt tightly in her small fists. I could feel her start to relax while I rubbed her back and whispered encouraging words into her ears. Kissing the top of her head once in a while too.
I don't care how this looks, my precious need help so she's gonna get it.
"I'm here, and so are you. You're not alone precious, come on come back to me… "
…
"Thank you… "
After a few moments of silence, Ever had finally spoken up making all of us sigh in relief while I pulled her further into my chest. which now feels 100x lighter if you're curious.
"Are you okay? Have you ever had a panic attack before? " Jade asked, rubbing Bri's back. Bri had started silently crying when Ever spoke. I'm guessing this doesn't happen very often with the way Bri's acting.
"I'm okay, just exhausted," she sighed, resting her head against my chest underneath my chin.
"And I've had one once, but it was never this bad." She had spoken in a hushed voice, and it was then that I realized she had started to fall asleep.
"It's okay precious you can rest now, I'll wake you up once you're home okay? "
"... 'Kay… "
So cute…
Turning to Dr. Ellis, who was just standing there watching us with a small smile, I asked her if she would check on the kids again. Stress isn't good for the baby- babies sorry.
I know she'll worry about them when she wakes up…
...…
Jade's POV (surprise!!)
I watched as my brother gently laid Ever back down on the examination table, gently lifting her shirt a tad. I have never seen him so gentle with other people besides me, Jake, and Paula before. It's kinda refreshing. And to see that look in his eyes as he wipes the remaining tears that streamed down her face warmed my heart.
You don't even know it yet, but you've already begun to change him Ever… Thank you…
It's about time for my brother to be happy… and I know you can do just that…
Hearing Bri's sniffles just about broke my heart. She loves her best friend and you can tell. Not really knowing what to do, I pulled her into me- giving her a hopefully comforting side hug.
While Bri and I were talking in the waiting room, she told me about how she and Ever were practically sisters. She also told me about Ever's home life and couldn't help but feel for her.
I guess Ever's parents are never home. They only come back once in a while when her parents are hosting an "important" dinner, or when they need clothes or something. Then they leave, completely ignoring her in the process.
"Okay, well it looks to me that the babies are just fine. though you should do everything you can to remove all the things that will cause her any stress. " Dr. Ellis spoke slowly so as not to wake up sleeping beauty.
"Do you know how far along she is?" Bri asked, and I noticed how she slightly cringed at her small voice crack.
"She's about 10 weeks pregnant, which is roughly three months, and the babies are about 2-3 inches and weigh ½ oz. Would you like the pictures to be sent to you by email, or would you like hard copies? "
"Can you do both? And could you print out a few copies too?" Bri asked, helping clean the jelly-like substance off of Ever's stomach.
"sure thing… Do you mind if I ask?... What happened to the father? Is he–"
"He's not in the picture, " Adrian spoke, interrupting the nice doctor lady with a not-so-subtle glare.
"I see… sorry… " a look of sympathy washed over her face as she turned to leave, letting us know that we can go back to the waiting room and that she'd bring the photos to us when they were done.
It didn't take very long for the pictures to be done. In all that time Bri had set up another appointment for next month, and Adrian had taken Ever to the car, carrying her like a baby. It was adorable.
While walking to the car I couldn't help but admire Bri and her good looks.
I mean, she looks like a freaking Disney princess! With her red curly hair, that she had thrown up when she first arrived at the hospital. Her bright blue eyes remind me of the surface of the ocean, the part that reflects the sunlight. Her lips were a perfect cupid's bow in a shade of dark red. The Black ripped jeans she wore hugged her curves deliciously and paired well with the black combat boots and dark red crop top. A black and red flannel completed the look, and I'm pretty sure I'm drooling.
"You know, if you keep staring at me like that, we might have to skip the date and go straight back to my place… " Bri whispered in my ear seductively, making my legs turn to jelly as my face burned in embarrassment.
Seeing my reaction, she simply giggled, winked, and got in the backseat of the car.
Oh boy… I'm screwed…
