Ultra Instinct or the enlightment stage, a state not many people achieve but these that acquired it are all top fighter in the hero rankings.
The enlightment state or Ultra Instinct allows the body of the user to unleash 100 percent of their bodies power along with being able to utilize all their experience and engraved muscle memories to exceed the level even the person using it showed.
The reason for that is simple, through the system you gain all the knowledge of the art, skill or bloodline abilities however you can't use them and only remember the first one to start refining and practicing it.
Then what would happen if your body with all the knowledge somewhere locked, is unlocking it since your aren't controlling your body directly?
you would be a lot stronger than you were before that, although that has a huge price when you use it for to long or you strain your body to much while being in that state.
The bad things that can happen when you are in the enlightement state are terrifying as well as it is rewarding, which all of it's users know but still use it like it is the last trump card they have.
The most simple thing that can happen is that it cripples you for the rest of your life, the next would be brain damage that only mircale drugs or potions can heal, after that would be a semi enlightement state for all your life and that is worse than death if not right managed.
The positive things outweight it mainly by a small margin yet all people that mastered it use it.
The most positive is enlightement in your arts, strengthening of your body, achieving control of the enlightement state for a period of time but the more complex one are that your body absorbs all the knowledge of the arts, skills and bloodlines however if you use them instinctively they could kill you through the force the produce, the strengthening of vitality which would give you an enhanced regeneration despte that is it also casuing you to train like a madman but not learning everything from it so that your body can waste these huge amounts of vitality.
The rune body is better as long as you are not a pure blood human and have genes transforming you into a tough species.
It increases everything, your body durability, sturdiness, strength and reaction speed as well as all Mana related things like your mana circuits, your casting speed or your manipulation of it.
The drawbacks of it are also heavy for supreme species except universal serpent who are the ruler of the rune languages, it could cause death after its use, blindness, tearing your insides apart as well as slowly draining your life force without you realising it.
So why would these two use such dangerous forms?
Nadine is not immune to the effects of rune body in her human form nonetheless she activated it with that form, risking her life only to win in a meager tournament of their school.
Violett is entering the enlightement state fully knowing that if she suffers to much damage from Nadine that it could cripple her for life yet she too is risking it for a meager school tournament.
They both are simply eager to show their best friend who is the stronger one and will reign supreme over one or the other.
Nadine with her rune body is her hair slowly turns from blond to an obsidian color, her runes pulsated with a jade hue furthermore are her eyes slowly changing from a simple green to a chartreuse color as moreover the mana radiating from her body in a jade hue too.
Violett her eyes turned completely white as her white Aura got even more pure without any other hues in it and her body seemed to become even more tough and durable.
these two rush at each other, not giving the other one a slight chance to catch their breath, both are swinging their fists at each other.

Nadine her fist hit nothing as a foot out of nowhere with such a fast speed hit her, that caused her eyes to roll back for a moment, sending her flying in the air.
Violett in the Ultra Instinct didn't care of how hard she kicked her friend as her mind is currently only thinking about beating her by all possible means.
She jumps up, reaching Nadine in a second, charging up her fist with a thick layer of White Aura furthermore commanding the metal on the floor to take the form of a spear.

Nadine dodged the fist by a hair's breadth by twisting her body with air magic in the air and performed an axe kick to her neck.

her kick however didn't found it's designated target and hit her forehead sending her flying to the ground.

Nadine not knowing from the Ultra Instinct is getting shocked how she could be an equal to her in that state, which is even causing her trouble to keep up with her speed despite already have her Serdant eyes active.
That all wasn't even her main struggle with the Violett in UI, she can't deal any damage or even injure her slightly but got injured already after two exchanges.

Sending her flying even higher in the air while blood is dripping out of her nose.

Nadine sensing it entering her senses of the Serpent bloodline rune [Snakes range] enveloped her entire body in Ice.

the ice split into innumerable pieces but it served its purpose, Nadine conjured her daggers and casting another firebolt rune on it.

Violett intercepted it with her Rapier shooting out an arrow of white aura, the spear changed trajectory through their clash and missed Nadine entirely hitting the barrier.

Nadine thought as her body already felt like breaking down, she knew that her time is long enough to fight for about 10 minutes until she is exhausted... however.

Nadine conjured a spear of air looking like a compressed tornado and flung it at Violett, which responded in kind by sending the iron spear to counter it.
An armor out of steel covered her body as she recklessly hopped into the explosion, vanishing in the explosion of an iron tornado.
Nadine is viewing her charging through it and gaining more armor in the process, questioning what the hell Violett is thinking by doing something like that.
Nadine summoned Kina and commanded her to use her dragon breath with lightning element in it, Kina didn't inquired why she should do something like that and simply did it.

Lightning crackled through the air while it hit Violet as the center of all, her body getting electrocuted and her hissing something could be heard.

Nadine looks down towards her stomach as a long sword pireced it, making her thoughts dizzy moreover blood sleaking out of her mouth as well as out of the wound that sword caused.
Violett who is smoking like a newly roasted chicken, charged at Nadine with an axe kick downwards, coating it in her white Aura where light crackling of lighting could be seen.

Nadine with that kick lost consciousness and hit the ground, her head almost open from that kick and her back probably broken is laying on the ground watching her descending like a meteor.

Nadine her Runes are literally blinding as enormous amount of Mana traverses through the runes, healing her furthermore creating an armor of radiant ice along with wings on its back, her muscles are growing, almost tearing through the skin of her.
A Serpent out of Ice is following the fast movement of the hand of Nadine, at the same time is a rune casted at an insane speed, cold lightning crackling and sparking up his right arm pointing at Violett.
The serpent at an abnormal speed is crashing in Violett causing her to spitting blood as a dangerous feeling is creeping through her back.

A Nagamaki out of radiant ice is whistling through the air, Violett seeing it closing the distance between it, is swinging her rapier in a weird manner downwards, pushing the blade of the Nagamaki down which slightly cut her stomach.

the ice spread through the entire right half of the fighting stage, Nadines eyes are fixed on Violett and vice versa, as both create a foothold under them, Violett a shield and Nadine her ice serpent.
Nadine channeled all the ice electric current in the Nagamaki's blade at the same time did put Violett fifty percent of her remaining Aura in the rapier and activating a skill.

their weapons attract each other and are almost colliding, their eyes determined to knock each other out.

radiant blue hue and white hue are fighting of who gains the upper hand, the participants of the fight vanishing in the two hues.

she exclaimed and the viewer all around the human domain cheered excitedly at yet another fight like the Lightning gods punishment.
Nadine frowned as her Rune Body clearly lost against her if she didn't in the last moment met the condition for her protector.
"that was a gamble I am doing greatly again if it means I need to almost die for it"
she lampooned with an almost whispering like tone, she is frustrated that she needed help from something like an outsider otherwise she would have lost miserably to Violett in UI.
